We're in Aberdeenshire. Hardly any of my kids activities are running. Dc1 (5) has drama (in person) and French (via zoom). No football or sporting activities at all. Dc2 (2) who did an activity every day before lockdown does Tinytalk online and has a space booked at the gym for next week (2nd week back). No toddler groups, no music class, no bookbugs or lego club...in fact I doubt our small local library will reopen which will be a huge loss to the community.

Whilst my kids are too young, our Scouts etc aren't running either and of course softplay isn't open.

@WaxOnFeckOff, thanks. No it wasn't me. Don't understand why putting my nickname on it. What purpose can it serve? Anyway, I have reported the misuse of my nickname.

There is definitely something stinking and that's clear abuse. Unless of course you are Schrodinger's poster who can be both a supporter and a non supporter of NS at the same time?

WouldBeGood · 14/11/2020 15:26

Council gyms and pools mostly still shut here. I’ve had to join an expensive private gym do that ds can get some exercise. If they shut them too it’s disgrace.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 14/11/2020 15:27

well that other thread was weird. Cannot abide NS myself either.

Anyway, are wetherspoons closing ALL scottish pubs?

I can't either but if people do and want to post about it then that is absolutely fine.

What isn't fine is using the post to pretend to be other people and accuse/abuse other posters in the meantime.

Whilst I have no wish to go troll hunting (as that would be against the rules) there are clearly posters or a poster on here that are being very dishonest and stirring. I guess no one here might be being honest but to be fair most people seem pretty straightforward.

Pitching in re children activities

  • swimming - not opened since march. One venue out of 10-15 operating
  • drama and singing - not opened. Had to go on waiting list for new year as reduced capacity because of SD
  • anything at school - active schools etc - not opened (exception after school club)
  • libraries near me - not opened

Zoom doesn't work at all for DS (6) so he has missed his activities for 9 months now. Thank god for football (outdoors) which ends in 2 weeks because of lack of light / cold.

anon444877 · 14/11/2020 16:20

Our pool has re-opened a few weeks ago but you can't get a slot for the family swim as they book so fast and I seem to not have the knack - must be like winning a bet for a hot item on eBay!

I hope to see some decent analysis of restrictions across the Uk and world at sone point, particularly with regard to the slower reopening and early upping of restrictions.

RaraRachael · 14/11/2020 16:50

Our local Boys Brigade and brownies started up after the October holidays. So children can mix with each other at these activities but not at school Hmm

Just overheard my neighbour telling another one that allegedly Dominic Cummings is going to work for NS. A match made in heaven......

titsbumfannythelot · 14/11/2020 16:52

😆 he would need some amount of dirt on NS to manoeuvre into that position

BlueThursday · 14/11/2020 17:00

She’s not daft she wouldn’t touch him

RaraRachael · 14/11/2020 17:04

That's what I thought - this neighbour often spouts controversial made up stuff in an overloud voice to anyone she thinks is listening and it usually turns out to be a heap of shite Grin

MissEliza · 14/11/2020 17:43

@prettybird I'm shocked the parents agreed to that. My dd does cheer and they had to socially distance at training until a Covid safe plan was approved. Other clubs locally went ahead with training that involved contact but her coach does things properly. She was annoyed as she was dying to get into training. As I told her, I would never leave her in the hands of people who were willing to ignore such basic rules.

BlueThursday · 14/11/2020 18:05

I do think he will crop up again in some shape or form but not for NS

He'll be writing his revenge memoirs right now I imagine. I'm sure he knows enough to topple bj but that will suit bj perfectly given the way things have worked out.

anon444877 · 14/11/2020 18:21

If there's one thing we've learned about Boris and chums, they all stick together. Perhaps he'll pop up on the PR team of one of the firms that has won one of the big covid contracts...

Scotslassie1 · 14/11/2020 19:32

Yeah I'm not convinced by it. BJ didn't sack him when he broke lockdown to visit a castle and the picture of him leaving with his belongings in a box looks completely set up.

BusyDreaming · 14/11/2020 19:42

Scotslassie Set up by whom and why ?

Not the only thing that looks a bit set up.

And before you respond with
‘ what a strange thing to say’ followed by hysterical laughing emoji, that’s a genuine question.

prettybird · 14/11/2020 19:45

@MissEliza - the parents weren't around to disagree: this was at school, so the kids aren't in a position to refuse. The parents who know better have now made their displeasure known and the SRU may have been tipped off Wink

Think the end of Cummings was definitely amped up to try and create an opportunity for the govt to reboot their comms strategy and it does need it.

I don't see any grand plan though.

WaxOnFeckOff · 14/11/2020 20:22

What a strange post to ask to have deleted Confused

Scotslassie1 · 14/11/2020 20:52

I just deleted it as thought I'd been a bit rude that's all.
