That's a clever play on words.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 12:51

Fears for tiers definitely. As for getting concessions for having had the vaccine , I can't see it without them actually making antibody testing widely available. There will be lots of people who have antibodies through prior infection and infection through this pandemic who haven't been able to get any kind of antibody testing and also have had no concessions either.

littlbrowndog · 16/11/2020 12:51

Fears for tiers 😂👏👍

rookiemere · 16/11/2020 12:53

Like the new thread title!

Yes it will be interesting once vaccines are commercially available as well as through NHS. I'd certainly pay a reasonable amount of money for the ability to be able to travel somewhere and see my elderly DPs freely.

But I'd weigh that against my natural wariness of a vaccine that has been developed so quickly

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 13:00

DH and I are in similar thought that it should be personal choice and noone should be compelled or incentivised to have a vaccine, especially without being tested to see if you are already immune.

Especially when it's something that has been so quickly produced.

Neither of us are anti vaxer conspiracy people.

titsbumfannythelot · 16/11/2020 13:00

What's Miss Trunchbull said at today's briefing? Can't bring myself to watch it

dementedpixie · 16/11/2020 13:08

Heres a summary. Didnt watch it

Thanks.

Does need a big overhaul of what exactly is happening when the vaccines come into the picture, the thinking through seems to happen so slowly.

Is it fair to stop people paying privately if it significantly affects their life to the point they're willing to pay? I agree it should be free in the first case but given the flu shot mess this year...

anon444877 · 16/11/2020 13:20

I agree about the vaccine - I'm of an age where I should be fine to catch it, but I'd have the old tech Astra Zeneca or Modena ones. Not sure about Pfizer...

littlbrowndog · 16/11/2020 13:40

I think what she said was

Some of yous are still being bad

So you are going to get tier 4. Which is really tier 5

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 16/11/2020 13:41

Oh Christ. My DF will be unbearable if he can't get to his pub or drink in a restaurant. That's pretty much his only hobby - drinking with his mates and watching football on the pub telly.

Anyone else think all the different vaccines is like some kind of schoolground competition? "mines 90%, mines 92%, mines 95%..."

Just makes it all a little harder to take seriously and believe really.

Lidlfix · 16/11/2020 13:52

Mm now I see why those work in education were offered antibody testing. There's a whole bunch of lab rats ready . I would take part in a trial once they establish I would sprout tentacles and boils.

titsbumfannythelot · 16/11/2020 13:55

I know people who have tested positive for Covid and not had any antibodies. I think that Tcells have a large role in fighting the infection too.

Aurea · 16/11/2020 13:59

@anon444877

I understand both the Pfizer and Moderna Covid vaccine are mRNA ones.

anon444877 · 16/11/2020 14:04

@aurea I am getting befuddled, you're right - Janssen and Astra Zeneca ones are similar, old vaccine technology, is my limited understanding.

I'm sure we'll all be vaccine savvy in a few months!

anon444877 · 16/11/2020 14:06

A small part of me worries the people in the percentages the vaccines aren't effective for will be the people who suffer covid badly, one thing we've learned is that small percentages is a lot of a population.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/11/2020 14:07

Not looking good for leveling up tomorrow, is it? I'm in a tier two area at the moment, although the indicators say it should really be one - I hope she doesn't just bump everyone up one.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/11/2020 14:08

Our deaths (and new cases) seem to be really out of step with England and Wales just now. Last time, whilst it obviously varied a bit, I seem to recall it being roughly proportionate between Scotland and rUK. Just now their numbers are a lot worse .

Crikey I hope not - currently T3 but should really only be 2 at most

Is it just me that read that as testicles and balls and since I thick those are the same thing, briefly wondered if I'd been living with a huge misunderstanding my whole life? :o

Even funnier with the the mistake of "would" instead of "wouldn't"... :o

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 14:28

@titsbumfannythelot

Yes, that's what i meant. Since they've not made antibody testing available for those who have been positive for covid, those people have been unable to benefit from any immunity that they may have which is frustrating. This may have allowed people to be more comfortable about visiting relatives for example.
anon444877 · 16/11/2020 14:35

apparently they've been inundated with vaccine volunteers in Dundee per the bbc, which surprised me as it's not on my bucket list!

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2020 14:46

Are teachers likely to go on strike?

My thinking is, if they do, then open shops gyms and hospitality

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/11/2020 14:56

Any teachers' strike would be ages off - the EIS are just issuing a survey just now asking people's thoughts. I'd guess nothing would happen until next year if members voted in favour.

I know the priority is to keep schools open, but it seems so counter-productive with secondary in areas where rates are very high.
