Mm.. maybe that’s why I thought it upmarket 😳🍷😂

NotAnActualSheep · 10/11/2020 09:02

We walked down the cowgate late July I think, on a sunny evening en route to a restaurant booking. It was absolutely deserted, apart from the three sisters beer garden, which was heaving. Still smelt faintly of wee, and there were several pairs of trainers and some pants dangling from the cables between the upper floors of the buildings. So pretty much normal, apart from the eerie quietness. Not been more recently...can't imagine the pubs and clubs are having any fun now.

Matilda2013 · 10/11/2020 10:14

I actually feel more nervous that there hasn't been any leaks Grin are they keeping it all the same and that's why? Or have they just manged to keep a secret?

WouldBeGood · 10/11/2020 10:24

@Matilda2013 I know... ! Stomach churning here

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 10:26

When do you think we find out today about levels?

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/11/2020 10:28

Isn't Tuesday FMQs around 12isg

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/11/2020 10:35

I read a BBC piece on Twitter this morning suggesting no-one will move down a level, but there is "consideration" to some areas moving up a level.

It makes me think of computer games, in reverse.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 10/11/2020 10:42

I heard a rumour today that schools will finish a bit earlier for Christmas.

Ours are breaking up on the 18th of December (Aberdeenshire) which definitely seems on the early side.

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 10:44

North lanarkshire not due to break up until 23rd December

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 10:46

Sorry, NL breaks up 2.30pm on 22nd rather than 23rd

Matilda2013 · 10/11/2020 10:49

It'll be 2.20 ish today we find out as it's a parliament meeting

Callisto1 · 10/11/2020 10:53

I wish we finished 18th. The extra 2 days the next week to 22nd seem kinda pointless and I would feel so much better to have a buffer between school and potential family Christmas.

Alas selfish thoughts since we have to travel far if we want to see any family 😔

WouldBeGood · 10/11/2020 11:33

I’d be quite happy with an early break up in December too. Not for any reason other than it will make a nice break and it’s been a very stressful year. Fairer for the teachers too

anon444877 · 10/11/2020 12:40

According to Emily Oster, if people isolate for 5 days before seeing family, 50 percent of covid infections would've shown up by then, so clear logic for earlier school break up IF people use the time to isolate and test before seeing family.

Otoh, when do we get the days back?

anon444877 · 10/11/2020 12:40

I'd be happier with a longer holiday if there was anything to do.

WouldBeGood · 10/11/2020 13:00

As long as it’s not then compulsory to see family.

Callisto1 · 10/11/2020 13:21

In the case of Edinburgh we have an extra week over summer. I would prefer the holidays to be a bit more spread out.

I would also be fine to lose 2 days of school. Quite frankly at our stage in primary they make little difference to education. Can understand though if it would cause childcare issues for some. As I said it's a selfish wish!

WouldBeGood · 10/11/2020 13:33

Absolutely no learning will happen in those two days anyway

IwishIwasyoda · 10/11/2020 14:11

I don't want extra christmas school holidays thank you when the weather is atrocious and there is nothing to do. I'd much rather have my extra week next summer (when hopefully there are activities and holidays back on)

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 14:53

Lanarkshire staying level 3 thank goodness

anon444877 · 10/11/2020 15:03

I agree yoda, the post new year bit blows badly enough most years, it'll be poison this year if they've been off an extra week. We don't have control though - I see a super-cautious round of updates from the scot gov as expected given the strategy to date...tiers that seem to only move one way!

Ah but the carrot still dangled, perhaps, eventually, some places may move to a lower tier.

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 15:06

A few places going from 2 to 3

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/11/2020 15:51

Oh look, positive signs in certain areas, may move out of level 3 soon...nobody believes you love!

BlueThursday · 10/11/2020 16:01

We’re going to be here for the foreseeable aren’t we
