IMHO, the more we comply, the less we’re rewarded for our good citizenship. Over the summer when figures had dropped significantly, there was still no real let up on some of the behaviours in place.
If we can get to spring, alive and well, then I think our reward will be delivered, enabling us to vote and give thanks. Hmm 🙄

Bytheloch · 10/11/2020 16:18

That’s just ludicrous and outrageous if it’s NHS @littlbrowndog

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/11/2020 16:20

Stirling should have been in 2 (at least) originally, was put in 3, been effectively in 3 for what 5/6 weeks? All going along at low levels, now we have an outbreak in a care home and we are threatened with 4 as far as I can see (didn't watch just looking at headlines).

Totally pissed off.

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2020 16:23

It Is nhs

A year. A year.

Was due a scale and polish up. Nope. A year

If tooth gets sore call for the 1 emergency appointment each day 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️😥

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2020 16:25

And the dentists also look for signs of oral cancer.

Imagine how many oral cancers and gum disease will go undiagnosed

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2020 16:27

These red notifications are driving me mad.

Can’t turn them off either.

OOAOML · 10/11/2020 16:29

Did they offer a temp filling? My husband lost one and a few weeks ago they said they could do a temp one and he could go on the list - that was before the news they were returning more services but I think they are really limited how many appointments as they said they have to leave the surgery for 40 minutes before cleaning it. I opted for a private filling as mine (cracked filling) was hurting, DH is going to wait.

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 16:32

@littlbrowndog

These red notifications are driving me mad.

Can’t turn them off either.

You click on 'mark all as read' when you cluck into the notifications Hopefully it works for you
dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 16:32

Click* ffs

dementedpixie · 10/11/2020 16:33

But then another one pops up, oh dear

anon444877 · 10/11/2020 16:39

Hmm time to splurge on preventative tooth and gum care it seems - wow, nov 2021 or call daily....at some point the entire nhs is going to be emergencies only.

anon444877 · 10/11/2020 16:43

It's obvious next election cycle all we'll hear about is scot gov saved lives, as for economic consequences - see under dreadful uk gov. Rational debate about the severity, duration and effectiveness of the measures, highly unlikely.

WouldBeGood · 10/11/2020 16:48

@littlbrowndog that is shocking!

The world is mad. Why does no one ask her about these things?

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/11/2020 16:54

That's appalling littlebrowndog. My DD actually got an orthodontist appointment through - last time we saw the dentist was last autumn who at that point said he'd probably refer her at her next appointment in March. Which was cancelled - I'm guessing he reviewed his clients and just referred her anyway which was good of him. She's seeing them next week.

I'd been waiting for my endoscopic ultrasound since March. I have private medical cover as well but it was as much use as a fart in a spacesuit as they just shut down everything

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 10/11/2020 17:08

littlebrowndog that’s awful; dental care is supposed to be preventative ffs

I’m so worried about by eldest’s teeth she needs serious orthodontic work (& is running out of growing years) but they won’t even refer her just now...we’re on the list of people who would like check ups so they will call us one day Hmm

The tiers are just a joke

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2020 17:34

No no temporary filling offered.

It’s not sore or anything but in a years time or 3 months it might be

Sorry for you gibbons and for you statiscially

It’s really crap isn’t it. Nhs doesn’t seem to have been saved at all. Just shut down

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/11/2020 18:09

I agree, I don't think the NHS has been protected. You can't say the health service has been protected when a huge amount of it was shut down and it's still operating at seriously reduced capacity, when people can't get essential diagnostic tests let alone treatment, when people are dying (but it's only cancer/strokes/heart disease, not covid so who fucking cares right?)

The health services is supposed to be there to protect the population, not the other way around. Initial lockdown to allow for strengthening and preparing - training, buying ventilators, setting up extra hospitals/wards and so on I had no issue with but now we should be capable of operating a proper health service and we're just not.

It was shit before, now it's properly fucked.

OOAOML · 10/11/2020 18:16

Dentists are meant to be able to treat now though. Ours is a biggish practice so that might make a difference. We've had two relatives get diagnosed and start treatment for cancer but not via screening (which is hopefully starting up again, husband had a poo test sent to him) - really hoping vaccine roll out goes well as we can't see them in person just now.

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2020 18:31

Just got this off dentists in Scotland site

It’s all good to say they can do it. But it seems like some dentists are so backed up just trying to do dental check ups and not much else.

“It is now possible for your dentist to provide aerosol generating procedures (AGPs) for a full range of NHS treatments. There is a limited number of appointments available for this type of procedure. Priority must be given to those patients with urgent dental problems and patients from vulnerable groups.

An enhanced level of personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary to provide this type of care, however not every dental team member can safely wear this PPE.

It may be possible for your dentist to refer you to a colleague within the practice for this procedure if you require urgent care.

If your dentist has the capacity, they may make these treatments available to patients who require non-urgent care.”

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/11/2020 18:34

We are still only being offered emergency dental treatment i.e. extraction only via our NHS dentist. DH has a tooth that another bit breaks of every 2nd day. They are however operating the full range of private treatment. Hmm

Only a more encouraging note. DS had an actual appointment with GP about his tinnitus. Went to Boots for a hearing test and as a result was referred to audiology. He had an appointment today and he's now been referred to ENT as his pressure test (and hearing test in one ear) was abnormal. Anyhoo, something happening and that's been just over a month from initial phone phone call. Appreciate he might have a long wait now.

Dinnafashyersel · 10/11/2020 18:48

I'm another one with a crumbling tooth. Dentist did give me a temp filling which has since come out. Tooth already had a root canal so, touch wood, not painful and likely needs a crown at best. Reluctant to muck about with DIY and risk making it worse.

My dentist was / is offering private to shift backlog. Now can do on NHS. However massive queue and will be months before they get through the priority list. Their capacity is greatly reduced by new infection control measures. I think larger practices may be more impacted due to limits on how many dentists can work in the premises at the same time.

Justmuddlingalong · 10/11/2020 18:50

One of my relatives is a dental nurse in Fife. They can only treat 10 patients a day because the room needs an hour between each person requiring aerosol treatments for the room to settle. Therefore the capacity is a lot less than 10 and 20 minute appointments back in the day.

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/11/2020 18:57

I do appreciate that they have less available appointments but this really is the death of NHS treatment, the other side is that when we could get check-ups, all 4 of us were in and out within a total of 10 minutes. The text we had from the dentist offering private only was the Friday before all treatments were able to be offered from the Monday. I queried why only private and was told it was because the government guidelines prevented them from offering anything other than emergency extractions. I sent them the link to the latest guidance and heard nothing since. No offer to go on the waiting list, nothing. We can get private treatment or NHS extraction. That's it. We were thinking of moving before all this happened as they are a bit shit generally. Obviously no chance of that now.

WouldBeGood · 10/11/2020 19:05

This. The health service isn’t a gift to us, we pay for it. Happy to do the right thing in March.

Not now. I was referred for investigation in February and it’s happening in December after I paid for an initial private consultation and she referred me back in, unimpressed.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/11/2020 19:32

Exactly. I'm fed up of being told to be hopelessly grateful for every crumb of care.

For clarity - I am entirely, 100% in favour of free at point of delivery, "socialist" medicine. I do not want a US health service. But I don't think that means the NHS is above reproach and I hate that anytime you try to discuss its weaknesses there's normally a "would you rather pay" response when we already do pay, just in a different way.
