October lockdown?

Hi
I can’t see another thread on this and I think it’s more Scotland than general CV related.

Any thoughts on this? I’m a teacher and there’s been no word at work but I’m hoping to go away for a week in half term (west coast) and really really hoping lockdown doesn’t happen! Selfish I know, but we need a break!

Anyone got any views on the likelihood?

3 sweaty buddies so far...:)

We're leaving tomorrow for Northumberland. We shall be out of here just after midday so whatever he announces, it will be too late. We are going. If we have to switch to having takeaway rather than eating out a couple of nights, so be it.

The only other thing we'd planned was a day at Beamish, but haven't booked anything as we were hanging on to see what the weather did.

titsbumfannythelot · 11/10/2020 21:08

We're heading to Lancashire too. If we need to sit in, so be it. It'll be a different four walls to stare at.

Rae36 · 11/10/2020 22:10

We're hoping to visit friends in Chester in a week's time, staying in a hotel but with a trip to the zoo planned. I won't settle until we're actually there. If we can have this weekend then I'll resign myself to being at home all winter, but I really want to see my pals once before then.

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 22:13

Half the pleasure of a trip is anticipating and planning what you are going to do, this one is just all about the stress about whether you are going to get there and if you'll be able to do anything if you do.

WouldBeGood · 11/10/2020 22:21

@WaxOnFeckOff that’s why this is all so fucking miserable.

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 22:26

Yep, I went out tonight and stocked up on booze to take with us - had a fair bit (as we need to try some of it out this week) fortunately no-one challenged me on whether I was having a pairty....Grin Though to be fair I went to a few different shops. I've frozen some steaks to take with us which we'll only defrost if we can't go out for a meal.

WouldBeGood · 11/10/2020 22:28

I’m staying home if fun is banned down south too

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 22:37

If the place is allowed to have us then we will be going, I want to see different scenery, smell different smells, see different light, breathe different air etc. Just not sit in my house which is also now my workplace for a few days. I really won't be doing a lot of things that I can't do here to be honest but I will be SOMEWHERE ELSE! DH is out and about working every day so I don't think he quite gets how bad it is when you have no real need to leave the house.

WouldBeGood · 11/10/2020 22:43

Fingers crossed @WaxOnFeckOff

Goingdooolally · 11/10/2020 23:41

@WaxOnFeckOff @WouldBeGood fingers crossed for you.

I had my first date with my husband in Chez Jules in Frederick Street. Nearly 25 years ago!

Anyone remember Le Sept? I had my first (and last) escargots there and thought I was ever so sophisticated🤪🤢

WouldBeGood · 11/10/2020 23:48

Isn’t it funny how Chez Jules connects us? 😊🍷

WouldBeGood · 11/10/2020 23:50

This is their reaction to the news on the new lockdown

October lockdown?
WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 23:54

Oh I loved Le Sept! This is a total trip down memory lane :)

Also miss Lazio on Lothian road. I think you either were a Lazio's or a Dario's fan and basically never went to the other. It felt like treachery. That's probably why DH and I got married - both already Lazio people so clearly compatible :o

Goingdooolally · 11/10/2020 23:56

Darios at 3am after a night out 😁

Yes, it's really mad isn't it?

DH and I sometimes drink red wine from glass tumblers in homage - not quite as scratched up as the ones in Chez Jules.

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 23:58

@Goingdooolally

Darios at 3am after a night out 😁
I once did that after a night out with a female friend, I felt a bit uncomfortable as if the staff knew that I was really a Lazio girl!
WaxOnFeckOff · 12/10/2020 00:03

or stopping off at Malones bakery in the early hours for rolls to give you sustenance for the long walk home. I lived all over Edinburgh and I don't think I ever got a taxi home, either the bus or mostly walk, whether that be out to Corstorphine or Fairmilehead.

WouldBeGood · 12/10/2020 00:10

I once got chucked out of a well dodgy pub with disco in Lothian Road 😂

WouldBeGood · 12/10/2020 00:11

Not through my fault !

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/10/2020 00:18

@WouldBeGood

Not through my fault !
A likely story! :o

Lothian Road wasn't the most sophisticated. Remember that restaurant with the moving puppetry things etc. something to do with gangsters?

WouldBeGood · 12/10/2020 00:28

@WaxOnFeckOff 😳

Goingdooolally · 12/10/2020 05:50

Ahhhh, the fish at the museum, I had my 12th birthday party at Fat Sam’s (I went with 4 friends and my dad gave me a blank cheque to fill out 😍😂) and anyone remember Goldberg's department store?

OP posts:
BrazenlyDefying · 12/10/2020 09:14

I remember fat sams - was that the place with the meat hooks still hanging on the ceiling?

There was also a brilliant american style pizza place in Rose street, at the Fraser's end. Ike's I think?
