October lockdown?

Hi
I can’t see another thread on this and I think it’s more Scotland than general CV related.

Any thoughts on this? I’m a teacher and there’s been no word at work but I’m hoping to go away for a week in half term (west coast) and really really hoping lockdown doesn’t happen! Selfish I know, but we need a break!

Anyone got any views on the likelihood?

Thanks rosemary. It seems kind of shocking this isn’t addressed fully. They are just leaving people to make there own risk assessment now

throwingawaymyshot · 07/10/2020 18:05

also do we definitely need to wear masks in corridors and staf canteens at work?

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 18:06

I believe so.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 18:10

There's no travel ban but we've been told not to go outwith our regions in the central belt and not to travel to the central belt.

So back to, "it's not banned, but don't do it"

Our trip is to the lake district, hopefully Boris keps the head and we can go for meal while we are there.

Aragog · 07/10/2020 18:23

Will it mean that hotel restaurant and bars will be closed early for food too.
It will affect the first 2-3 days of our holiday in the highlands. We are staying in hotels those days.

LizzieMacQueen · 07/10/2020 18:24

How many days ago did we stop the Eat out to Help Out? Less than 40. Some turnaround.

Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 18:25

Hotel residents will be able to eat in their hotel beyond 6pm, up until 10 pm. But unless outside will not be allowed alcohol.

Goingdooolally · 07/10/2020 18:33

So do we go ahead with our trip to the west coast? We’re Lothians. We’re staying in an Airbnb. Bit worried that even if we do go we’ll not be welcome Sad

@ActualAl

It is very confusing. We were meant to be travelling from central belt to North Yorkshire for holiday next week. Self catering cottage, no plans to mix households, eat out. Do we still go, can we still go? Technically i think we can but should we? Not sure if we'll be refunded it we don't either. 😵
We;re in the same boat, we are going. It's not banned. As for should you, yes you absolutely should. Long, shitey winter ahead.
Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 18:37

I thought the Lothians were part of the stricter restrictions, where travel to and from was discouraged.

It'll be like nipping out for a fag, you'll need to nip out for a quick glass of wine etc. and then back to your table.
Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 18:39

Or nip to the loo and have a swig from a hip flask.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 18:40

you'll need a straw so you can drink from it while wearing a mask? :o

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 18:41

Or have a great big long straw that reaches to your hip flask while you are sat at the table..

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 18:42

Or a straw that splits in two, one half going into the cola on the table and the other into the voddie in your flask, so it mixes before it reaches your mouth.

Lidlfix · 07/10/2020 18:43

Wish I was still overseeing Young Enterprise Wax, that straw could be pioneering Grin

WouldBeGood · 07/10/2020 18:44

@MarshaBradyo

She's just realised what we all knew months ago - that she can't eradicate this virus

Probably. It’s easier once you get through that thought process

Yep
Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 18:45

Or keep your coat on...😁

I'm thinking you could have straws of different widths so you could get the proportions to your taste and you'd need someone with a physics head on to calculate the different velocities because of the varying distance - definitely onto a winner though. Also of great use for weddings in expensive venues?
WouldBeGood · 07/10/2020 18:47

@Bytheloch it’s not super fun to go on a city break where no restaurants or pubs are open

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 18:48

@Justmuddlingalong

Or keep your coat on...😁
Oh yes, camelbak...
Goingdooolally · 07/10/2020 18:50

@Justmuddlingalong discouraged but not banned. Where does it leave those that have booked?!

OP posts:
Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 18:51

I know that's why I used the word discouraged and not banned.

Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 18:53

Sorry posted too soon. I think it then becomes a personal decision.

Aragog · 07/10/2020 18:58

Best bring a big coat!! I'm guessing we will be allowed to take a bottle of wine up to our room, as take away perhaps?!

Least we can eat after 6pm in a hotel then. Was going to be a pain otherwise!

Our holiday is from 23rd (but arriving late on) til the following Sunday, so only actually affects the first coupe of days all being well.

We are flying up so can't bring stuff with us.

We're driving the NC500 so have a number of hotel rooms and SC places booked.
