October lockdown?

Hi
I can’t see another thread on this and I think it’s more Scotland than general CV related.

Any thoughts on this? I’m a teacher and there’s been no word at work but I’m hoping to go away for a week in half term (west coast) and really really hoping lockdown doesn’t happen! Selfish I know, but we need a break!

Anyone got any views on the likelihood?

Fucking this

tigger1001 · 07/10/2020 15:46

@throwingawaymyshot

I misheard, can someone clarify?

Central belt pubs are to close completely and everywhere else is 6-6 but only food and no alcohol?

Or is it 6-6 everywhere?

I think that's right
Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 15:46

I thought it was no alcohol before 6pm and only outdoor alcohol 6pm til 10pm. I'm totally confused.

MarshaBradyo · 07/10/2020 15:47

Ha at the confusion

Just what Willie Rennie said..Wink

52andblue · 07/10/2020 15:48

is Swinney due to speak today, does anyone know?

presumably thats all the 'big news' today?

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:50

Thought he was talking at 4.30?

AgentCooper · 07/10/2020 15:53

@nibdedibble

I just came on to say Willie Rennie is a fanny 😂
I witnessed an elderly lady shouting at him once outside Morrison’s in St Andrews. It was pretty funny.
nibdedibble · 07/10/2020 16:00

I have an interest in what Swinney announces but JESUS he is a terrible speaker

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 07/10/2020 16:01

@nibdedibble It's disjointed and I think it will be confusing for some.

We are not insisting that people cancel any half term breaks they have planned but advise people living in the Central Belt not to travel outside the health board area they live in if they don't need to.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 16:06

well people were only supposed to go abroad if it was essential so I think most folk will "need to" travel outside their own area. Unless they open up a costco in the forth valley then i think i will be breaking this "advice" soon.

NotAnActualSheep · 07/10/2020 16:08
@RosemaryTelephoneOperator What’s confusing? Don’t go anywhere if you don’t need to, but they accept people have holidays booked so be extra careful if you decide to go.
It is quite confusing though. "Don't travel outside or into the central belt, unless you have a holiday booked, which you can go on (though we'd rather you didn't), but if you do go, you'll only be able to eat at your hotel (if they think it's worth opening their restaurant) or live off cheese toasties from costa, or you could get in a few pot noodles and eat them in the park or your hotel bedroom. But NO WINE... Oh, and we don't want you to use public transport because its non essential, so you can't travel around Scotland while you're here if you don't have a car. But yes, Visit Scotland because we are so welcoming. Haste ye back"

MrsAmaretto · 07/10/2020 16:10

Well that's just blown our October holiday out the water. Will I get a refund on our fights, car hire and self catering from he north of Scotland to The central belt?

if it's self catering you can still cook at yours can't you? it's mainly pubs and restaurants what has been affected.
RaraRachael · 07/10/2020 16:13

Thanks for basically killing off my holiday plans NS. Again, the North are punished. I don't know if I'm angry or upset. I can't take much more of this. That's all the thanks that school staff get for coming back a week early and working in horrible conditions Sad Angry

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 16:14

Swinney is on Scottish parliament TV now.

titsbumfannythelot · 07/10/2020 16:15

You'll need matchsticks for your eyes. The man is a walking sedative

celtiethree · 07/10/2020 16:17

Nat 5s Center assesses grade. 2-4 pieces of quality work per subject not quantity. Each school sampled, moderation to be in place but no algorithm.

Higher/AH exam diet pushed back to May 13th. Checkpoints in place to put in place contingency if needed.

What's confusing about it ? No pubs open at all in the areas mentioned, cafes without a licence allowed to stay open until 6pm to allow for people to have somewhere to go and meet up with someone to prevent social isolation.
MarshaBradyo · 07/10/2020 16:19

What's confusing about it ?

Well if you read the thread you’ll see.

Votesforpedro · 07/10/2020 16:20

Smart move actually, considering cases and large outbreaks are tracked back to pubs.

LizzieMacQueen · 07/10/2020 16:21

@WaxOnFeckOff

and a good day to bury bad news?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-54439758

So we've had covid Maggie - now is it Dementia Nicky? Hmm

Is this why today's restrictions came today rather than on the usual Thursday review?

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 16:24

What time are we allowed to stay up to? Is it lights out at 8 with street patrols to make sure - oh and central belt lights out is 7.30.

If you are good you can sit by yourself sipping tap water while reading the bits of the old testament about the plague as long as you wear a mask and don't enjoy yourself too much.

Nae doot. And MF still not resigned, maybe she just forgot too?

PseudoSudocrem · 07/10/2020 16:25

So, is this correct, all restaurants, bars etc can open 6am to 6pm but not serve alcohol.. Or only unlicensed premises can open 6am to 6pm?
