October lockdown?

Hi
I can’t see another thread on this and I think it’s more Scotland than general CV related.

Any thoughts on this? I’m a teacher and there’s been no word at work but I’m hoping to go away for a week in half term (west coast) and really really hoping lockdown doesn’t happen! Selfish I know, but we need a break!

Anyone got any views on the likelihood?

It must be horrendous to be doing NS job right now. I usually like her confident style, but that is not present today. Either she knows something we don't, or she does not believe this will work - or she has come up against some pretty rattling opposition. Either way its probably not the news she wanted to deliver.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 15:25

She sounds and looks knackered. Woman’s not had a day or night off since March.

At her own hand.

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:26

Lizzie McQueen there is no lessening of any restrictions.
Just new curbs on hospitality. Plus request not to travel outside your health area if in central belt. Avoid public transport where possible in those areas.

BrazenlyDefying · 07/10/2020 15:27

Willie Rennie is the voice of sanity.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 15:28

[quote Justmuddlingalong]I think she's bricking it about the Alex Salmond story that's broken.

yes, i posted that earlier - a good day to bury (more) bad news.

So what is the exit strategy here? Just wait until we've all lost our jobs and jumped in front of a train?

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:28

Agree on Rennie.

nibdedibble · 07/10/2020 15:28

I just came on to say Willie Rennie is a fanny 😂

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:29
Grin
Justmuddlingalong · 07/10/2020 15:29

Sorry @WaxOnFeckOff. I missed your link.

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:29

There's s politician for everyone perhaps!

BrazenlyDefying · 07/10/2020 15:30

Just wait until we've all lost our jobs and jumped in front of a train?

Pretty much. Because jumping in front of a train is not Covid, and therefore does not matter. Hmm

What a pile of absolute SHITE. There are so many restaurants/bars who just won't ever come back from this.

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 07/10/2020 15:30

So confusing. Just checked what she said about travel restrictions on SNP twitter account:

NS: "We are not imposing mandatory travel restrictions at this stage, and specifically, we are not insisting that people cancel any half term breaks they have planned. But, in general, we are advising people living in Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire & Arran, Lothian and Forth Valley not to travel outside the health board area they live in, if you don’t need to. And likewise, people in other parts of Scotland should not travel to these areas if they don’t need to."

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:31

@BrazenlyDefying. Your post did make me laugh out loud. Thanks!😂

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:33

ROI have shut ALL indoor hospitality!

MarshaBradyo · 07/10/2020 15:33

If there’s no alcohol after 6pm you may as well say I want to close restaurants but not really close them, hmm yes no wine that’d do it.

nibdedibble · 07/10/2020 15:33

@RosemaryTelephoneOperator What’s confusing? Don’t go anywhere if you don’t need to, but they accept people have holidays booked so be extra careful if you decide to go.

anon444877 · 07/10/2020 15:34

I find the NS fangirling of NZ funny - she sets out why Scotland isn't like NZ in terms of geographical borders (ahem hello vital difference) and then carries on regardless!

nibdedibble · 07/10/2020 15:36

I think she’s just envious of NZ being on its own. That border with England must nip her heid

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:37

But she has an English granny..Wink

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/10/2020 15:38

Sorry *@WaxOnFeckOff*. I missed your link.
No worries, just showing that at least two of us are on the case. Smile
MarshaBradyo · 07/10/2020 15:38

Where does the funding come from? Does she have to ask for it or is it already allocated and ready to go

That makes things trickier

BrazenlyDefying · 07/10/2020 15:39

You can't have a meal and a glass of wine at 7pm, but you can go to the pub at 6am in the morning and get trollied.

OK then, makes sense. Hmm

SallySeven · 07/10/2020 15:40

Pubs are shutting in central belt.

Ha, you never know with how things are going

You can't buy alcohol in the pub though? They are only open 6-6 for food and soft drinks indoors - outdoors can continue under the current guidelines
