Speechless and disgusted. Is it thoughtlessness? Arrogance? Panic?

I actually don't think resignation would be good enough. She needs sacked and charged.

@sonicbook, few other figures are as sanctimonious...
Still, why don't all hairdressers go bust is now an even bigger mystery.
I think they (as a whole, minus BJ) actually missed a golden opportunity. If they had let their hair grow they could have claimed "we are all in this together" and you would have had visible proof of it. Probably they run some focus groups and decided it wasn't a good strategy.

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 11:34

Hmmokay then.

Sonicbook I also can't believe my eyes this morning! The FM has been working her behind off throughout the pandemic and people are declaring she lied about her HAIR.
She well and truly broke through the glass ceiling and is looked up to by many young girls. Let's try not to reduce ourselves to 1950s sexist bs.

AnnieHoo · 11/10/2020 12:05

A blip FFS.

BlueThistles · 11/10/2020 12:58

they haven't even sacked Derek Mackay accused of sexting/grooming, he's sat at home on full pay and will be until the next election, so there's no chance Margaret Ferrier will quit, why would she? She knows they can't do anything about it.

It's an utter disgrace 🌺

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 13:06

Outrage over Derek McKay I can understand! There has to be a better way of dealing with these issues.

OP posts:
MumofHunter · 11/10/2020 13:07

I can't believe the police didn't or couldn't charge him. We need a new law in that case, no?

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 13:08

Yep and she'll get what, about another 3 years pay out of it? At least he'll hopefully get the bums rush at the next Holyrood elections. Prepare for them to be delayed if the polls aren't looking great due to Covid.
chrislilleyswig · 11/10/2020 13:31

Margaret Ferrier. A big boy made me do it.

Plus an interview in the sun

She's all class really, isn't she

ScaramoucheFandango · 11/10/2020 14:03

Watch the numbers climb on that petition.

BrazenlyDefying · 11/10/2020 14:10

Problem with the petition, @Aurea, is that it's not a constituency member who started. It was George "shall i be the cat" Galloway. Seeing his name on it just makes me go urgh, no, not signing that. It's the "Tommy Sheridan" effect.

Aurea · 11/10/2020 14:15

Maybe, but my disgust for the manner in which she has flouted rules, ignored health advice and endangered the public is greater than my annoyance for whom started the petition. Although I don't like the man, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment of the petition.

BlueThistles · 11/10/2020 14:33

she has thick skin that's certain 🌺

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 14:54

I've signed, at least it's a way of showing how many people are disgusted. I don't expect it to actually do anything practical and we know gorgeous george is doing it as he fancies a go at the seat, but not really bothered about that.

NotAnActualSheep · 11/10/2020 15:00

This is outrageous! Can't believe she's gone for the "covid does weird things to your eyesight mind" angle. Given her response to DCs similar excuse. And she was worried she would have to self isolate in a hotel. Well, yes, that shouldn't be such a strain for someone on a decent salary. Would only have been about a week from when her symptoms started to complete the 10 days and she could have worked from the room. Or she could have stayed in her home in the first place and then she wouldn't have had to...

The BBC article quotes NS as saying she can't unilaterally expel MF from the SNP (fair enough!) so I hope the process is underway in the party to do that. I can't believe there wouldn't be enough people in the party thinking that is the only option, for it to be a relatively easy decision for them. Or if they don't, maybe they are less outraged and disgusted by it than they claim...

Mischance · 11/10/2020 17:22

The Scottish police will be under pressure from the PM to not press charges, as happened with DC.

Just deep-seated corruption in high places.

Sturmundcalm · 11/10/2020 17:59

Can't believe I'm engaging but I actually looked at the FM's hair the other day on TV and thought you could see the difference from during lockdown. It's all high/low-lighted now whereas in May I would have said it was just a solid (darker) colour - which is what ends up happening if you do your own vs a hairdresser.

And I'm not a fan of her or the SNP but I agree with comments upthread that it's really unhelpful to focus on a powerful woman's image. Even if it's about whether or not she lied over access to a hairdresser all it does is drag us back to the idea that women's worth is tied up in their appearance.

Margaret Ferrier is the same as Derek Mackay and Mark MacDonald - she's going to struggle to get another job now so she's going to hold out for the money she has got as long as possible. All they prove is that the cybernat stuff about "corrupt tories/westminster" is absolute mince - their own politicians, whether at Holyrood or Westminster, are no better... Not convinced they are any worse than any other party TBH but the SNP definitely don't hold any moral high ground at the moment!

Arkadia · 11/10/2020 18:16

@Sturmundcalm,

What nonsense. The issue is not the image (although it is clearly important to almost anyone who appears on TV), but whether or not she had access to a hairdresser and a make up artist during lockdown (just like anyone else who appears on TV), and then she had a picture taken while celebrating being allowed to go to the hairdresser for the first time in 6 months.
So, as she is a woman that's ok if she lied about it?

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 18:31

Jesus Christ @Arkadia give it a rest.

Do you actually have any evidence that she had access to a hairdresser or make up artist?

OP posts:
Arkadia · 11/10/2020 18:39

@sonicbook, as I said, her hair speaks volumes. In any case I was replying to @sturmundcalm's comment.

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 18:43

Sounds like a tag line for a shampoo advert - you in marketing? Smile

Sorry I didn't realise it was a private conversation what with it being on a public thread?

OP posts:
Arkadia · 11/10/2020 18:47

The pun was intended 😀
I was pointing out that the subject had been brought back to life and I was replying to a different (not really hairdresser related) point.
In any case, everyone, including BJ, Whitty and Valance, will have had access to make up artists before appearing on TV.

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 18:49

Well we can at least agree on a great pun!

I very much doubt it.

Can I ask how it was resurrected? Is there new evidence?
