Speechless and disgusted. Is it thoughtlessness? Arrogance? Panic?

I actually don't think resignation would be good enough. She needs sacked and charged.

BrazenlyDefying · 11/10/2020 09:37

Unfortunately she can;t be sacked. I think IF she's convicted then potentially she could be, but we're a way off that yet. Let's hope someone at the Met or Police Scotland has seen her sad face interview in the Sun and are equally incensed by the stupid woman. Throw the book at her. Rules are confusing my backside.

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 09:37

Absolutely staggered that the woman won't resign.

OP posts:
Mischance · 11/10/2020 09:40

Me too! She does not have a clue. So many people in positions of responsibility deep down believe that rules do not apply to them. I bet NS is steaming mad at this announcement.

testing987654321 · 11/10/2020 09:46

It was a blip, out of character, she panicked, wasn;t thinking straight.

It's so insulting, exactly the same as Cummings and his drive to check his eyesight.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 11/10/2020 09:49

If she takes the line that she didnt adhere to Covid Regulations because the illness clouded her judgement, then that should apply to everyone who has Covid. So by her logic, , if you have Covid, you can go to work, pubs, shops, travel on public transport etc because you cant be expected to follow the rules. Madness.

ssd · 11/10/2020 09:49

She is an utter disgrace.

BrazenlyDefying · 11/10/2020 09:55

Honestly I'd have more respect for the woman - but still think she should resign - if she did an interview saying that she knew she'd fucked up, she totally understood that she had put others at risk and that she was very sorry, but that she wanted to continue in position because she had X, Y and Z to offer her voters.

But she hasn't. She's not taking responsibility for her own actions AT ALL. That makes things even worse.

prettybird · 11/10/2020 09:58

Even if she were convicted, only a prison sentence of a year or more would trigger a recall petition. As that is not within the severity of the sanctions for breaking the law which she did do and rightly should be charged then the only way a recall petition will happen is the HoC Standards Committee sanctioning her sufficiently severely.

I wish they would hurry up and do it.

As her SNP Constituency Association has already called on her to resign, I don't see, if there is a successful recall petition (which would require 10% of her constituents to go and sign it in the 6 weeks that it runs), that she would be selected as the SNP candidate in the ensuing by-election Hmm

PapsofJura · 11/10/2020 10:00

As for muddled rules, the self isolating rule for a positive test has been the one consistent in all of this. Plus she seemed pretty clued up on the rules when attacking Dominic Cummings.

She is taking her constituents for fools and I’m sure they see that.

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 10:01

@prettybird will the HoC do that given the PMs reticence to condemn her? Genuinely asking because I'm clueless.

OP posts:
prettybird · 11/10/2020 10:05

To be fair, as I understand it, the Standards Committee is fully independent. I think it comes under the Speaker's area of responsibility.

Arkadia · 11/10/2020 10:07

@sonicbook,
I don't for a second believe the FM got a hairdresser in. Can't believe people won't stop going on about it. It's genuinely pathetic.
It is a bit like the movie stars who NEVER got work done, isn't it?
Hairdressers were shut for what, 6 months? I suppose she could have coloured her hair herself, but the hair never grew. I have curly hair, so they stay more "compact" naturally, but you still knew I needed to have it cut.
Maybe her husband is a professional hairdresser?

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 10:22

It's amazing @Arkadia they sell these things called scissors. People can have members of their own household trim their hair and sometimes people might even manage it themselves. There are even YouTube tutorials. Shock horror.

I have hairdresser friends who were all in agreement that her hair was pretty shit throughout the pandemic. I'm no expert myself because I don't spend my days examining scissor lines in people looking for bullshit.

Did you pay as close attention to all politicians hair or just the female ones? What about Boris? His hair remained its usual level of unkempt throughout as well.

Like I said. Pathetic.

OP posts:
prettybird · 11/10/2020 10:23

I've looked into it a bit and it all seems very convoluted Sad

As far as I can make out though, we (the public) wouldn't be told anything while an investigation was underway and that an appeal could also add weeks on to the process.

This article from the BBC, although not directly applicable, gives the impression that she wouldn't be sanctioned severely enough to trigger a Recall Petition Angry

New penalties proposed for rule breaking MPs

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 10:28

I can't help but think that independent committee or not, anything to do with holding an MP to account will be tricky, time consuming and opaque!

The whole thing is a total scunner. I don't really want to bay for the woman's blood but I do feel that her actions and the subsequent dealing of said actions will be crucial. Why should we follow the rules of those in power don't.

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 10:33

So essentially she will claim mental health problems, limited to the time she had covid she she is still perfectly able to do her job after the 14 days she's sat on her arse and worked out her strategy. Or someone has helped her work out her strategy as she is too thick confused (due to having covid) .

Arkadia · 11/10/2020 10:37

@sonicbook, you can't deny she was beautifully coiffed throughout and you can see no "before-after" difference.
If it is so easy to achieve such glamorous results, why wasting time and money on hairdressers/barbers?
I have to say, the hairdresser pic she had taken REALLY irqked me.

Arkadia · 11/10/2020 10:43

@sonicbook, let me rephrase it. I would expect that the party and/or the BBC employ hairdressers, and they would not fall into the category of "normal" hairdressers, so they could operate and hence the immaculate look.
However, that makes THAT shot of NS finally at the hairdresser all the more misleading and patronising.

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 10:45

@Arkadia so what you're saying is that politicians etc can make use of BBC hairdressers which are okay but Nicola Sturgeon used a different secret hairdresser which isn't okay and then lied about it and you're raging?

Okay then.

OP posts:
Arkadia · 11/10/2020 10:52

@sonicbook, as you will notice, nobody on TV and no politician had a new pony tail nor a gray line on their forehead that disappeared overnight, so clearly their hair had been tended to.
(The only exception is probably BJ, but I don't believe he patronises hair cutting establishments as a rule...).
If NS can do such a good job by herself, why would she waste time and money on having it done?
A bit like Sophia Loren who never had ANY work done...

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/10/2020 10:53

I think it's the lying that is the problem. I honestly couldn't give a shiny shite whether she did or didn't have someone do her hair.

If that is yet another lie then it's just part of the general deceitfulness and comes lower for me than lying about that meeting for starters.

Arkadia · 11/10/2020 10:57

PS
BJ (or any other public figure I can think of, but I am willing to be proven wrong) didn't take a picture of himself at the hairdresser/barbershop and didn't tweet publicly about it with a big sigh of relief as a caption.
However, among my acquaintances I have seen a few such pics with quite striking before/after effects.

ScaramoucheFandango · 11/10/2020 11:05

She says in that report she has a lot of support!Confused

sonicbook · 11/10/2020 11:09

So now you guys are angry because you think that she might have lied about her hair? There's no new evidence or announcement or anything. There's no hairdresser come out of the woodwork? You're just getting angry over a feeling you had weeks ago?

Maybe you should set up a private detective agency?

Ffs 🙄

OP posts:
sonicbook · 11/10/2020 11:12

@Arkadia no other public figure was getting such shit about their hair.

I'm going to guess the hairdresser picture was an attempt to quell the gossip among idiots who felt that NS was living it up during lockdown with a hairdresser in tow.

There is an actual SNP MP who has fucked up massively yet this thread has turned into a bitching session about NS's hair!

Grow up.
