In despair. Absolutely in despair. Do we have to go through this again? And with such a long lead up to the referendum? Really? What happened to the settled will of the Scottish people?

@statisticallychallenged Will you help me get through this again? (Was Roseformeplease then).

So as expected the Scottish Parliament has voted for another referendum.

Oh well, that's the end of the UK. There's no way on this earth that the result will be the same second time round.

Thanks David Cameron.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 17:22

I think it will.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 28/03/2017 17:22

I think it will too and I don't think it will happen when NS wants it too either.

NoLotteryWinYet · 28/03/2017 17:26

The greens have cooked their electoral goose, as for the next referendum, why be pessimistic? Still no economic case worth making for it.

NoLotteryWinYet · 28/03/2017 17:27

Somebody should start parodying the SNP's political language, they have all been media trained exactly the same!

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 17:28

Neither do I. I think people will see past this bullshit, but I also think that it will get nasty. It is too emotive an issue to have campaign after campaign without it turning in to a disaster.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 17:31

I know... It is funny the way when anyone asks a tricky question they all bow their heads pmsl.

Fontella · 28/03/2017 17:33

I don't think it will be the end of the UK, far from it! I sense a very different mood coming out of Scotland - people have seen through the SNP rhetoric and I don't think the 'silent majority' will be so silent next time.

Plus there's no way May will allow a referendum until the post Brexit dust has settled - that's been made crystal clear and NS can stamp her feet all she likes.

I'm optimistic on both fronts - Brexit and Indyref2 - no point being otherwise. I'm sick of all the gloom and doom hand wringing and crystal ball gazing and prophecies of skies falling in.

The sun will rise and set tomorrow morning like it always does.

trixymalixy · 28/03/2017 17:37

I know the vote was inevitable this afternoon, but I have such a feeling of dismay my chest actually hurts.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 17:40

I am with you

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 28/03/2017 17:42

I think the result will be the same too. In fact, I can see support for independence falling as people realise that there are no serious answers to the big questions and are less likely to fall for the spin. I agree that the silent majority will be out in force this time, and the myth of independence being the 'positive choice' will be thoroughly exposed.

Did anyone else sense panic on the faces of the Greens as it was repeatedly pointed out that they would be breaking their manifesto? I reckon they know the public are not on their side on this one and they will likely pay the price at the ballot box.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 17:43

Hopefully may will send out a massive campaign telling us all not to vote as she has not been given permission.

That way the results of this so called referendum would be completely useless to anyone.

Then may can ignore it.

Fontella · 28/03/2017 17:44

Guys, you have got some really good politicians in the Scottish Parliament on both sides of the political divide. Most of us down here have never heard of them, but I have been mightily impressed by what I've seen and heard in this debate.

They really took the SNP to task and made them VERY uncomfortable - you could actually see them squirming in their seats. It was a joy to behold at times!

Grin

We know the way the vote was always going to go because of the Greens, but think on this - if it wasn't for them - the SNP would have lost! They aren't the all powerful force they think they are and they don't represent 'the Scottish people' as they claim. We elsewhere in the UK, are now aware of this whereas perhaps we weren't before.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 17:45

That is the sort of shit nikki pulled when she told us all to vote remain, then said cos we voted remain we were somehow different to ruk so needed another ref.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 17:46

I really hope people are aware fonty :(

Fontella · 28/03/2017 19:19

Ruth Davidson:

wigglybeezer · 28/03/2017 19:26

I'm not voting Green again, I used to give them my second vote sometimes but I don't like their stance on identity politics ( calling women " non-men" ffs) and their plans to put my council tax up to @ £7000, according to their manifesto. Back to Lib Dems for me. I actually know someone who voted first vote SNP, second vote Tory such was her regard for Ruth D.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 19:59

Yes I'll be tory 1st lib dem or Lab 2nd

MrsJayy · 28/03/2017 20:01

I am here bloody gutted i am just thinking not again Nicola just naw

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 20:08

A lot of english people moved to scotland seeking an alternative green lifestyle in the 90s. I think this will damage the greens badly. Self serving gits. There will be no nettle jam in their Christmas stockings this year!

NoLotteryWinYet · 28/03/2017 20:10

Their granola will taste a bit less crunchy tomorrow :)

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 20:16

They'll never weave themselves out of this one

NoLotteryWinYet · 28/03/2017 20:20

lmao :)

NoLotteryWinYet · 28/03/2017 20:36

Davidson's speech was great, this debate has been great for showing how little the SNP care about the will of their own parliament and shining a light on their failures in government. That makes me feel optimistic about the next campaign when it comes. We are sick of the same old arguments, but I don't see why we can't win again when the time comes. Even if the oil price does recover, it points to a fatal weakness in Scotland's economy that it's budget is so reliant on one commodity. 'Endemic low growth' anyone?

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 21:06

Well yes. It also has shown NS for what she is. A calculated opportunist who will snub democracy when it suits her.
