Ah - have already started searching for next years hols. Got to get my priorities right .

But with 4 to juggle it is not easy - they all seem to want to do different things and there is also a lot going on in the school hols.

I want it to be special as it will probably be ds last one with us - well if he gets a summer job the following year anyway.

I think i may have a go at home made pressies too this year - in fact have just had something delivered today - will update later (if it is not a total disaster)!!!

There that should keep you all checking .

Tanee58 · 29/09/2009 14:17

...Which reminds me... how's your unfinished crosstitch going HW? I'm still quilting away like mad, but it's slow going with everything else to do, and my needy bald cat always wants to sit on my lap every time I sit down (and now that her fur's growing back she leaves hair all over the quilt - which has black squares...)

HappyWoman · 29/09/2009 14:39

still around - but like you often in the way of the children or cats.
I am going to get it finished for first grandchild - which will hopefully be a few years off. So there is no rush.

Anniegetyourgun · 29/09/2009 22:58

Tragic news - I am an ex-granny. The grandferrets couldn't get over their taste for human flesh so they've had to go back to the rescue place where DIL got them from. They have been replaced by a couple of rats. I guess even if these bite their teeth are much smaller!

Oh, this one'll make you laugh (or spit). DS3 went back to uni at the weekend, needed a lift to take all his stuff. It's about 250 miles each way. XH had agreed to drive him provided I paid for the petrol (not DS you note, it had to be me - although what he doesn't know won't hurt him). Then he began to say he couldn't drive all that way because his tyres were badly worn. We didn't fill the expectant silence with an offer to pay for new tyres, so the next thing is that he will drive DS if I lend him MY car! Life is too brief to go into the details of quite why I don't want him near any car of mine, ever again... but suffice it to say I managed to say "no" once I'd finished laughing like a drain. So he said he would drive if we hired a car for him.

I drove DS3 and his effects myself, 250 miles there and the same back in a day, and only got a little bit lost once. Kind of proud of that. XH told DS4 there was "something wrong with me".

Not posting this in AIBU because frankly I don't care whether it's reasonable or not!

ginnny · 30/09/2009 11:04

Annie at the flesh eating ferrets and shivering at the thought of rats (I'm terrified of them!)
Well done for doing the drive and showing exH you can manage things like this without him. What a prat!
Tannee - poor little bald cat! I have a thieving kitten at the moment. She keeps stealing things and hiding them under the stairs like a little magpie!

Tanee58 · 30/09/2009 13:51

Annie - lol at ex but sorry to hear about the ferrets! But rats are lovely Ginnny - really intelligent. My cats occasionally bring baby rats into the house - then I have to rescue them and release them as far away as poss. DP won't go near them. Big, brave man . Ginnny, really hope your kitten doesn't hide anything live under the stairs. I'm suspicious of my freezer as cat 1 keeps sniffing under it.

Ginnny, I think little bald cat probably wants to sit on me because I keep her warm. I'm not flattering myself she loves me though DP says she goes bezerk when I go out and hangs around the window when I'm due home.

HappyWoman · 30/09/2009 15:47

annie well done on the drive - it really makes you feel good when you have done a good job.

My lovely cats do often bring in live things - although the latest is squirrels. We have so far far found 4 tails!!

ginnny · 30/09/2009 17:11

She doesn't go out yet, so hopefully nothing live under there yet.
I lost the truck keys a while ago and I'm sure she had something to do with it. Cost dp £200 for a new set so I'm sticking to my story and blaming her!!!

Anniegetyourgun · 30/09/2009 18:19

That's one of the things cats are really useful for - blaming when things are lost. Especially foodstuffs. Amazing how cats not only like to hide the wrappers under children's beds but even sprinkle crumbs round the children's mouths to put you off the scent. Sneaky things!

HappyWoman · 30/09/2009 18:59

yeah and the mess they make around the house when i have done all the housework wasted the day on mumsnet.

ginnny · 30/09/2009 20:08

... and all the nasty smells. Its amazing how much our cat farts - especially when DP is around her!!!

ladylush · 02/10/2009 10:55

speaking of farts.....my dd does the WORST ones in the world. How can something so teeny produce such disgusting smells?

ladylush · 27/10/2009 15:32

Did I kill this thread?

Anniegetyourgun · 27/10/2009 20:39

I think it was a joint effort

ladylush · 27/10/2009 21:17

How are you?

Anniegetyourgun · 28/10/2009 10:19

Not too bad, thanks. Had a bit of hassle from the school because they reckoned DS4 (12)suffers quite badly from staying at his dad's every other week, so have put pressure on both of us for me to take him full time until XH gets himself organised - which I can say with reasonable confidence will be never. So I'm now effectively as well as legally a single parent. Fortunately I am more or less over the depression, which means I can enjoy my child's company instead of being paralysed in the face of responsibility for another human being. DS has been so bubbly and cheerful since the decision was made that there is no question this is the right thing for him.

Not doing so great at work, but that's a whole other can of worms.

HappyWoman · 29/10/2009 06:45

how is everyone?

Half term going well??

We have all been away for a few days - ds1 is now v ill so not wanting to go to far from him.

Tanee58 · 03/11/2009 14:54

Hi HW - goodness, everyone's gone away - amazing what a potent baby fart can do . Hope you all had good half terms. Does anyone fancy a pre-Christmas meet up in London? Perhaps combined with a bit of Christmas shopping?

HappyWoman · 03/11/2009 15:23

I will

Bit busy though so will need to get a date in asap.

Lovely half term thanks.

Anniegetyourgun · 03/11/2009 21:40

In London? I could do that. Don't work there any more but it's a moderate train ride. (I don't at all worry about pushing in because I know you're all lovely and will be kind enough to assume that I am too).

Tanee58 · 04/11/2009 14:40

Push away Annie - it would be lovely to meet you. Any other takers? Ginnny? We could maybe go where we went last time if we want a child free evening - wonderful pizzas for £5 if we go between Monday and Wednesday, or if we bring the kids, we could do Wagamamas. HW, do you have any dates that would be best for you? I am very flexible.

Anniegetyourgun · 04/11/2009 20:17

Phew, someone replied, I thought I'd killed it off

ginnny · 05/11/2009 10:34

Hi Tannee! How are you?
I would love to meet up again, I really enjoyed the last one.
I'm pretty flexible with dates although Thursday or Friday evenings are best for me as kids are usually out those nights .
Annie - will be nice to meet you too!!
I haven't been on here for AGES! Mostly because I've been really busy but also because things aregoing down the pan with DP again . I really don't want to bore you all with my nonsense any more though - tbh I'm boring myself at the moment and all my friends are starting to make this face at me quite a lot!!!

macdoodle · 05/11/2009 11:53
