I've just received a text from MIL which I think was meant for DH and it has upset me.

The message said 'Looking forward to Sunday, I'll pick you and DGD up at 1.30pm for X's christening, remember not to mention it to DW'
DH has told me that he is going to take DD out for a few hours on Saturday to give me some time to myself, but it looks like he is going to his family members christening and I am not invited.
I didn't know I had upset anyone. DD was christed 6 months ago now and all of his family were invited and his cousin is DD godmother.
I am really upset. I don't know if I should mention it to him or hust leave it.

I am. Keep having to check the dinner though. Good job DP is dropping my camera off to be fixed on his way home from work.

aznerak · 06/11/2008 18:45

Read the whole thread while the DC were eating supper - was gutted to have to leave it whilst they were in the bath but was SO hoping I'd come back to a reply from poor THUM.

Babysitter due to arrive any minute now so will have to stall my departure hoping THUM will be back soon!

How long does it take to kick ass!?!?!?

ilove · 06/11/2008 18:45

I'm supposed to be working...I do hope there is a proper explanation that won't hurt her...sadly I doubt it

TurkeyLurkey · 06/11/2008 18:46

Yes Lisa, got to go out in 15 minutes. AIBU to want the OP to come back ASAP so I can go out without it playing on my mind?

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 06/11/2008 18:46

I just sat eating dinner randomly freshing this thread

morningpaper · 06/11/2008 18:47

It is a strangely artificial text message IMO

lisamaguire · 06/11/2008 18:48

Im just thinking about how much more things may have been going on behind her back that she hasnt found out about, my own mil is a bitch from hell if me and dh fall out but sweetness and light when things are going good!!! MIL's whod have them

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 06/11/2008 18:50

Due to DH having a step mother, I have two MIL's, both are lovely.

wheresthehamster · 06/11/2008 18:51

Yeah, the text IS odd...

lisamaguire · 06/11/2008 18:52

Aren't you lucky elf, my own mother would never dream in meddling in our lives but mil loves it

ilove · 06/11/2008 18:53

ok I'm feeling a bit odd now...why WOULD a MIL who has been on holiday with the DIL do this??

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 06/11/2008 18:55

I do consider it lucky, there are the odd family members (in both mine and his ) but generally everybody gets on well.

Though DH considers "his family" to be me & our DD. Obv we're close to his family (and mine) but our immediate concerns are always for the three of us

what do you mean 'its not like i can tell him not to go' of course you can. why should he exclude you? why should he not treat you as his family? why should he take your dd? if you are not accepted by his family, then your daughter isn't either.

poor you. put your bloody foot down

lisamaguire · 06/11/2008 18:58

Oh i really would love to know hows she getting on, i hope he hasnt upset her anymore than he already has, know how it feels to be lied to by people close and its soooo hurtful

Rindercella · 06/11/2008 18:58

The whole thing is bloody odd and I would love to hear THUM's H's explanation for it all. I mean, it makes no sense to invite her DH and DD to a family event but not to invite her and then to maliciously accidently tell THUM about it via text message. It is absolutely bizarre behaviour imo.

I am delaying giving DD her bath atm, really hoping THUM is kicking ass ok.

poppy34 · 06/11/2008 19:02

just read this and am -what a prince among men.. the going to play call of frigging duty put the tin lid on it (surely his call of duty should be getting the fark home to explain himself)

poor thum -wonder what is happening...

icecreamsoda · 06/11/2008 19:02
Hmm
shootfromthehip · 06/11/2008 19:03

Oh bugger, still nothing? Hope she has grown herself a pair and is telling that man what he can to for forgiveness. (writes mental checklist of all the things it would take to make this ok with me, starting with perfume and ending with forgiving me for lusty affair with Hugh Jackman)- I am soooo shallow.

Seroiusly this is worse than 24.

feelingbitbetter · 06/11/2008 19:04

ilove · 06/11/2008 19:06

feelingbitbetter · 06/11/2008 19:07
