8000 posts - how do we find so much to talk about

OP posts:
Dior · 06/01/2009 13:02

Oh, you were brave then! I did mine and then panicked because I didn't think I would be able to get the thing out again .

TimeForMe · 06/01/2009 13:10

Fubsy · 06/01/2009 13:10

Eeeeauuurgh - tmi!

Glad youre around tho Dior! I skimmed a couple of threads and Ive got the gist. That would have pissed me off terribly - I never could stand the cliquiness of some threads, especially those awful name your fave Mner etc etc.

Better off on ravelry i say!

Dior · 06/01/2009 13:18

Fubsy - have you been on Crafter...oo yet? You should - it would be lovely to 'see' you there.

Tip for TFM - bear down - always gets the thing out...

Tanee58 · 06/01/2009 13:25

TFM enjoy your mooncup .

OK, I will not waste my time on the unmentionable threads - sounds like a lucky escape. I do wonder at how personally nasty some MNers can be. It seems so pointless and unnecessarily hurtful. I much prefer our happy brew, and how we welcome newies (like me two years ago ).

ginnny · 06/01/2009 13:30

Definitely a lucky escape there then! Its all too easy to get sucked into these things on here but at the end of the day its so not worth it. I too can't believe how bitchy some people get, but then I guess its the same in RL when you put a whole lot of women together
Dior - My Mum bought me a beading starter kit for Christmas but I am all thumbs and I spent a whole afternoon on it and only managed to produce a tangled up mess so I really take my hat off to you for all your wonderful creations. It really isn't as easy as it looks is it? I'm going to persevere a bit longer though!

Tanee58 · 06/01/2009 13:34

TFM, have you seen the new Mooncup thread? It sounds like they're discussing origami !

TimeForMe · 06/01/2009 13:51

Thanks for the tip Dior

Yes Tanee, it was the new thread combined with a couple of very large vodka's that finally made me order one. So far so good, am resisting the urge to pop upstairs to check if it's working

Regarding the nastiness lately, I think it's very easy for some people to hide behind the internet and just say what they feel without any thought for the consequences. Let's be fair, we can't expect everyone to be as nice as us

Lilyloo · 06/01/2009 14:04

Glad to hear the mooncup going well TFM and lol at the stickers

Glad you had good time away HW / Tannee. My sil in Adelaide and got engaged over xmas and wants us all to go to wedding! Doubt we can afford it but would love to go!

Well should have been back at work yesterday so am officially a SAHM! Seem to have less time now to do things than when i worked lol!

Caught the outline of the moldies thread! How sad you have been so hurt by it Dior hope you can stick around and get over it!

Well off to get ds i am busing it today as dp car buggered so i am on my 5th bus trip of the day! Adventure for the dc's wearing thin now and completely gone for me

Dior · 06/01/2009 16:52

Ginny - if you need any help, email me and I'll try to talk you through it. Can you do a link to the kit? I am all jealous interested now .

theladysnowlush · 06/01/2009 17:52

Just realised I haven't changed my name back. Will do it after
Dior - sorry to hear you had a hard time on a thread. Know the feeling well. Didn't follow that thread, but might take a peek (promise not to comment!).
TFM - sorry about mil
Tanee - have a very vivid image of Miss Haversham standing on a hill in the Lakes. Will try to get rid of it before bedtime Seriously though, glad the wedding went well

Baffy · 06/01/2009 19:30

lily definitely try and save up to go to the wedding if you can - it will be sooooo worth it! I went to Australia on my honeymoon and I'm not sure I'll ever get back there, so I'm so glad I went, I loved every second. Make it into the holiday of a lifetime and enjoy!

Honest, please, no more mooncup talk! It makes me wince every time! I don't do bodily functions!! How I ever had ds, and how I'll have this one, is a mystery to me! I think I've blocked the whole thing out. The stitches, the horrendous bleeding... to me it was just a lovely harmonious period of my life where ds just casued a few little pains, popped out, and everything was back to normal in a day.
The power of the mind hey!

I have to say I wasted 2 hours of my life reading the mouldie threads
I just hope everyone who was genuinely hurt by it can find a way past it.
But no further comment!

I have some happy news too - I have found a lovely little house, with a gorgeous garden, and put an offer in on it! Keep everything crossed for me!

TimeForMe · 06/01/2009 20:23

baffy, we can't claim to be true mn'ers if we don't mention the mooncup! It's all part and parcel, just like piles in pregnancy. Imagine a grin emoticon here, am posting on my phone and not worked out how to do brackets yet.
Good luck with your house. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

Australia would be lovely lily, thats the only place i would be prepared to get on a plane to go. I will keep my fingers crossed for you too, for a lottery win. Grin.

Close your eyes baffy, mooncup update, it's blooming brilliant!

TimeForMe · 06/01/2009 20:26

ignore me, found brackets, just checking they work.

Baffy · 06/01/2009 21:26

haha get you and your phone

very

HappyWoman · 07/01/2009 07:27

Glad to see you are back dior - you are among friends here.

Very busy here - whats new - so i havent had that chance to catch up on this or the unmentionable threads so i will stay innocent.

Love that meet up tannee and dior - only touble only have one car at the moment and so need to wait until we have another one - sorry.

Looking for a people carrier - grand voyager hopefully so if you knwo of any let me know. Not my car of choice but needed for the brood.

Hi to everyone and hope you are all sticking to the NYR.

Tanee58 · 07/01/2009 10:40

HW - my exH and I used to own a Toyota Previa as he used to drive American tourists around. I loved it - plenty of room (7 seater), comfy, and soooo reliable! I wouldn't drive anything but a Toyota - my little Corolla is 12 years old and has never broken down. Hope you find a car soon as we need that meetup

Dior · 07/01/2009 13:25

HW, if Tanee can get to me, I could drive us both your way...

Glad you like the mooncup TFM, and can I just say it is lovely to have you back on here .

Baffy - sorry to mention the MC word in your presence .

Tanee58 · 07/01/2009 14:04

Dior, I could certainly come up by train & meet you at the station as before if that's ok.

Baffy, any news on your house offer? Fingers crossed!!!

TimeForMe · 07/01/2009 14:37

Hi Ladies just checking in.

Thank you Dior I'm pleased to see you haven't let the 'other stuff' run you out of town.

Ooh Baffy my new phone is fab! It's got a little keyboard and I can post on here from my bed which is where I was last night when I posted, waiting for the Claire Sweeney programme to start. Did anyone see it? She ate exactly what she wanted for 6 weeks and put on 2 stone! I then went to sleep dreaming about the HUGE delicious looking triple burger she ate!

Hope everyone is ok. I've been a domestic godess today, cleaning and batch baking. Sometimes I just love being a 'housewife'. How are you going Dior? Are you still enjoying being at home?

ladylush · 07/01/2009 16:41

Sounds idyllic TFM I like the idea of a lady who lunches rather than a housewife By the way, never considered a MC because thought it might be messy when one has to empty it/clean it.....too much messing about

Baffy - hope you get the house. Sounds lovely

Tanee58 · 07/01/2009 17:22

I fancy being a lady who lushes - sorry, lunches.

Agree about the MC - I had the experience once with my diaphragm when my period started whilst I was wearing it. Not a pretty sight !

Sorry Baffy, you must be cringing ! At least you don't need to worry about all this for a few months. How is the mini teabag brewing?

ladylush · 07/01/2009 17:34

Hey, don't rule out the lushing

Dior · 07/01/2009 17:35

Oh you are all a bunch of wusses. The mooncup is FAB! I would NEVER go back to tampons. I love my Mooncup - although not enough to wear one of TFM's stickers out in public .

TFM - hmm, housewife...I am getting bored if I am totally honest. I haven't arranged enough coffees/lunches to offset the 'being at home' and have begun to stagnate a little. I am even thinking about applying for a job at the local pre-school . Mind you, crafting has benefitted, which has been nice.

Diet has gone out of the window. I am going back to WW tomorrow for the bad news and then will be back on track (I hope).

I am still posting on this thread, although avoiding others at the moment. I couldn't leave you lot - even if you told me to eff off .

ladylush · 07/01/2009 17:43

Glad to hear it Dior......now eff off
Job at pre-school sounds great - you will be a real asset with your crafting
Good luck with getting back on track with the diet - I have vowed to do the same wrt exercise. Went awry after the m/c.
