8000 posts - how do we find so much to talk about

OP posts:
ginnny · 04/01/2009 22:36

Dior - I hope you don't leave. I'll miss you. Don't know what kicked off on here over Xmas, but it would be a shame to lose you over it. Although I hope we can still stay in touch on FB.
TFM - sorry to hear about your Grandma, but glad you managed to have a good Christmas and New Year and that you are planning to stick around on here for a while.
I don't know what's going on on here at the moment. I only tend to look at this thread and one or two others now, the others seem so bitchy and judgemental, which is sad as I'm sure it must put new people off.

OP posts:
TimeForMe · 04/01/2009 22:40

Hi Ginny I totally agree re the bitchiness on some threads, thats why I think we should all regroup, bring some humour back

I've just had a couple of Vodka's and, after reading a thread on here have ordered a mooncup!! Does that mean I'm a proper initiated MN'er now?

ginnny · 04/01/2009 23:00

Definitely!!
You have the badge of honour now!!!!

OP posts:
TimeForMe · 04/01/2009 23:26

That may be Ginny, but I will NOT be wearing it on my lapel!

Baffy · 05/01/2009 10:39

lily - can't believe dd2 is 1 where is the time going?! how is she?

TFM! You are a 'proper' MNer now

I do agree with you guys about the other threads. I don't know what's going on on here anymore. I do tend to lurk and read through anything that catches my interest, but tbh I never seem to have the energy or inclination to post anymore. Even the ante natal thread that I joined I just couldn't get into. I felt invisible! I'm sticking with this one. Will read the rest for fun. But leave them all to it!

(I think I'm just old and miserable these days!!)

Lilyloo · 05/01/2009 11:51

LOL at everyone regrouping would love it if the 'old teabags' could chat on here again!!

DD is into everything i forgot how hard toddlers are tbh!

I am trying to enjoy it though as she is my last baby and know how quickly it passes by!

TFM

TimeForMe · 05/01/2009 12:29

Erm.. Less of the 'old' please Lily!

I think MN lately can only be compared to an online version of the Jeremy Kyle show! Less said the better me thinks!

TimeForMe · 05/01/2009 12:36

Oooh girls, quick update - my mooncup has been despatched!!

I only ordered it last night so that's good service! You really should take a look, it comes in a lovely little bag and I get some stickers too!

idontlikecricket · 05/01/2009 13:25

time for me whats the mooncup like? I've always seen it in the health store and been intrigued.......

Im trying to be more "natural" non chemical cleaners, super healthy foods, natural and herbal remedies etc, so I am intrigued....

ps any idea what would be good for a stye in a toddler?
ps sorry for hijacking fab and glam

TimeForMe · 05/01/2009 13:42

This will be my first one IDLC but I am happy to let you know how I get on with it. Did you see the 10 page thread on it? It was that which finally sold it to me. I'm with you on the more natural products and the super healthy foods and supplements etc too, that was my new years resolution. By the end of 2009 I want to look like Cheryl Cole!

As for the stye on the eye, bathe with cooled boiled water. I used to bathe my babies eye's with cooled boiled milk, that was passed on to me by my grandma but I'm not sure what it's supposed to do lol. I will have a google for you and report back

TimeForMe · 05/01/2009 13:47

Ok, here goes. Make a compress out of a flannel using warm not hot water. Hold it over the eye for 10 to 15 minutes at a time and repeat 3 to 4 times a day. The heat will draw the 'yuk' to the front of the stye making it break open and drain quicker than it would if you just left it to happen naturally. HTH

idontlikecricket · 05/01/2009 13:49

thx. Will try that. poor thing, shes really run down with it.

ginnny · 05/01/2009 14:12

I use Golden Eye ointment which is great but you probably can't use it on toddlers.
TFM - STICKERS!!! Where on earth do you stick them??? I'm imagining TFM proudly wearing her "I'm using my mooncup today" sticker

OP posts:
Baffy · 05/01/2009 14:49

I'm all for the natural route too but honestly, for me, the mooncup is just a step too far! I'd need a lot of persuading to get one of those!!
I'll leave that one to you TFM Cheryl
Do report back on it though! Am intrigued now!

TimeForMe · 05/01/2009 15:00

I will be wearing my stickers and swinging my little bag with pride! I will give you all an indepth review on it don't worry

You should read the recent thread Baffy, whilst drinking large Vodka's, you would be convinced then, trust me!

Tanee58 · 05/01/2009 16:38

Happy New Year girls.

TFM, really sorry to hear about your gran. That is so sad, you must have missed her.

LOL at your mooncup though. We never had them in my day (geriatric ). Not sure I could have coped with one!

We had a fabulous time in the Lake District - though it WAS cold oop on Moor. The bride must have been perishing. She's 67 and looked a bit like Miss Haversham in white dress and veil, but heck, she's never been married before, so why shouldn't she dress up . When she was young, she looked like a Bond Girl! Still has huge eyes and amazing hair. The hotel where we stayed & had the reception was a bit like The Shining - and we all had very weird dreams both nights, which was spooky, but a good time was had by all. DP and I looked fabulous , danced a lot and managed a wet patch at last sorry, TMI but it's been a long time...

What happened Dior? Please come back or get in touch...

HappyWoman · 05/01/2009 17:00

Havent had time to read through all these - maybe i will get a chance at 4am in the morning - jegleg!!

Had a fab time and although wanted to get back i am missing the sun. The flight was nowhere near as bad as i had imagined it would be and it certainly would not put me off again.

New year for us here too - we are all trying to put the past behind us and for the first time in a long time i really feel we are working as our 'old' team.

H started his new job today - have had one very quick call and i am waiting for him to say he is on his way soon.

Has anyone heard from dior - have no idea what has happened i will try to contact her also.

TFM - glad to see your return and good luck with the mooncup - not sure i would be brave enough to try that either - and probably not allowed to as i am not able to use tampons at the moment anyway.

Fubsy · 05/01/2009 18:53

Happy New Year everyone!

Has something happened? No Dior? I only look at two threads on here now, as Im too scared of causing a ruck, so I hope it's nothing bad.

Glad most of you seem to be having a more peaceful time.

Dior · 06/01/2009 10:07

I'm still here! Lurking and waiting for the whole 'Moldie' thing to die down. If you missed it all, well done to you - that was two weeks of my life wasted!

I hope you are all well. Most of you have my email address so can talk to me there, or on FB. I will be back in a week or so but under a new name...you should be able to work out who I am though! (Clue: a furry animal).

TFM - I have been using a mooncup for nearly 2.5 years. I love mine and would NEVER go back to tampons. The thought of them makes me wince now. Give it the whole three months to get used to it though before giving up. It does takes a couple of cycles to become aware of how to use it properly. Also, practise during the non-period stage so you get used to putting it in properly.

Glad you had a good weekend Tanee.

HW/Tanee - I'm ready for that meet up now! Feeling less depressed now the NY is out of the way and the nioghts are drawing out again.

All others - hope you are well and happy. Speak soon x

TimeForMe · 06/01/2009 10:32

Morning ladies and Thank you for that Dior. I must admit I am quite excited about trying it but did have a bit of a wobble at the thought of it this morning. I will follow your advice though and give it a good go Glad you are feeling a bit brighter too.

HW welcome back! But I'm not talking to you til your tan has faded . Glad you had a good time though. As for the mooncup, I'm giving it a go due to ever increasing periods, every 8-12 days at the moment, not only is it costing me a fortune in tampax but it's becoming uncomfortable IYSWIM. I'm at that funny age you know I hope your H had a good first day in his new job.

Tanee - a wet patch at last! I am delighted for you You sound to have had a good time

Hello to everyone else

Tanee58 · 06/01/2009 12:17

Dior/HW - yes, let's lunch. I have carried over 6 days hols from last year, that need using up, so just pick your day and I shall fit in with you.

I wondered, what on earth is a Moldie? I noticed the threads but just didn't have the energy to read them - I did dabble in a few short threads before Christmas when things were quiet, but I mainly stick to our thread, where I feel amongst friends. At least we never bitch - at least, not about each other .

TimeForMe · 06/01/2009 12:53

TANEE!! Step away from the Moldie threads!! As Dior has said it was a complete waste of time. Not worth any further discussion.

Dior · 06/01/2009 12:58

Tanee - don't even bother trying to read them - seriously, you don't want to waste your next 10 years of life on it!

I think I am going to keep lurking but I have to post on here to let you all know I am still around. Will probably only post on this thread until the whole sorry shennanigans has died a death. That isn't going to happen if people keep posting about it though...

Dior · 06/01/2009 12:58

TFM - Cut the stem off. I did and it is fine...

TimeForMe · 06/01/2009 12:59

Thanks Dior, have cut it off
