8000 posts - how do we find so much to talk about

OP posts:
TimeForMe · 07/01/2009 18:50

Well, I must admit I do get a lot little bored sometimes, but that's only if I have done all the ironing, the bathrooms, the bedrooms and have got nothing to cook I do tend to get a bit too far ahead of myself sometimes. It's lovely in the summer though cos I can sit outside all day, reading. . It's my brain that gets bored mainly but, not quite enough for me to want to stress myself out again being a working housewife, juggling all of the above along with childcare!! Been there, done that and got the grey hair to prove it!

Well, ladies, tbh, even as a Mooncup Novice I haven't found it messy. Actually, I find it fascinating It really is brilliant!

Hope the news isn't too bad at WW tomorrow Dior. I've put quite a few pounds on over Christmas. I've been trying to stuff the over hang down my jeans but it won't stay there! I could do with some of those pants that start at the ankles and finish just under the boobs.

Dior · 07/01/2009 21:46

Ah, but then you would have a neck and ankles with rolls of fat around them . It has to go somewhere!

Yes, I think my brain needs something more than crafting. Still, I have an appointment with a lady who runs a shop for some cards, so I need to get making!

Lilyloo · 08/01/2009 12:17

good news about the house Baffy hope it goes through What a lovely start to the year that would be for you!

Dior glad you stuck around even be it only on here for a while!

TFM the phone sounds brill and am at you getting ahead of yourself i am only one step behind!

Would love to go to Aus but flights for 5 of us just won't happen!
Lot's of sacrifices we had to make if i was to be a sahm holidays being one of them!

to everyone else!

HappyWoman · 08/01/2009 13:13

Dior - i do know what you mean about being bored.
But now i have my part time job and although it is a bit stressed at times it is really paying off (not just finacially - which is a real help at the moment).

Love to meet up I too could train it to yours and we could go somewhere nearer you dior if you like.
Ilove going on the train on my own too - lots of people watching and all that.

Good luck with WW - i was amazed at only putting on 1.5lbs. I am back on track (i think) but i do find myself getting a little stuck for things to nibble.

TimeForMe · 08/01/2009 13:14

Don't worry Lily, I am sure you will have a lot more happy memories from being a SAHM than you will from a trip at Australia By the way, did you get compensation for being without gas at Christmas? If not, you should do. We were without gas for just a short while due to a gas main being replaced and we got £30.

Dior, I was going to get one of those all encompassing bra's, like you see in old lady catalogues, and tuck all the extra flab in there, give Jordan a run for her money until I become Cheryl Cole . How did WW go? I hope it wasn't too bad for you. Good on you for going back by the way. I never went back to SW after I gained 2lb and couldn't shift it. The consultant made me feel like a very naughty girl I wouldn't mind but she was about 4 stone overweight herself, and that is no word of a lie!

Ok, that's me all checked in. Hope everyone else is ok

Lilyloo · 08/01/2009 13:22

We got a letter saying our gas company will reimburse us for every 24 hours it's £30. Think i spent that on running two electric heaters though
Still waiting to hear from gas company no surprise there!

TimeForMe · 08/01/2009 13:29

Lily, it took them just over 3 months to pay us ours. I hope they get yours to you sooner than that.

Baffy · 08/01/2009 14:21

Lalalalala

Offer has been accepted on the house!!

The mini teabag is brewing nicely thanks Tanee I?ve finally told everyone in work today as I?ll be 14 weeks tomorrow and over the last few days I have suddenly developed a tummy! I had a bit of a tummy in the early days but I now think that must have been bloating or water retention or something. I then lost loads of weight with the dreaded morning sickness, to the point before Christmas that everyone thought I?d been dieting, and the best comment was on Christmas day from my nan ? you?re far too thin and need a good pan of stew!!

But the sickness has really eased in the last couple of days and my stomach is definitely sticking out now!

Proof that the sickness is easing ? one of the few things I?ve been able to eat has been fresh fruit. Which isn?t such a bad thing really. I just went to M&S on my lunch to get some fruit as I love it from there, and walked out with some raspberries (so far so good!) triple pack sandwich with lots of gorgeous fillings (getting worse!) and? 4 melt in the middle chocolate puddings and 2 rhubarb crumbles! And I can?t wait to get home tonight now!

It?s interesting hearing you all talk about being SAHM and getting bored. I always wished that I could stay at home when I had children, but I actually think it would drive me crazy. I think I?d definitely need a little routine for all of the household stuff, but I think I would end up becoming mrs obsessive compulsive woman over it all! Which would be great in terms of keeping on top of the housework but would definitely be a problem for my sanity! I think I?d have to get hobbies and get into reading again and then I think I?d really enjoy it.
Actually... that?s sounding quite appealing again now!!

ginnny · 08/01/2009 15:23

That's great news Baffy - a lovely new house and a lovely new baby. 2009 is going to be your year. I just know it
I was a sahm for 7 years and I loved it, spending all day with them and doing all the toddler groups and stuff but as soon as ds2 started preschool I got restless.
I heard today that I have to cut my hours down as things are tough at work so I'll only be working 9.30 to 1.00 4 days a week now. I was convinced I'd be made redundant so I'm quite relieved to still have a job. It will be great to have a few more hours free every day but I'll miss the money!!

OP posts:
Dior · 08/01/2009 16:06

Ginnny - sorry about job but good that you still have it.

TFM/HW - I gained 8 pounds in 6 weeks (so better than Claire Sweeny ). However, I had had two drinks, a bowl of cereal and was wearing jeans, so it would really have been slightly less.

Fubsy · 08/01/2009 18:06

dior - do you have a pee and take your jewellery off before you go in? (Thats what I used to do! )

ladylush · 08/01/2009 18:28

lol at the consultant at TFM's SW - must have been a bit like the one on Little Britain

Dior · 08/01/2009 18:41

Fubsy - normally I do, but I wanted a bigger loss next week, so had breakfast and wore jeans . Tips of the trade...

Lilyloo · 08/01/2009 20:52

Baffy good news on the house! I am not at all bored i find running around after these 3 harder than working tbh!

Ginny suppose at least you still have the job and hopefully they can up your hours again when things get better.
It's wful seems everyone you speak to is having job difficulties!

Dior hopefully a big loss next week then!

That's typical TFM, bet they wouldn't wait 3 months for us to pay them though

WilyWombat · 09/01/2009 12:03

Hi - hope everyone is OK - Just wanted to say Happy New Year, it feels like one minute I was going to implode with the stress of present buying and the next moment it was all over

Im with Baffy on the Mooncup, im dreadfuly squeamish my midwife gave me a video of a birth to watch before I had DC 1 as I "missed" seeing one at school as I kindly escorted a friend who felt faint outside anyway I finally managed to watch it between my fingers about a week before the baby was due LOL

Dior I dont know what happened but please dont take it personally im sure anyone who has been on here for a while has been flamed at some point. Things do tend to get a bit stressy on here sometimes - I come on for maybe a bit of a laugh or some info not to argue with complete strangers. Part of it is probably that people with very small children are tired, part that sometimes you can write something then when its posted you think "ohh I didnt mean it to sound like that" and then there are just some people who dont like you to have a different opinion to them and will have a go if you dont bow to their opinion. I had one thread where I kept going back and saying "actually I didnt mean it the way you took it" and they just went On....and on...and on - in then end you just have to throw your hands in the air and say "forget it"!!

The beauty of the F & G thread is we are all incredibly different ages/experience/interests but its supportive - I may say "well i'd do X this way" but if you disagree completely you would express that in an intelligent non confrontational way...God I can waffle LOL

Take care everyone

TimeForMe · 09/01/2009 12:53

Hi Ladies

Baffy - HOBBIES!! HOBBIES!!A new baby and a DS, a house with a garden to maintain and you think you will have time and a need for hobbies!! Dream on sweetie
That's great news re the house, I am very pleased for you.

Only 8lbs Dior, thats great. You will soon have rid of that. I'm going to sign up with Mr Motivator on the GMTV website. I need some motivation!! I'm not doing too bad but I could be doing better.

I'm pleased to hear you will still have a job Ginny. Hours are not too bad either, you will have plenty of time to be a domestic Godess too Won't tax credits top up your money? You may find you are no worse off, fingers crossed anyway.

Exactly Lily! They sent the letter out telling us we would be getting the money and it stated 'within 28 days', we had already waited two months. They spin it out as long as they can.

LL, you have hit the nail on the head with my SW consultant, that is exactly what she was like, she even had the same hairstyle!! . It was very hard to sit there being advised on weightloss by a woman who so obviously did not follow her own advice. I was a consultant for SW a few years a go and we had to be at target weight. God knows what happened to that rule!

Hi to everyone else, hope every one is having a good day

Lilyloo · 09/01/2009 12:57

I tell you mnet is going mad fgs!!

Why do these people make up random lives and live them out on here.

I have to say the one with the woman whose ds turns out to be a bear has topped it for me!!!!!

TimeForMe · 09/01/2009 13:42

I saw that too. Bless her. She is only 17 but she has fab knowledge about pushchairs. I really feel for her, I do think she needs some 'outside help' though, I'm not sure humouring on her and going along with her is the right thing to do but, I'm sure those who are doing it are doing it for the best of reasons.

TimeForMe · 09/01/2009 13:42

I wonder if she claims Child Benefit for him

Dior · 09/01/2009 15:55

Another thread??? Surely MN is only THIS thread? It is my sanctuary here you know...

ginnny · 09/01/2009 17:06

TFM - pmsl at domestic Goddess. That is so not me. I was looking forward to being able to put my feet up and watch Neighbours and Home and Away for an hour before the school run!!!!
Well done Dior - 8lbs is hardly anything. I'm sure Clare Sweeney stuffed her face and didn't just "eat what she fancied", and I actually thought she still looked good when she was bigger too.
Anyway, off to cook the tea - not Nigella style though, more like Dinner Ladies

OP posts:
TimeForMe · 09/01/2009 17:34

I've made my own beefburgers for tea Ginny! I've also made the most yummy pea and ham soup and baked a load of buns. Done all the washing and ironing and hoovered the whole house! Hows that for Domestic Godess!

I did manage to catch home and away before the school run though

ladylush · 09/01/2009 18:47

Evening to all the domestic goddesses I agree, I think Claire Sweeney did stuff herself. I was shocked at what she ate/put in her trolley. I think she is so disciplined usually that she saw it as an excuse to have a really good pig out session. That said, I ate what I wanted over xmas (and a bit more) and now my jeans are rather too snug I refuse to step on the scales. I'm sure it's more than the 81bs you've put on Dior.

A thread about a woman with a dc that's a teddy bear? Good heavens, what next?! Mind you, can immediately see some advantages

Baffy - great news re house How is Baby Baffy? Won't be long til you feel movements

Lilyloo · 09/01/2009 21:10

Tfm lol at child benefit if so we have a million soft toys

LL how things with you ??

Ginny does home and away still exist ?

Dior i tell you stay on the threads you know it's gone mad out there!!

PC if you still lurk come back

Baffy · 10/01/2009 10:53

LL I think I'm starting to get the first few flutters now. And pressure on my bladder on and off. I know the books say it's too early (14 weeks) but I'm pretty certin I'm feeling it.

Which is a massive to me as I know I didn't feel ds until after 20 weeks as I remember them asking at my scan and I hadn't felt him! Although I guess I didn't know what I was feeling for that time!

TFM if I manage to fit in 35-40 hours at work a week... then ds, a lo, a house and a garden will be nothing! I know I'll manage to do it all plus work (no choice!) so if I was at home full time I'd expect a good 35 hours a week worth of hobbies!!

Glad I've got no time to look at the rest of the site - sounds mad!

xx
