I've just had a row with DP. Its the first one we've had really and I feel so crap about it.

Its all over a holiday. Basically we're going to Orlando (me, my kids, him and his 2 kids). I have spent months organising everything and he keeps trying to challange me on everything I plan.

I've been before with my kids so I know how everything works. I booked a villa for us all (big party so was cheaper) but he wanted to stay in a nickalodeon hotel. I got him to see sense over that but that its everything else. He wants to go to disney to take his kids, I've been before and told him universal is better but he's insisting on wasting £500+ on disney tickets.

He wants to go to discovery cove, I don't. I've been before and I don't think its that great but he wants to waste another £400 on that.

The latest thing is that I want to do a trip to miami but he wants to stay i orlando for the entire two weeks.

I know its about compromise but I've been before and I know how it all is over there yet he refuses to listen to anything I say. Is this the early signs or a controller?

who gives a shit about sky+???

ihatebikerides · 01/08/2008 17:12

Are we on a parallel thread here? What's all this about Sky+? (Marvellous invention, though, in my opinion).

zippitippitoes · 01/08/2008 17:12

gloss white tho a bit in your face

Alexa808 · 01/08/2008 17:15

Clearly, my cat does!

QuintessentialShadows · 01/08/2008 17:19

You are going to need sky + when this holiday is over. With all the pouting silences at your house, I imagine.

Be honest now. You did not book this holiday for him. You booked it for him to revel at YOU and your wonderfulness. Well, he wont.

Not when you are poisoning his kids to what he always dreamt of doing with them, not when you are kicking up a fuss about him wanting to do the things he has dreamt about, which you dont want to.

A truly giving person would book the holiday AND the things her partner wanted to do.

It seems like a badly disguised, "I want to take my kids to florida, I have been before, so it is for you, but I choose what we do because really I want to go again and want it my way." If that makes sense?

And why do I reply even when I am convinced the op is trolling.

ihatebikerides · 01/08/2008 18:17

OP, are you also one of those people who sits down to watch a film you've seen before with someone who hasn't, then proceeds to tell them what's about to happen next?

ihatebikerides · 01/08/2008 18:21

Actually, have just had an awful flashback to an ex of mine who knew I was really strapped for cash at the time. He therefore whisked me away on a surprise trip away, all expenses paid.... oh, except for food, which we would pay our own way for. He then proceeded, being a bit of a foodie, to insist we ate in all these gastronomic foodie restaurants, with prices to match, so that by the end of the trip my overdraft had doubled, but I couldn't complain as I was being ungrateful for this wonderful trip he'd organised. Pratt...

lulumama · 01/08/2008 18:24

if you have enough money to go to florida whenever you want, then let this trip be about him , and oyu go again and do what you want.

wheresthehamster · 01/08/2008 18:27

I'd rather know more about the racoon

ihatebikerides · 01/08/2008 18:32

I still can't believe you've told a 6 and 8 year old that the Disney parks are crap! Have you told them Father Christmas and the tooth fairy don't exist either?

SmallShips · 01/08/2008 18:35

i do enjoy talking about the racoon, if you're interested!

SmallShips · 01/08/2008 18:36

not that i believe its a racoon, its very large!

wheresthehamster · 01/08/2008 18:37

Where is it then I can check myself

SmallShips · 01/08/2008 18:38

bear with me whilst i find a link.

SmallShips · 01/08/2008 18:43

www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,395294,00.html The rare racoon... according to an American Animal man.

SmallShips · 01/08/2008 18:44

if you can afford to go when you like, why the hell are you complaining?

wheresthehamster · 01/08/2008 18:51

Wow! that is some odd looking dog/eagle/racoon/pig.

Did you see the other photo on gawker.com? Allegedly the creature turned onto it's other side.

SmallShips · 01/08/2008 18:56

Just looked at the picture, its so odd! It looks demonic! At first they said it was a dinosaur, then a cow and now they seem to have settled on raccoon! Bloody weirdest/largest raccoon i've ever seen!!

Kally · 01/08/2008 19:39

I've been to Disney. His children are younger than yours. They WILL like Disney. Be 'flexible' and do a bit of this and a bit of that. Isn't it about being together and just having a nice time? You're turning it into a project that is all your way. Most say the same here so you have to take a look at yourself, seriously. Please don't sulk though, and wander around Disney with sick long faces and ruin it for him and his kids....Ugh.. I can just imagine it

AbbeyA · 01/08/2008 19:42

I didn't realise they were only 6 and 8!!
How can they not want to go to Disney?!

rookiemater · 01/08/2008 19:49

Tell you what why don't you "let" DP and his kids go to Disney while you and your children go to Universal.

You clearly don't like Disney and as a result apparently your children don't either

Being on a family holiday doesn't mean you have to spend every minute together. Plus if you go to Disney you will spoil their day, by going, oh that rides crap, oh wouldn't bother queueing for that one, oh the portions in this restaurant are too small. So just leave them to it and they can tell you how fab their day has been at the end.

cocolepew · 01/08/2008 20:07

In one of your posts you said that you don't care what we think. Well why did you post it AIBU then? If we all agreed with your opinion then you'd like what we think.

But NOBODY will agree with you because you're WRONG.

Well done on the sky+. You must be so proud.

ihatebikerides · 01/08/2008 20:13

Are you going to show your DP this thread?

SmallShips · 01/08/2008 20:16

troll or total bitch loon. Still don't understand the sky+.

MrsMissMs · 01/08/2008 21:39

We've decided to do disney and universal. I realise I may have been a bit unfair before. I just didn't want him to waste his money.

But we're doing both so my kids get to go to disney again and they get to see universal with us. best bit about it is that I'm not going to disney, I'm off to miami so he'll have to contend with 4 kids around the park we'll see how great disney is then.

I didn't even want sky + so I don't understand why everyone is going on about that?
