Last night had a few drinks with dhs mate and dh at home. All fine, come 12am another friend turns up.
I said I'm off to bed due to dc. Expected dh to be a hour or so no more.
Been kept awake all bloody night by the noise, miracle how dc slept through.
By then it was 6am and I heard dh trying to tell them to go he was tired and ready for bed. One of the friends was saying they needed to stay till they could get in their house till 8am.
By 7am I went down and could see dh exhausted, so I told them both to basically leave now we have dc to get up too soon.

One of the friends was annoyed with dh as the other latched onto them, they could easily of said they were going to bed and goodbye! Dh apologised but heard nothing else.

Am I in the wrong here?
And yes I am very tired and annoyed. Dh has gone to bed and I haven't managed to sleep a wink and I have a extremely busy week ahead. Angry
Just to say we in London so plenty of places open!

No sense of time when coke is involved.

OhBotherSaidPoo · 12/09/2026 09:41

Sounds chaotic. I'm amazed when people live like this.

This is the thing. We don't. We rarely drink and when we do we are usually in bed by 11/12am latest! I am really pissed off with dh, if I had any idea that was going to happen I wouldn't of allowed it!

They would’ve been turfed out around 1am.

BibbityBoppityTwo · 12/09/2026 09:47

If it was a one off and very unusual I’d make no bones about the fact I was extremely unhappy and it wasn’t to happen again, but would otherwise let it slide. Although he can give you the night off tomorrow and deal with all the children stuff so you can get an early night and catch up on sleep.

Your asshole h is asleep in bed and he apologised to these rude and selfish friends?!!!’

Shinyandnew1 · 12/09/2026 10:17

If it was keeping me awake all night, I’d have gone down at 1/2 and asked them politely to go home.

Your post is confusing though

Why wouldn’t one of them get into their own house till 8am?

Why was one annoyed with DH?

Who did the other latch onto?

Why is your DH apologising to them?

24Dogcuddler · 12/09/2026 10:23

Absolutely wouldn’t want this with DC in the house.

Partner was at work and he didn't have a key to get in so had to wait! The other was annoyed as he was tired and wanted to go to bed and the other was trying to follow him home as he couldnt go home. I dont know the whole thing is ridiculous. I literally had to kick them out!
Told dh I am not drinking anymore not even a big drinker anyway, and in future he can go to the bloody pub.

No me neither. I feel like a fucking shit parent today. Half tempted to tell dh to go to his mothers for a few days so I can calm down. Never ever had people that late in my home, can't imagine what the bloody neighbours think.

Why was your dh so weak about getting them out? Was he scared to annoy them?

TVonyable · 12/09/2026 10:33

Check surfaces for Coke, wipe surfaces down with a wet cloth, the late arrival guy probs brought it with him.

your DH should have kicked them out earlier, could no key have slept in a spare room ? Yours or another one ? Let DH sleep for a few hours then he can take over with DC while you go back to bed?

But from what you’re said, this really was a one-off thing. Your children weren’t disturbed and it’s your husband’s home as well as yours, so I think you are really over reacting for him having friends round for one Friday night.

Nopersbro · 12/09/2026 10:36

That's fucked up. If these are actual friends whom you know, I probably would have let them stay overnight if they asked and if they had nowhere else to go, but given them beds or at least sleeping bags to go to and expected them to have the decency to go to sleep or at least stop making a hullabaloo with you and children in the house trying to sleep. If they wanted to stay up drinking and making noise, they go somewhere else - husband included. And he owes me some make-up time wrangling the DC once he's sober.

Never let anyone in to party again. You made a mistake , make it never happen again. Thats my advice.

eleventybillionpillsisntenough · 12/09/2026 10:39

What the neighbours think!? Is the the 1950s?!

Were they also taking cocaine?

amiwronghere1 · 12/09/2026 10:43

Offered one the sofa to sleep on but declined and then I pretty much lost it at that point and kicked them out. Doubt they will want to visit again!

I get one couldn’t get in, so why didn’t the other go home earlier and the one without the key kip on the sofa?

I wouldn't have accepted additional guests at midnight. In fact, the existing guests should have been gone by then.

throwawayimplantchat · 12/09/2026 10:55

I’d bet decent money that the latecomer brought coke with him. Does your other half ever take coke that you know of OP?

amiwronghere1 · 12/09/2026 11:01

No he doesn't he knows that would be the end of our marriage. Can't see any signs either while I been clearing up. Think they just got very, very drunk as mixing drinks.

It’s OPs house, I would’ve kicked them out much earlier if they’d been keeping me awake all night, no I wouldn’t allow this in my own home, weird you think that unusual.
