we go away and have family holidays . But this one is giving me the ick !
We are parents of an 18 year old and 12 year old . He’s not clubber or music fan . But he’s got two mates who like to go and one is getting divorced. Aibu ?

Yes. Ibiza is great for any age. I went at 50 with friends and we had a great time.

He isn't a " lad".
He is an adult man with a partner and family responsibilities.
So why is he going off to act like a single man with his pals?

BabyCat2020z · 12/07/2026 23:17

Seems normal with quite a few people i know who are 40s/50s. I think it's about the music, not pulling.

HappiestSleeping · 12/07/2026 23:17

It wouldn't be for me (wasn't even when I was young), but whatever floats your / his boat.

GoneWithTHeWindJammers · 12/07/2026 23:18

I am 70 and seriously thinking of giving Ibiza one last go.

ShishKofte · 12/07/2026 23:19

What's your concern?
He could just as easily dance with a stranger/ go on the pull/ get horribly drunk/ do coke on a city break.

Either he's trustworthy or he isn't. The location is immaterial.

maxslice · 12/07/2026 23:26

Yes, you are being unreasonable.

istherereallytimeforallthat · 12/07/2026 23:28

No, you're not being unreasonable.

GoodkneeBadKnee · 12/07/2026 23:32

Yes you're being unreasonable.

Ibiza is a much more grown-up choice than many UK and European destinations for a lads' holiday.

Also, one of my best mates passed away, without his wife knowing he liked (loved ) hardcore techno, which made for an interesting conversation at his funeral when we put on his favourites at the wake!!

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 12/07/2026 23:33

A middle aged man going on a Lads holiday.
maybe he needs to look in the mirror and realise he is not a lad, and hasn't been for 20 years.

basiically · 12/07/2026 23:34

I went on a girls holiday to ibiza were all in our 40s.
Nothing wrong with it.
Also went to the moon party in thailand.
Both trips were alnighters we slept all day and we loved it.

Morepositivemum · 12/07/2026 23:36

Have been on a few foreign holidays with my friends in the last few years- am 46 with 4 kids. It’s a sun holiday with friends- I think you watched too much Ibiza uncovered back in the day!!!!

Tiredbean · 12/07/2026 23:38

I’m in my 40s and went to Ibiza at Easter with a group of 10 friends. It was brilliant 🤩 just because I’m ’old’ doesn’t mean I can’t party. Left husband and 3 children at home

pictoosh · 12/07/2026 23:39

What is it you're worried about specifically?

Do you fear he'll cheat?
Do you simply think it's something he shouldn't want to do?

What's the issue?

If you can you should. Took my dad for his 70th and he loved every minute of it.

Lighten up
many many people still go on holiday with friends

feellikeanalien · 13/07/2026 00:06

What are you worried about OP? Ibiza isn't just clubs and drugs. Where are they staying?

There's a lot of difference between an adults only venue in San Antonio and a lovely apartment in Portinatx.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 13/07/2026 00:06

He’s not too old for the island. No one is. But do you feel upset they’ll be chatting up women as his friend is newly single? Are they not willing to make it a mixed group
holiday and you go too?

You haven't been a "girl" since you turned 18.

Adult women calling themselves " girls" is as ridiculous as adult men calling themselves " lads" or " boys".

What is wrong with people that they are frightened to accept that they are no longer children?

Zanatdy · 13/07/2026 03:46

People of all ages enjoy going to Ibiza. Why not is what I think.!

BibbityBobbity2 · 13/07/2026 04:03

Absolutely fine. As long as you’re also allowed your own time away when you need it.

What would the issue be exactly? Do you think the fact it’s Ibiza means he’ll get up to something he shouldn’t?

moleeye · 13/07/2026 06:03

Oh good grief, he’s 45 not 90. Why the pearl clutching - if he wants to do that then fine.

Twilightstarbright · 13/07/2026 07:03

I go to Ibiza with people in their 40s and 50s, it’s a stunning place and lots to do apart from drugs and clubbing.

Frankly if I wanted a holiday to pull it’s not what I would pick, nor would I assume that’s why someone wanted to go there.

BlueFahrenheit · 13/07/2026 07:09

Ibiza. I can't think of a worse place to visit.

I do feel sorry for the locals who live there. Having to deal with a never-ending carousel of drunkard Brits.

No thanks.
