If you had to pick between having a child or having a partner?

I’m not asking you to pick between your actual child or partner, as of course everyone would (or should) pick their children.
but hypothetically, if you had to pick one or other for your life, and forgo the other, which would you choose?
I would pick having a child and forgo a relationship.

edited to add- please say if you have kids when you answer or are child free

Child

married with two children

A partner, because I’d never choose to raise children alone.

I wouldn’t want to be without my partner or children though.

Partner I think, because ultimately children would/should leave and live their own independent lives.
But I would always have a longing for children if I hadn't had them I suspect and I wouldn't know how difficult it turned out to be

Children 100%

It's tough being a single parent but I'd choose them over my ex husband any day

Because this is MN and the OP is asking if you'd pick a child over a partner. The ones who 'pick' child are obviously mums. Not 'off' in my mind at all. Simply logistics

No what is off is the implication that "mums" want their child to ultimately pick them above any partner, child of their own etc
Load of crap of course.
