Asking a tradesman out after doing job

userhelp · 24/09/2024 13:54

Had a tradesman around to do a job, got on well lots of chatting about ourselves, life's etc definitely a bit of flirting, he even made a comment about taking me out at weekend which I kind of pretend I didn't hear as was embarrassed

Would it be cringe of me to text asking for a drink? I mean I figure I haven't ever got to see again if they say no 🤷‍♀️

We're both in your early 40's and single

I have a friend who had some carpets fitted; the carpet fitter never went home. Hope it goes well OP.

Agree with this, if you're going to do it I wouldn't wait

Sounds sinister. Is he buried under the floorboards? 🤔😂

motherofkevinnotperry · 24/09/2024 20:39

Go for it. Just do it now don't start playing games of how long to wait etc.

ThisHangryPinkBalonz · 24/09/2024 20:43

I've seen threads were the tradie messages the woman and the advice has been report the creepy bastard 😂... ah double standards.

SparkyBlue · 24/09/2024 20:45

My aunt met her husband when he did a plumbing job for my grandmother and my aunt made him a cup of tea and a sandwich. They were married two years later

AbraAbraCadabra · 24/09/2024 21:13

I also think you should do it and am an advocate of not appearing too keen but I'd message tonight. Leaving it a couple of days would seem odd in this scenario, like you'd been thinking of him

JumalanTerve · 24/09/2024 21:21

Most men don't care about women appearing keen, the fewer games the better. Message him now!

I HAVE A UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

So I messaged and said "so instead of pretending my boilers broke thought I would get straight to the point and see if you fancied getting a drink sometime"

He responded and said he was glad I got in touch and would love to go out and was i free this weekend

So looks like I have myself a date!

Let's hope not as that would run it... I really didn't get those vibes off him, just a good chat about life, being single parents, teenagers dating etc

smallsilvercloud · 24/09/2024 23:22

Ah that's great news, update after the date!

Waterboatlass · 24/09/2024 23:28

Yayyy!!

WhatFlavourIsIt · 25/09/2024 00:02

Sounds promising. Just a word of warning. Don't expect all those odd jobs around the house done. My husband is Master builder. Can I get him to fix my wardrobe doors or put up my new shelves in the garage? NO!. 😁

Aquamarine1029 · 25/09/2024 00:11

I'm so excited for you!! Please update after your date!

Yellowcakestand · 25/09/2024 00:13

Amazing. Good luck.
I did this earlier this year and have been seeing him 7 months now. He is great and im glad i was brave lol

Ethylred · 24/09/2024 18:10

Do it. And, for extra filth, keep paying him.

😂

Tell him you’re gonna get a man in

😂

Ger1atricMillennial · 25/09/2024 00:46

Do it but square it in your head that there is a big possibility that he might behave this way with all the women.

If you can deal with that then you literally have nothing to lose!!

Best of luck!

That’s awesome, have a great time. And loved the way you asked him too.

Aquamarine1029 · 25/09/2024 01:11

On your first date, show up with a detailed list of all the things you need done in your home 🤣

DysonSphere · 25/09/2024 04:34

Omg this is better than a Nescafé advert series!

Brilliant! I want post drinks update! But failing that, I wish you all the best, sounds positive🥳
