Just that really. My DH and I had a very long dry spell, but with the help of a supplement (for him) we are now at it daily and we are in our 50’s. Would love this to last.

OP posts:

DH and I are early to mid 30s and don’t have sex anymore.. our dry spell has been going on a year now. I do wonder if I’m going to wake up one day in my 50s or 60s and regret all the time we spent not having sex!

Bluelightbaby · 24/01/2024 23:48

I work in health care…..STIs are common in care homes !!

IHateLegDay · 24/01/2024 23:51

What's the supplement OP?
I'm early 30s and DH is in his 40s and his sex drive goes up and down like a blood yo-yo 😂 I'd love for us to be at it like rabbits

Bagpuss2022 · 24/01/2024 23:51

Wish I could do it more I do feel bad for my DH we are only mid 40s and we are less than once a month.
Its my issue psychologically and I’m in therapy with a psychologist to work on it well that’s one of the many issues we are working on.
i would love to me closer intimately with DH I just can’t at the moment

TooOldForThisNonsense · 24/01/2024 23:52

I’m 50 so I was kinda hoping it might be round about now ;)

It's not a supplement, it's Viagra, or one of the similar things.

My DP has just been prescribed, after a few tests. I was quite enjoying not having to think about it as I've gone off it totally now. We'll see how it affects him I guess.

It's a prescription drug, not a supplement. Your GP can prescribe it.

Are there any other benefits to it for him or did he take it just to get his sex drive back?
And does he know that you've gone off sex?

ClareBlue · 25/01/2024 00:08

Definitely in their 20s. Nobody has sex after 27 apart from Charlie Chaplin and it's rumoured some rock muscian called Rod, or is that he has a rod not sure.

ClareBlue · 25/01/2024 00:17

There is no norm. It depends on your relationship, health, who you are with, life circumstances, family, housing situation, core beliefs, past experiences, trauma. Etc etc etc.
But given all that, there is definitely no sex after 27 so we are fine on saying 30s, if that helps you OP.
Anyone saying they have had sex when they are older than 27 is fantasising, obviously.

SadTulips · 25/01/2024 00:24

Why is everyone assuming OP is trying to sell this pill?! Sounds like something you can only be prescribed l 🤔

paisley256 · 25/01/2024 00:26

My nan told us my grandad put a stop to it all when she was 40 and he was 42 after a pregnancy scare. She always seemed starved of affection, it's sad really.

Isittoolatetosayhappynewyear · 25/01/2024 00:32

We're mid to late 30s with young children and have been in a relatively dry patch since having the first. Say approx once a fortnight but can feel a bit like a chore although really enjoy it at the time. We both have really full on jobs and are exhausted. Hopefully things pick up a bit when the kids are a bit older. Sad really but it's become normal.

I still remember the absolute scandal in my family when it was revealed that my then 92 year old great grandmother had been discovered sneaking off to have sex with her 80-something "gentleman friend" in the care facility she was living in.

I don't think it has an age limit so long as everything still works.

This is brilliant!! Good on them Grin

At all or just rare? How do you feel about it?

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 25/01/2024 00:34

Well someone I know recently walked in on her mum and 90 year old dad going at it.....poor sod thought he was having a heart attack and ran upstairs to investigate the noise 😬

I'm assuming you have small kids?
I'm in the same boat but I know it's because we have a toddler who's awake half the night and both have demanding jobs.
One of us will often to say to the other the mind is willing but the body is absolutely knackered!
I'm hoping this will pick up again as children get more independent and sleep through

And why not 🤣 Young people tend to think sex stops at the first sign of grey hair 🤣

HollyKnight · 25/01/2024 00:55

My friend stopped at 40 after she birthed her last child. I'm not sure about her husband.

Me, I'm going to keep going for as long as DH does. Fingers crossed that will be a long, long time yet.

Prescription drugs are marketed directly to the consumer in the states so this reads as an ad to me. "Ask your doctor about.."

Both sildenafil and tadalafil are now able to be purchased over the counter in the UK, and so can be marketed to the public.

Well I guess it beats napping in front of daytime tv or playing backgammon. Although it's probably a higher risk activity for causing heart attacks in the elderly!

I don't think there's any particular age when couples stop having sex (nor should there be) - some marriages go dry in their 30's, other's keep it up until their 80's. I'm pretty sure I know which of those two are the happier couples though.
