Just that really. My DH and I had a very long dry spell, but with the help of a supplement (for him) we are now at it daily and we are in our 50’s. Would love this to last.

Let me correct that. It’s not a supplement, it’s a MEDICATION, whether you are seeing your GP who prescribes it (as required use could well be indicative of underlying health issues, some severe, which should be treated); are in a country where it is OTC (in which case a pharmacist should be handing it over after giving a questionnaire- refer the bit about potential underlying severe health issues); or a mail order service where people can get anything without an understanding of how important medications and health assessments are.

No idea which route your DH went down, and don’t care, but it’s irresponsible to call it a supplement when it’s a medication. Throwing it out as such is inferring it’s like a vitamin/mineral, which is far from the case.

My friend used to work in a retirement home and reckons they're as horny as teenagers.

Crushed23 · 25/01/2024 06:41

I’m mid-30s and have lost all interest in it tbh. Last relationship averaged once a fortnight and the mis-matched sex drives is what killed the relationship.

Paw2024 · 25/01/2024 06:42

Not that I wanted to know but my dad is still, and he's 73

BigButtons · 25/01/2024 06:45

My partner is 61. I am 56. We have sex about once a week. Used to be three times a week but he is always so tired. I feel really really sad about and have now switched off myself. I always had a high sex drive and menopause didn’t change things.
i wish he would take something.

I work in health care…..STIs are common in care homes !!

On the basis that care homes usually house those who are incapable of functioning in their own homes, normally due to dementia and Alzheimer's, that's actually incredibly disturbing if true, as it implies some shocking abuse is occurring, unless they are pre-existing conditions where people have had the infections for years, and it only becomes apparent in extreme old age as their bodies age.

Suddha · 25/01/2024 06:48

Age 35. When we had kids and I started hating him because he didn’t pull his weight, and I was too tired to be bothered with him.

Crushed23 · 25/01/2024 06:48

As with PP, I would rather sleep, and honestly I can completely relate to the ‘undignified’ comment. It’s like I’ve matured out of it (even though I’m only in my 30s) and it just feels a bit demeaning and invasive.

43ontherocksporfavor · 25/01/2024 06:55

My DF is 84 and has been enjoying himself with various ‘girlfriends’. DM died in her 70s.

olympicsrock · 25/01/2024 06:56

not a supplement… same group of drug as viagra which is sildenafil …

harerunner · 25/01/2024 06:56

As another poster said, you can get it on the NHS and it’s for erectile dysfunction. I believe it is prescription only.

It is, but you can get it very easily using online pharmacies, so no need even to go to a GP. If a man has ED and wants to help sort it, there's no excuse not to try it! It's used by millions!

Also, it doesn't direclty increase libido, it helps with ED when a man is already horny. However, I suppose if sorting the ED increases confidence, that could indirectly improve a man's libido.

43ontherocksporfavor · 25/01/2024 06:57

@Crushed23 matured out of sex??? What a sad thought.

I still remember the absolute scandal in my family when it was revealed that my then 92 year old great grandmother had been discovered sneaking off to have sex with her 80-something "gentleman friend" in the care facility she was living in.

I don't think it has an age limit so long as everything still works.

Wow, she was fantastic!

I can see that being the case in retirement homes, where you might have a load of bored 70-somethings who are still reasonably fit and active for their age.... but not care homes, that is disturbing.

Furrt · 25/01/2024 07:00

55 for me. Just couldn’t be bothered anymore.

Ilovelurchers · 25/01/2024 07:04

My mom and dad continue having sex occasionally and he is in his 90s.

We still enjoy it in our mid-40s. Not only is it fun, to me it is a key part of the bonding process of being a couple. Totally accept that is not true for everyone tho. Horses for courses.

MrBigsCat · 25/01/2024 07:08

Question for those still regularly having sex after menopause; did menopause affect your libido at all? If so was it temporary?

Coincidentally · 25/01/2024 07:08

I have just come out of a two year relationship with someone who was in a marriage w where they stopped having sex in their early 30s when they had their second child. They stayed married for another 20 years - clearly b they must have both just had very low sex drives. We split up partly because he c only wanted sex about once a month and I would love to have it daily 😁😁

CatMadam · 25/01/2024 07:09

Newchapterbeckons · 25/01/2024 05:32

I agree, it does feel rather forced and medicated. If he stops taking medication then what? They go back to the way they were. I wouldn’t want to do this either. I hate taking chemicals and tablets. I will listen to my body and decide what is right for me.

Too many people taking a cocktail of drugs for everything in my view. we definitely live in an overly medicated society.

The fact that he sought out medication to improve his sex life clearly indicates that having a better sex drive is important to him. Sometimes peoples’ bodies need ‘chemicals and tablets’ to perform as they should. Good for you if you don’t want to take medication, but looking down on those who do is just weird imo!

Futb0l · 25/01/2024 07:09

On mnet there are always loads of women claiming they are at it daily.

Meanwhile in RL, all of my friends (late thirties - early forties) are absolutely beaten by work/kids and struggling to manage it once a month....

I do think there's a bit around when you are hitting the Big Jobs at work and if your kids are still primary age you are just stretched so thin. I try but I'm tired a lot and feel like my life doesn't have a lot of down time.

I think my Dad put a stop to their love life in his 50’s but he was a fat alcoholic. Feel so sorry for my mum and she was so pretty too!

Yes, had she been ugly then it was only right that sex stopped! 🤣🤣

IAmATraitor · 24/01/2024 23:38

DH and I are early to mid 30s and don’t have sex anymore.. our dry spell has been going on a year now. I do wonder if I’m going to wake up one day in my 50s or 60s and regret all the time we spent not having sex!

You will.

I know because I am 41 and have had the same regrets (poor sex life since 2008). It’s better now but I hate that we’ve lost those years.

ClumsyNinja · 25/01/2024 07:17

We stopped having penetrative sex when DH had chemo and his sex drive dwindled and I dried up and shrunk, so penetration is now physically impossible. I was early 50’s.

Willmafrockfit · 25/01/2024 07:20

i remember one of the questions on the post total hip replacement was about resuming sexual relations, and the junior doctor told me it was an embarrassing question, for a variety of reasons, including widowhood. i was early 20s and couldnt imagine
so now, it is none of my business
