How long had you known your DP/DH before having sex?

Inspired by another thread where a commenter suggested refusing to have sex until marriage in order to filter men who were serious about marriage and relationships.

I'd known DP for about two hours 😳 hadn't conducted myself in that way previously, but we've been together for nearly six years now!

In the past I'd waited months before beginning a sexual relationship with a partner and still got binned in the coming days/weeks and so I'm of the mind that if a man wants a woman just for sex he's usually prepared to wait it out, which is obviously horrible behaviour.

My meet cute story also had a bit more to it, which I at least find cute. Met him at a party while on holiday in another country. Picked him up by pretending to smoke so I could ask him for a light. About 4 hours later we checked into a hotel. The next morning I left for another city.

Slightly kept in touch over next couple of months but he was travelling and working in various developing countries so not much contact. One day he emails and says he will be passing through London on his way back to his home country. Can we meet up? Yes we can.

He didn't leave that night, didn't get on the plane back to his home country the next day, and we were married a few months later. That was in 2004.

We'd been friends for a couple of years first. We'd been dating around 4 months before we actually had sex. I suppose this is quite unusual but I like to take things slowly. No judgement for those who do it after 5 minutes though.

I’m single right now but with both my Ex H and my last partner it was around a month.

A few hours - have been together over 20 years.

5 weeks.

2 hours. Married 28 years.

I'd known my DH about 2 hours. I was 20, he was 23. That was a record for me, and him, he later admitted. We've been together 23 years.

It wasn't long. Been messaging a few weeks and maybe met 2/3 times. I was preparing to move house and would be living with parents whilst I renovated. He was in the middle of selling his property and would be living with family until his new house completed too. It was at the end of 2020 so lockdowns were still on the cards to be reintroduced. so I didn't want to waste loads of time "dating" only to find out when we got chance later that the sex was shite 😂.

Single by choice now, but from my early twenties onwards I always leapt into bed as quick as I could.
If the sex was good for both of us then a relationship was most likely, If it suited us both.

The thought of waiting.. (waiting for what anyway?🤔) only to discover the Sex is horrendous is terrifying 😨
As a teen I was relatively chaste though..Actually, no I wasn't 🤭

About 3 or 4 weeks. We met via friends. Instant mutual attraction. Went out with friends a couple of times again, then on dates and eventually slept over. Worth the wait.

8 years, timing was always wrong and we lived in different countries for most of that time.

6 weeks from meeting - 30+ years ago

First date, had slightly known each other a couple of months (him hanging out chatting me up at the cafe I worked at, which I was oblivious to until he actually asked me out).

Wedding night. After dating 6 months, married 29 years. Old fashioned family.

Classic third date. I wanted to try out some new partners after separating from my ex, and this one seemed fun and probably keen on and experienced in sex. He turned out to have other qualities too, but 7 years later and he is still fun and decent in bed, at 59 not a given!

4th date.

A couple of hours.
At my place.
He never left.
We married 3 months later.
That was 25 years ago.

He still owes me the £150 I loaned him to fix his car the morning after. (It was already broken down. It wasn't caused by the sex. Or involved in the sex. )

We joke that he married me so he wouldn't have to pay me back.

I'd known him for several years as a friend but had sex on our first date.

😂 well, I saw him a few days before we actually had a date…. But yes, like you… didn’t wait. Probably within 3 hrs? It was full on undeniable chemistry.

And that was 10 yrs ago.. still going strong :)

4 hours ish here too. He was my first, and only, ONS and here we are 25 years later. I don’t think Im doing it right….

Spoke on an OLD app for about 10 days, first date on a Thursday, second date the following day and then slept together on the Sunday after our third date.

Married a year now, together just over 8 years

About 24 hours, moved I about 2 weeks later. We have been together for nearly 14 years and have a child now.

Maybe a month.. We'd been dating for a couple of weeks. That was a long wait for me compared to usual!!

4 months. We were engaged 2 months later, married 18 months later abd now together 24 years. My one and only.
