Polly and her Dollies are counting down to Christmas

Hello my lovelies

Is this going to be the thread where I finally get divorced? Will my Ring of Fabulousness ever be worn? Will the Divorce Tattinger be drunk?

I bloody well hope so. It's been a very long time coming.

Here we are again. In the main headline news... I'm still not fucking divorced from Geller. I've had to sign an affidavit for the absolute application to say yes, I want to proceed, because it's taken so bloody long.

The Dollies are amazing, brilliant and pains in the bum in equal measures Grin I can't believe how much they're growing up. For Christmas they want to learn how to make me a cup of tea for my present. I'll take that. DD1 hasn't had a good couple of weeks, not helped by me having a whole load of work done in the house so things here have been a bit chaotic. DD2 has been off school poorly with D&V, poor little mite.

Geller remains an eejit who is unable to put the Dollies first. The shenanigans have been unbelievable and of true Geller quality levels. I am rising above. And doing a lot of deep breathing. My parents have now moved house and my mother is being her usual self. I've distanced myself quite a bit. I did help them out for a day but that's it.

I'm becoming addicted to exercise again and have graduated to the fast lane in the swimming pool, hurrah. I've survived several spin classes and even treated myself to a new pair of trainers. My gardening is coming on nicely (I'm very good in autumn with slash and burn, I can do destruction) and I've now got my new shed up.

Work is insanely busy and I'm on the edge of a new possibility which will, if it comes off, be life changing for me and the Dollies in terms of security. It's going to be a crazy few months but I'll give it all I've got.

I haven't heard from Westley since I threw my toys out of the pram with him wanting to still be friends and message me randomly - no. I'm too good for breadcrumbing and I've got enough friends, thank you. I'm not dating, not planning on dating and finally feel like I'm starting to move on. But it's not a priority for me right now, although I do really miss cuddles. And sex!

Perhaps most excitingly, today I am trialling a new foundation. It's supposed to be a dupe of Estee Lauder's Double Wear, which I love, but I just can't justify the cost of for everyday wear.

As ever, if you're still following me, thank you. Without MN and you all I wouldn't be where I am today.

@Mix56 I'm not doing the big traditional Christmas dinner either. None of us like turkey to begin with. So the plan is that everyone makes something and we end up with a buffet type thing. There will be pigs in blankets, yorkshires and roast potatoes, but there will also be cheese and spinach mini wellingtons, Korean style marinated chicken, interesting sprouts and much cake.

PyjamaFan · 20/12/2022 10:14

This year my DH and I have decided to say fuck it all and are going out for Christmas Dinner!

We're going to a lovely local restaurant that we can walk to so no problem with drinking too much wine!

It's so great not having to plan a Christmas dinner. We've just bought or made the extras, like Christmas cake, mince pies and some nice nibbles.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 22/12/2022 11:29

Enjoy your updates. Hope the week is going well.

Fraaahnces · 22/12/2022 16:24

I work in a complex with four (soon to be five) theatres. I was chatting away to some of the food & beverage staff the other day about their Christmas plans and one of the young ladies just went really quiet. Turned out that she is here from China and was planning on spending the day alone. Not on my watch. I have now adopted her and she is spending Christmas Day with my family and crazy doggy. Everyone’s very excited. Poor girl was so overwhelmed she burst into tears. (Honestly planning on relaxed, easy lunch. Hope she’s not disappointed!)

pointythings · 22/12/2022 16:45

Well, the great Christmas Food Shop is done. And along the way we also managed to fully cast The Muppets: Hamilton. Now to pitch it to Disney...

Mix56 · 22/12/2022 17:34

That's the Christmas spirit Fraaances ! well done you.
I would have probably done them, much to my H's chagrin.

That's so kind of you

pointythings · 23/12/2022 09:19

@comfortablylesslumpy we struggled with a few casting decisions, especially the Schuyler sisters, but I think casting Uncle Deadly as King George was a stroke of genius.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 23/12/2022 09:42

@Fraaahnces

That's super kind of you!!

maryofthevirginkind · 23/12/2022 14:05

@StuckInPollyannaMode I just want to say as a follower of your threads from the beginning of this journey bloody well done for remaining stoic and not biting when Geller continues his Dickish slightly controlling behaviour.

I hope you and the Dollies have a lovely Christmas and 2023 brings your much awaited Decree Absolute.

fancyacuppatea · 23/12/2022 15:15

@StuckInPollyannaMode Over the next couple of days, just remember one thing.
You get a much better view from the moral high ground.

Don't capitulate over anything with anyone. You (and the Dollies) come first.

Won't be long until the champagne cork pops. 🍾🤞

StuckInPollyannaMode · 23/12/2022 18:23

Hello hello my darlings

Bloody well done on the adoption! How super. And loving the sound of the Hamilton Muppets. Who gets King George? My favourite part

well done everyone for food shopping and organising and picking up children and generally being Christmas spirited even if you don’t feel it.

have I got an update for you.

My parents arrived yesterday. Mum spent last night coughing and crying. Both my parents have tested positive for Covid this morning.

Fuck my life.

What my brother and I are fuming about is that this was all totally avoidable. She’s been poorly for a week and didn’t say anything and didn’t test before coming. Her line of defence was it couldn’t POSSIBLY be Covid. Even though Joanna at church had the most HORRIBLE cough when mum was doing the flowers and then Doris, who was staying with them last week for a night, has been poorly. Don’t be RIDICULOUS.

She’s just phoned Doris to say she’s got Covid hahaha and it turns out Doris tried to get hold of her five times yesterday as they were driving down to say she and her husband Bob had just tested positive so they should check before arriving here. But of course she didn’t have her phone on and hasn’t picked the messages up. Because she doesn’t know how to pick them up and didn’t hear the phone or even see she had missed calls.

so I’ve had to rearrange EVERYTHING. the Norwegians are now coming 2 days later, we’re doing Christmas Day on Boxing Day, moved hotel bookings and pub bookings and doctors appointments and food deliveries etc etc. all because she was too selfish to test. She’s too poorly to drive home. I’ve had to go buy my father incontenance pants cos he keeps having accidents.

I’m in the bath with a gin. Happy fucking Christmas.

Oh Polly, I don't know what to say.

Your mother has really done it this time.

2023 the year of NC?

Wishing you and your girls a Merry Christmas xxx

Pashazade · 23/12/2022 18:44

Oh Polly, what a way to end the year. Just know we are all willing you on through the next few days and will provide alibi's if you feel the need to get a shovel out.
I would say it beggars belief but what you've described of your mother to date makes it seems perfectly in character.
So sorry, enjoy hiding in the bathroom and hope none of you come down with it. I think vvvvv low contact is in order next year!

Newestname002 · 23/12/2022 18:47

Aaaarrggghh!! That woman!

Your mother has really done it this time.

2023 the year of NC?

I couldn't agree with this more ^^.

Sorry this is happening - hopefully next year will be better... 🌹

ShangPie · 23/12/2022 19:16

Oh Polly, you win the wooden spoon for most inconvenient Christmas guests and the champion cup for your dignified (while quietly seething) response.

Can you quarantine them in a spare room and lay down a sheep dip of bleach offer all the sanitiser? Is the birthday oven cleaner still available to offer them as a decontaminant?!

pointythings · 23/12/2022 19:26

I think you're wonderful for taking the moral high ground and putting up with her. May I suggest she does not get invited for any kind of Christmas next year? I mean, a patio would be better and I'll help with that if it's wanted, but you may not be ready for that.

We cast Uncle Deadly as King George. I forget the rest of the casting, but Janice, Miss Piggy and Camilla were the Schuyler sisters. We also had Gonzo as Maria Reynolds.

Polly and her Dollies are counting down to Christmas
SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/12/2022 19:48

If Disney don’t do The Muppets: Hamilton, I will be beyond disappointed.

@StuckInPollyannaMode - you have the patience of a saint! I hope that you still manage to have a good Christmas. 🎄 🎄❄️❄️☃️🌟

BornBlonde · 23/12/2022 23:18

Your mother really is so self-involved!

Clutterbugsmum · 24/12/2022 08:23

I have no words, how can they both be so bloody selfish. Even if it was just a cold/flu why didn't they just rearrange the visit.

Daftapath · 24/12/2022 10:54

Bloody hell Polly!

I hope you make them isolate in their room over Christmas!

At least the gin came in handy Xmas Biscuit

Happy Christmas to you and the dollies. I hope that they at least have a great time

Grrrpredictivetex · 24/12/2022 12:45

@Polly never bloody rains but it pours. Do hope they go home sooner than later so you get to enjoy some of the festive time. So sorry this has landed at your door again. 2023 needs to change for the better. ❤️

RobertsRadio · 24/12/2022 13:32

Oh Polly I'm so sorry. You deserve a better, kinder mother, especially after everything you've been through with Mr Turdface. The moment when she phoned her friend to laugh about how funny it was she has covid would have been the moment I would have felt compelled to bash her over the head with the rolling pin, but you are obviously a better person than me.

I hope you and Dollies manage to have some sort of Christmas and that your parents bugger off home soon.

Merry bloody Christmas Polly.

blitzen · 24/12/2022 13:45

Been reading your threads a while, Polly. I honestly thought you'd be having a nice Christmas and the divorce done and dusted. I am absolutely stunned by your latest update. I could throttle your mother. Hope you all escape covid. Things will be better when they bugger off home xx
