Hello

Ok I might be crazy but is this message innocent?

It's just the term babe is used .

@Mermaidwaves

If he calls all women he knows babe I wouldn't think too much of it, some people use endearmemts a lot with friends. However, I can see why you're suss, is your gut telling you other things?
It's a message he received, not him calling her babe . My gut is telling me it's something more . I asked him to see his conversation but he refused. So now I am even more suspicious .

Also does he go to church...?

ClarkeGriffin · 09/05/2021 19:22

If he's refusing to show you more, it's because he has something to hide. That message is bad enough but not proving is fine is very bad. Sorry. Sad

pixiecircles · 09/05/2021 19:29

This is all guesswork until you actually see the messages.

Do you trust him or not - messages aside?

BigFatLiar · 09/05/2021 19:29

Not good...

He may be up to something and you should consider if you want your relationship to continue, if he's not then he should consider the relationship.

Veryverycalmnow · 09/05/2021 19:36

Did you ask who it is from? He should be able to answer that.

IJustWantSomeBees · 14/05/2021 20:31

His refusal tells you all you need to know.

UltimateBlends · 14/05/2021 21:11

Bae isn't a mistake.

Your gut instinct is telling you all you need to know here.

Tiann92 · 14/05/2021 23:04

He says because he is Nigerian that a lot of Nigerians use those terms if they want favours or are after something .

What exactly is the set up of your relationship? You say he only recently came here, were you long distance?

Oh and yes he’s definitely sending dodgy texts if he won’t show you his phone.

We have been long distance till he moved to the U.K. in January this year. Obviously the messages I have seen are not the worst, as in it's not like I love you babe . Like they could just be from a friend who calls every one babe and the other message could of just been a typo .

It's just he won't show me his messages to reassure me . So my head is all over the place

You know what, I couldn't be bothered with a relationship like that. You can't trust him. In fact you'd be crazy to trust him. He's only been here a few months and already he's causing problems.

I'd end it.

WildGeese · 14/05/2021 23:29

I don’t quite understand the message. Is the El bit the name of the sender? Do you know them? How long were you long distance? How did you meet?

HollowTalk · 14/05/2021 23:39

Just realised you're married. What are the chances he's targeted you for a visa?

BlueVelvetStars · 15/05/2021 02:07

He's loving a lot of women

GroovyPeanut · 15/05/2021 02:14

This is true!

GroovyPeanut · 15/05/2021 02:16

Nigerians do call each other Bae, it's a very common expression.

Frustratedbeyondbelief · 15/05/2021 06:28

Is his immigration status based on his marriage to his ?

indy2please · 15/05/2021 06:54

Hard to make out as my phone screen badly cracked, but is the second picture showing a contact called M JULIe? Me Julie is an Ali G expression for a girlfriend

Yes, this is what I came on to say.

Babe isn’t a worry - I call everybody babe.

Bae stands for Before Anyone Else (or something like that - my daughter told me) so is normally your partner but could be used in other contexts.

Me Julie’s dodgy tho......

As is his apparently defensive reaction, tho I guess that could be explicable if you are jumping down his throat about the texts he is getting all the time.

How do you see them? Do they come up on his Lock Screen? If he hasn’t altered that in settings, seems more likely he’s innocent?

What messaging platform is it, out of interest.

And what is your relationship like generally? Do you have other reasons not to trust him?

Sakurami · 15/05/2021 08:40

It's suspicious that he won't let you see the messages on his phone.

Jossse · 15/05/2021 08:51

I've been in relationships like this. Distrust eats away at you, the fact that you've asked yourself, many times, was enough (I know I've been there/here too)
Now you're asking others ... either way ... you don't trust him and NEVER will... it will eat away at you until everything is destroyed.
I'm so sorry to say this as you sound lovely and deserve so much more in your life. There IS someone out there that will give you the love you deserve.
I found mine and married him last September '20 it did take a while to find him but I'm so pleased I didn't settle for Mr wrong.
Good luck sister ... be strong and put yourself first ❤️

Standrewsschool · 15/05/2021 08:55

Depends on the person. If that person normally uses the word babe in everyday language, then not a problem.

I never knew that, when I saw that message that bothered me a lot as the contact isn't a ordinary name . And ofcourse the whole bar thing which his reply was that is was a typo .
