Dating thread 141 - fun and games

Koko12 · 25/10/2018 19:05

Hope not stepping in anyone’s toes but thought I’d start the new thread as old one was full and I wanted to post!

Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

So many positive stories.
I'm only at the second date stage , with the same man.
So I know anything can happen and I definitely don't want to over invest, but at the same time I'm not interested on dating anyone else.

Butterfly555 · 07/11/2018 19:11

But obviously I know he could be dating/seeing others.

TwiceMagic · 07/11/2018 19:22

Hopefully it goes well @Butterfly555.

shitwithsugaron wow.. that deserves a WANKER in bold. Good riddence.

TwiceMagic · 07/11/2018 22:29

Yes. Total wanker. You deserve so much better than that.

JeSuisPrest · 07/11/2018 22:39

@shitwithsugaron So sorry to hear that after how supportive you've been to him Flowers

Whoknows11 · 07/11/2018 22:58

@jesuispriest how's it going?

I've just had a 5th date to which I invited him to my house! All went well but I'm still not sure if we're on the same page!

Confusing times!

wishywashy6 · 08/11/2018 00:16

@shitwithsugaron oh my god what a tosser!!

Onwards and upwards, sending hugs 🤗

JeSuisPrest · 08/11/2018 06:08

@Whoknows11 I've told Mr Hipster that I'm not after a pen pal, so we either meet up or cool off. The ball is in his court now. He is gorgeous, but hard work and whilst was chatting to him I was finding it hard to look elsewhere.

MrTractor on Bumble has gone quiet - I'll give him another couple of days then I'll unmatch him. Is it proper etiquette to tell someone you are going you are going to unmatch them or just do it?

In other news, I have rekindled things with MrOld Blush. If I'm honest the reason I called it a day with him was because I was so over invested in Mr Young. I messaged him, he was fine, said he understood - it was the nature of OLD, then we spoke for an hour on the phone. I am wary about jumping into things after what happened with MrYoung, but I can't judge every man by what he did.

Eesha · 08/11/2018 06:24

@shitwithsugaron really sorry to hear this, yet again I don't know how some people can live with how they mislead others. Keep on chatting to others and you'll soon be glad he is way out of your picture.

Rebornagain · 08/11/2018 06:27

Had a second date last night which I thought went really well. On walk back to the car e get chatting and she said she wants to take thing slow like friendship but whilst saying this didnt sound very convinced by herself.

She did text back saying she enjoyed herself but nit quite shore what this means..

SortingItOut · 08/11/2018 06:59

shitwithsugar I popped in to the thread last night but then had a meeting so didn't post, I was actually coming to warn you off MrSuit, I didn't know my DH had mental health issues when we met and my god its been a struggle for our whole marriage, finally this year I told him to leave - lots of reasons but his mental health and behaviour around that has been very damaging and I put up with it for 17 years as each time I called him out on things he would threaten to kill himself.
I know that 1 in 4 has mental health issues and I am not saying no one should date someone with MH issues but just a warning to be prepared for what your life could be like - sometimes love is not enough.

Anyway, its all irrelevant as he is a Grade A WANKER - if he's played the mental health card and he doesn't suffer with it then he is a Grade A* WANKER

@shitwithsugaron

Best way to get over someone is to get under someone else!!
That's what everyone said to me after I split with the narcissistic alcoholic I spoke about yesterday.

It's absolutely true. Enjoy!

There may have been some degree of truth, Mr Suit May well have some form of MH issue, I think my ex did to a point. But I also think he abused it and used it to get whatever result from a situation he wanted and to excuse any form of shitty behaviour.
Just as with @SortingItOut, whenever I tried to break things off he threatened suicide.
The last time he did he said he was going to go throw himself under a train so I sent him a link to the train timetable. He was like the boy who cried wolf and he'd just done it way too many times.
I know it's different circumstances but I just want you to know that all happened in February and at the time my feelings for him were incredibly strong. Felt like he was 'the one' etc. Now it's November and all I do is cringe when I think back to everything I went through with him. I don't hate him, it's almost like I never knew him - I feel nothing towards him at all.
I'm with someone who it's easy with, no second guessing, no games, no stress and it's so nice.
I guess all I'm saying is, no matter how you're feeling now, it will pass, you will move on and you'll look back and be glad you got out when you did ☺️
Now go enjoy shagging dating!

wishywashy6 · 08/11/2018 07:57

@Rebornagain
Do you have a third date lined up? Have you had a kiss or anything yet?

DaffoDeffo · 08/11/2018 08:12

omg shit what an absolute wanker! That is so utterly horrific, what a prick!

I wish men (and women for that matter) could just be bloody honest! How hard can it be! Arghhhh!

DaffoDeffo · 08/11/2018 08:15

I went out last night with my friends and a few of my male (married) friends said they would be happy to accompany me to the events I have on with partners this xmas but I said no...I know their wives really well so it's not an issue for them or me but I just think it looks a bit shit on my part! I will just have to suffer these things on my own!

shit it is good to get over someone by getting out there and dating but also just be careful you don't start feeling vulnerable as the shock can come much later! normally I find once you've just finished shagging someone!

midcenturylegs · 08/11/2018 08:38

@shitwithsugaron What an absolute tosser. I'd message said girlfriend with screenshots of the messages he's sent you which are crying out for help, say you've not heard from him but that you're very worried... then block him and run away.

@DaffoDeffo @Milomonster yes I'm in a London and would love to meet you guys! @DaffoDeffo it'd be funny if we had been chatting to the same guy (although I've not had that many chats as concentrating on Mr5Kids). Will DM you my number Milo.

midcenturylegs · 08/11/2018 08:39

Dunno what happened with the bold text there!
And sorry if my suggestion was too harsh @shitwithsugaron - that's the Aussie side of me coming out!

@shitwithsugaron what do you mean by brutal?
Tinder for me was rubbish, found the app really glitchy and seemed to be the same faces rotating even when I'd swiped no on them. I got bored of it and deleted it.
I found most of my irons (and my now bf) on badoo, although everyone else seems to hate that app 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
