There's a woman started in our office 4 months ago. She is such a suck up it's unbearable. She works extra hours to 'keep on top' and hardly joins in conversation at work because she is really busy.

She does have a heavier workload than the other 2 women and myself - but boy does she know it.

When she first started we could have a bit of a laugh with her and she'd join in the banter. We take the mick out of each other. However she's started to say things like -'why are you calling me that' - (we call her pussy or flapperjack - just stuff like that).

She also pulled me up the other day - she was going on about some stuff she had to do when I told her to chill out. She said she was chilled and had she done something to offend me because I'd been off with her earlier. She HAD asked a stupid question earlier and tbh I'd been a bit obtuse when I didn't really answer her question.

I'm now getting worried that she's going to go to HR because we swear a lot in our office and I don't know if she's getting fed up with it.

How can I find out and what should I do.

I had someone who belittled me and treated me like crap and would exclaim it was banter. It wasn't banter to me. It was bullying. What I didn't know was numerous others thought the same as me and when she was confronted she was furious at being labelled a bully!

RebornSlippy · 06/08/2017 18:44

You sound like a moron. And if Pussy is the name of choice for people asking stupid questions; consider yourself renamed, Pussy.

Well don't you sound like an absolute dream to work with Catchup. Absolutely vile appalling behaviour. I really hope this poor girl reports you to HR because you sound like you deserve to be sacked. This isn't "banter". It is bullying and nasty and unprofessional. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself. Sounds like your entire office could do with a bit of HR intervention and at the absolute least, a thorough refresher course on appropriate behaviour in the workplace.

CassandraCross · 06/08/2017 18:47

I hope she does go to HR and that they point your bullying, swearing arse to the door marked 'Exit'.

The lack of self-awareness and sheer bloody minded ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me.

AnyFucker · 06/08/2017 18:47

I agree, officer

I am so not jealous of her - she's older than me, quite chubby and she ain't no oil painting.

I know you're all thinking I'm acting like a bully but we're all grown ups and if you can't take a joke then there's something wrong.

Anyway I'm going to have a think about what you've all said.

Thanks for your advice.

You really remind me of my vile ex husband.

MoonPower · 06/08/2017 18:52

What's a reverse?

CassandraCross · 06/08/2017 18:53

Oh yes Officer that well known breed of 'Saying it like it is'ers'.Hmm

chipscheeseandgravy · 06/08/2017 18:54

Some people don't have an objection with workplace banter - and that's fine with friends... I would never in a million years call a new member on the team a pussy because they ask a question.
She probably doesn't join in because you firstly sound fucking awful and secondly because she's trying to do her job without asking anything incase you start calling her a pussy.
It may take her a while to get bits done, you've been there 6 years so I would assume your fairly competent. Give the lass a break.

CassandraCross · 06/08/2017 18:54

Oh I wondered when the old 'can't take a joke' justification was going to be wheeled out.

A joke is meant to be funny - hth.

chipscheeseandgravy · 06/08/2017 18:55

Should it matter what she looks like? She may not 'be an oil painting', but I'm sure she's a hell of a lot nice than you Angry.

I don't know why you're all feeding the troll lol

OldGuard · 06/08/2017 18:56

Three options:

  1. This is a reverse and in that case, you work with a bunch of 15 year olds
  2. This is not a reverse and you are acting like a 15 year old and need to grow up
  3. This is a load of bollocks and someone doesn't have anything else to do
DonaldStott · 06/08/2017 18:58

Wow OP. I have no words. You sound fucking awful. I would hate to work with someone like you. You sound insufferable.

coldcanary · 06/08/2017 18:58

I remember when banter used to mean joking between people which stopped before it went too far, a type of gentle teasing in a group that everyone found funny and everyone could give and take in equal measure.
Now it appears to just be an excuse to be a wanker and make the victim out to be pathetic by calling it 'a bit of banter'. I bet if she gave it you back you'd be crying to your colleagues wouldn't you?
And if you called me a Pussy I'd have your arse in front of your boss quick enough to made your head spin.

Happytobefree17 · 06/08/2017 18:59

Jaysus, are you for real?!Shock

wotabastard · 06/08/2017 19:00

I'm with @OldGuard

What a pile of old bollocks Grin

Nainer123 · 06/08/2017 19:03

Whos the pussy now youre wetting yourself about getting reported to HR?! I hope she does report you, you sound like a dick.

Theresnonamesleft · 06/08/2017 19:04

Being called a pussy isn't a joke nor is it banter.
Seems like you don't know what either means.
Pussy isn't an idiot btw.

You are scared because you know you are bullying her.
You are jealous of her because she has something you lack. She's a nice, decent person who doesn't bully and has grown up from the primary school years.

Go on. Dare you. Go and call your boss and hr pussies when they pull you for this. After all, their comments to you will be idiotic and deserving.

happypoobum · 06/08/2017 19:06

This has to be a reverse? Nobody can be that much of a cunt and not realise it surely?

She has a heavier workload than you and is new but you are amazed that she has to work extra hours to accomplish this - are you thick?

You call her names and think this is banter? Are you living in 1972?

mylittlepony6 · 06/08/2017 19:06

What is a reverse?
