Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread.

Just back from date number 2 ... Argh I can't decide what to do! He's nice and everything just no spark for me. I had waves of yes I like him maybe this could go somewhere to waves of no he's just not for me... I dont know if I'm giving up too easily either but if I didn't see him again I'd be ok with it? I certainly don't want to lead him on ... Hmm any advice please?? He's said he's looking for something serious and there's no mind games etc however he told me tonight he's been online dating on and off for the last 15 years!!!

rubystiles · 05/05/2017 22:39

Oh and I think his name is Ryan Thomas (who won the last celebrity Jungle/Emmerdale actor) was sat opposite which didn't help!

Bant · 05/05/2017 22:41

ruby - if you're not feeling some kind of oomph after two dates, walk away. Don't try and force something that's not there

LanaDReye · 05/05/2017 22:45

Buckets his GF was the OW. I caught him out and a divorce on grounds of adultery is fairly clear cut. We had an original financial plan, his solicitor insisted that we complete a 'Form E' (takes ages), needed to separate a loan agreement and mortgage (took ages), all costs in solicitors fees for their 'help', even a letter or basic email costs money. Going to court can cost tens of thousands so definitely worth avoiding.

I would add it was all ultimately worth it as I am in no way linked with him. I'm freeeee Grin

RiseandGrind · 05/05/2017 22:54

Bloody hell this thread moves quickly.

Well my date with the northern man had to be cancelled due to ahem... hormones. Such bad timing and a waste of some really good sexual tension built up over text in the preceeding two weeks! Grin

Weve rescheduled, again for weekend after next.

No further contact from Midlands Man.

I had a quick look ar POF last night (35 mile radius) and god it was depressing. My age range is 40 - 49 but honestly, some of them looked really young but others looked ancient! How can they vary so wildly? Most were clutching pints sadly and a significant number were wearing sunglasses which always makes me suspect that theyre married.

I've come to the conclusion that if I dont get a date soon I'll be calling on the services of Yoni man! Grin was he called Brian???

Allthembuckets · 05/05/2017 23:01

Ruby I would also say just go no. It doesn't sound like he's a good prospect. WTF is it WITH POF and good prospect? All of mine are guys I've said "No thank you" to politely. Also, how do you know if someone's blocked you on POF?

Starting to feel I'm cursed, Mr Boxer hasn't messaged since Wed and the guy who super liked me on Tinder (who works in the same building as me) hasn't replied to my message on there.

Lana ShockGrin I didn't think adultery was accepted as a reason anymore although I haven't checked for months so my memory is spotty. I'm guessing "on discreet affairs websites and messaging other women on Kik" isn't accepted as adultery!

LanaDReye · 05/05/2017 23:02

Ruby I would leave it. At date 2 you would hope for more than "he's nice". Maybe a "he's interesting" better still "he's hot".

Allthembuckets · 05/05/2017 23:05

Forgot to add Lana yep, just want to be legally free of my ex. Do not want to end up in a coma with him battling my mum over what to do. A very unlikely situation but possible.

RiseandGrind Yoni man?
I have found similar issues! Feel like giving up.

CoverMeLadsImGoingIn · 05/05/2017 23:10

Rise wait, what? Yoni Man??? mind boggles Have you tried Bumble?

Ruby : what Bant said. He's wise 👍🏻

Lana never has John Inman sounded more welcome Grin

I'm still enjoying chatting with AR on Bumble, while OKC continues to present me with Doms, sissies and other assorted perverts Hmm

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 05/05/2017 23:19

Yoni man? Please explain...

LanaDReye · 05/05/2017 23:20

Buckets I had bank statements showing the hotels they used. Adultery, if accepted, is a clear way to divorce. Unreasonable behaviour can more easily be disputed, but messaging other women definitely counts.

I'm seeing Mr Bike tomorrow afternoon and feel very excited, date 5!

lettucesoup · 05/05/2017 23:49

Oooh I remember Yoni man vaguely...
Was he into Yoga and ever so bloody strange and very fond of his nakedness or just his body in general. I am sure someone will come along who has a better memory than me!

LanaDReye · 05/05/2017 23:54

Just searched and found this...
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/a1729276-Yoni-Vaginal-Massage

😂😂😂

OutToGetYou · 06/05/2017 00:00

Adultery is accepted, so even after you split up, if they (or you) shag someone else, it's adultery and you have grounds.

"Yoni man", I gather, was a chap (Brian) who offered his services to the MN women (I think it was just women...) for tantric sex. I think.....it's in classics but I've not read it. 'Yoni' is the name for women's genitals in yoga (no idea if it's a specific bit of them). I once had to do a wide legged thing where you bounce down from the core, and the teacher kept saying "yoni to the ground ladies" - it's hard to take it seriously really.....

Good luck for date 5 Lana - I'm sure it'll be like....riding a bike! :)

LanaDReye · 06/05/2017 00:05

Out I hope so Grin

Allthembuckets · 06/05/2017 00:54

I don't think I would be able to even keep a straight face to that!

Lana good luck for tomorrow, or even later...

Adultery has to be within 6 months of the split and, unfortunately, I was not long out of hospital at that time and being told my nearly dying had made him kinda come to his senses? At the time of the messaging, he seemed to be having a MLC but I chose to make a decision after DD's bday and a professional qualification exam I had to take. Then had the medical issue!

rubystiles · 06/05/2017 06:55

Thanks for the advice. I've slept on it and decided not to take it further. Spot on Bant I'd be forcing it and that doesn't bode well. I'll be honest with him and say I'm happy to be friends but nothing more.
Back to the drawing board then ...
Good luck to everyone on dates this weekend.

I think we should plan a northern meet up - you're more than welcome cover!

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 06/05/2017 07:47

Lana - that's priceless! "My yoni says no(ni)" - arf arf!

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 06/05/2017 08:04

Cover - I'm technically a Northerner (I'm merely displaced) but I think I've finally laid my hat: it's great living in practically the centre of the country!

Rise - that's bloody annoying. Fingers crossed for two weeks time. Thank you for the reminder of Yoni man - I was up till 4am laughing!

Last night went as usual with The Nurse - oodles of chemistry and me all flustered. I'm beginning to think I don't want to know whether or not he's still looking and enjoy this for whatever this is because I'm having way too much fun.

RunsforCake14 · 06/05/2017 08:28

Just to confuse everyone I've changed my username - to one that doesn't have bad spelling! (RunnnyMummy)
DoIdont I'm a displaced northerner as well. I do miss my home town but my life is in the south now. The Nurse sounds great.

Date number "I've lost count" with Mr Gym tonight and he has asked if it's ok to meet DD. I asked her and she said ok, just don't sit up all night talking cos I can hear you! As if we would do that Grin.

Polarbearflavour · 06/05/2017 09:21

4th date with Mr Navy Officer. Going to see him on his base and stay over, I have baked a yummy cake!

He isn't bothered about my cold sore, I've covered it with one of those patches so it's really not too bad...but no kissing Sad

OutToGetYou · 06/05/2017 09:38

In my view, the Midlands is north anyway. I live near Peterborough currently and while it's technically Midlands (or East Anglia, which never gets a mention), as far a I'm concerned, it's north! I was born and brought up in London. So anything north of the Watford Gap is north.

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 06/05/2017 10:01

😂😂😂 Out.

Good luck with Mr Navy Officer, Polar (save us some cake!)

Mr Gym sounds very promising, Runs.

The Nurse has children, as do I, they're great but I do worry they may feel threatened by me. I've only met them briefly a couple of times, their mum is very much in their life and even the youngest is old enough to understand that dad was hugging a different woman last night (little pickle popped downstairs and we didn't hear him until he spoke)

lettucesoup · 06/05/2017 10:17

I too am a misplaced Northerner.
I will never sound "local"
I do like a man with an accent; especially from up North.

This place is starting to feel like a confessional to me.
Smile

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 06/05/2017 10:24

I would disagree with the Midlands being north. I'm Manchester, so I'd say that's properly north Grin. Off to meet my friend for a picnic and hopefully seeing wildcard at some point.
