How long were you together before you got engaged?

Disclosure - I do not want my DP to propose or to be engaged yet but I'm just wondering what the average relationship length is before you get engaged? My parents were engaged 4 months after meeting each other ( which I know is unusual) and I've been with DP for 4 years and no ring is on either of our horizons right now.
How long were you with your DP before you got engaged ?

Two years ten months then married nine months later. Together 21 years now, married nearly 18.

We got engaged on our 5th anniversary, we'll have been together 6 years by the time we get married

Been married over 20 years.

My husband wanted to get engaged after six months, I thought it was too soon and told him to surprise me later. He waited another two years to ask, I thought he'd changed his mind! We've been married 9 yrs.

just over 18 months, although we secretly had the rings made a year in, after some family bereavements made us think, why wait? We're neither of us spring chickens.

12 years

No engagement.. just decided we wanted to have kids so booked registry office wedding

Now together 36 years and 24 years married.

Engaged after six months, got married the same year and have been together seven years in the summer and married for five and a half.

8 years - no proposal, we just figured we should probably book a register office at some point. Getting married in 2 months and will have been together 9 years by that point.

3 years, married 10 months later. Celebrated silver wedding anniversary last year

About a year in - and I was 6 months pregnant at that stage. But he was a longstanding friend, and we both had enough life experience at that stage to know what 'right' is. I think it depends on circumstances.

Together 5 years before we got engaged. We got a dog after 2 years and bought a house after 4, so had other signs of commitment

Together officially 3 years before proposing then married 18 months later. We had talked about marriage a lot earlier into relationship he made me wait a bit

8.5yrs here too. We've got 2 kids and own a house. Planning to finally tie the knot on our 10th anniversary next year

10 days. Married 4 months later. Been married for 23 years.

Engaged after 3 months, married 10 years later ( a month before our 10 year anniversary) and been married 2 years now

Would have arranged to get married within the year but pregnancy and renovations are delaying that

Engaged after 6 years, married after 7, expecting 1st baby 10 years after getting married wouldn't change any of it

Five years then married a year later. Married six years so 12 together.
