How long were you together before you got engaged?

Disclosure - I do not want my DP to propose or to be engaged yet but I'm just wondering what the average relationship length is before you get engaged? My parents were engaged 4 months after meeting each other ( which I know is unusual) and I've been with DP for 4 years and no ring is on either of our horizons right now.
How long were you with your DP before you got engaged ?

Wow a lot of fast movers on here! We were together 2.5 years before we got engaged, and were engaged a year before marriage. We've now been married ten years.

He proposed after 2 years, 2 months. We'll be getting married at 3.5years together :)

We had known each other as friends for a couple of years before that, and had been discussing marriage about 6 months in.

Engaged after 13 months (I was 3 months pregnant!!!) married after 25 months.

Dated for 6 years, engaged for 4 months now married 19 yrs

Engaged after 7 months of meeting him, married 5 months after that... coming up to our 6 year anniversary.

8.5 years! Had a child first.

We knew after 8 weeks, but he was away for 12 weeks so waited to officially ask me when he returned - ended up asking me 7 months from meeting, got married 11 months after that, 12 years ago now. I'd kissed a lot of frogs Wouldn't change him

Engaged 2 weeks ago - baby will be here in 8 weeks - was a total shock despite my constant -not nagging- hints over the passed few years...!

Got together in April, engaged in June, married in November a decade ago!

We got engaged after 2 years and 3 months together. Married 8 months after that. Married 12 years next month.

6.5 years and 1 DD before we got engaged, she was 3 months old and we were on our first date night out together since she was born when he proposed no plans for a wedding yet though and DD is 18mo, maybe in a year or so!

been together 5 years and been through lots - no engagement yet. Scares me (not being engaged yet).

There's no ideal. First time we were together 4.5 years but I was 18 and pregnant so it wasn't really an engagement but rather a "shit we need to get married" thing.
Second time we were together one month. We had been chatting for 2 months before we began seeing each other. We married 11 months after we met. And will have been married 10 years this august. 💕

26 years. Outing myself here.

We are both stalling on the wedding though, but at least we have fixed a date, for next year though I think I would actually like to move it back a few months.

We don't like to rush into things.

We'd been together 18 months when we got engaged, it was another 14 months until we got married. We've been together 16 years now.

5 years on the dot.

6 months. Got married 8 months after that. This year is our 5th wedding anniversary. 2 DC together, love them all to bits!

Together now 19 years, married 6. We have one total banana DS.

Nearly 8 years going out before he proposed. We met at uni and were poor students. He said he wanted us to buy a house before he proposed -- probably why it took so long. Been married 5 years this year.
