Oh don't worry, lovemusic. I've had the beard, on and off, since before they were a Thing. I'm not going to lose it for anyone else, least of all someone I haven't met yet. It takes time and cultivation

(And when I shave it I look about 3 years younger and half a stone fatter)

No info - that's one of the reasons I went off Match. With pof or okc, when you send a message, you don't know whether they've read it but at least they're able to do so if they see it, with match you just don't know if they're a member or not. It should say, to save you wasting your time messaging them, but of course that's not their business model.

I wonder how many match profiles are actually active, and paid up?

I'm not on Match so excuse me for sounding daft...but is there any point if you don't pay?

Dieu someone I messaged said he had 2 masters degrees and when I asked what in, he replied 'there in X and Y'. I didn't reply

No-one should be asking or telling anyone else what to do with their hair on any part of their body. End of.

Especially before they even bloody meet them - where do people get their ideas??

Bant "(I haven't pointed out that Jesus had a beard..)" I expect most blokes had beards then as razors weren't invented!

Personally I don't mind either way but am not keen on big bushy beards, they always look like they might have a family of starlings nesting in them and sometimes they do have crumbs in shudder.

Ex had various goatie, short beard, fuller beard and very occasionally clean shaven - but we always joked he could grow three different beards in a day as he was very hirsute and his hair grew fast. Except on his head, where it stopped bothering quite a while ago.

POF has been totally useless this weekend. You get what you pay for I suppose.....

What's the deal with a guy who has been messaging you on POF, but then a few hours after starting contact, their photo disappears?
I'd like to think it's a case of him being bored with the photo, taking it down, to replace with another later on .... but hmmmm.

I've noticed the photo thing too, Dieu. I've only ever noticed it where the person who's messaged me has been boring and unattractive - possibly they've realised their profile is a lost cause and have decided to burn it down and start again.

I've had so many messages on POF recently - most of them crap. If they're going to complain about having to send a long message, why rant and send one anyone? We're clearly not suited.

Been exchanging a few messages with Beardy McBeardface in advance of tomorrow - I'm interested again. God, I hope we get on. He's seen one representative picture of me, so I hope he does find me attractive in person. Having seen his pictures (of which there were many, so enough to guess accurately), I think he may be cute in real life. Please, please, let him be cute.

The beard delete requester has made me laugh, quite a nerve that really!!

I have one of those designer short beards that only pushes the boundaries of being called a beard. I'm sad enough that I've done it with a ruler before ha ha.

I've tried removing it and I look better with it so it stays even if someone asked me to get rid of it :)

Education, stuff like that is kinda creepy for sure, hope you're okay.

Agree that men should keep or remove beards as they see fit.

I also ignore messages from guys who sound sweet, but who don't meet my basic criteria. If we differ on religion, children and lifestyle, there's no point discussing further.

I had one who messaged me the other day insulting me. I think he was trying to banter with me based on something he picked up from my profile, but it came across as rude rather than funny.

The one who sent a string of increasingly angry messages when I didn't reply immediately during the working day...
