What kind of men use prostitutes?

Dh has an outside job which involves spending time on various roads within towns and villages.
A couple of weeks ago he was working on a street in our local town. An everyday street with semi detached homes.
After a day or so Dh and his work colleagues noticed one particular house had a lot of 'visitors'. All the visitors were well dressed men arriving in nice cars. It averaged around 4 men per hour!
At lunchtime a car pulled up (the driver had pizzas) and the door was opened, there was an older woman in the hallway and several younger looking women loitering in the hallway also.

Dh and workmates are convinced it was a brothel. Over the weeks that they were working there they would glare at the men going in and said some of them looked very embarrassed once they realised they had been noticed, one even parked in a nearby supermarket and tried to get in the back way.
I know these things go on but what got me was the thought that surely, several, if not most of these men must have (oblivious?!) partners etc.

Porn is the battleground.

SleepingTiger · 10/02/2017 23:51

It is bigger than you.

It is bigger than everybody here.

SleepingTiger · 10/02/2017 23:52

Bigger than everybody here collectively.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2017 23:53

That must be quite big then.

charlestrenet · 10/02/2017 23:53

Havesome I'm so sorry to hear about your experiences. Flowers

venusinscorpio · 10/02/2017 23:54

I thought we weren't allowed to blame porn for our failings?

SleepingTiger · 10/02/2017 23:54

And invisible. You don't know this, clearly.

SleepingTiger · 10/02/2017 23:56

Who said that Venus

ShoutOutToMyEx · 10/02/2017 23:57

That must be quite big then.

Grin
venusinscorpio · 10/02/2017 23:57

I rather think it was you. But you're just being goady, aren't you? Slow night?

charlestrenet · 10/02/2017 23:57

And Offred I'm sorry that you're unwell. Flowers I have a chronic health condition which makes working difficult at times, to the point where I've lost jobs because of it. The only reason that I'm working now is because I have a very good employer that is not discriminatory, and I know that makes me very very lucky.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2017 23:57

Sleeping Tiger, what are you on about? Is there anything that you actually want to say about porn as a problem in society?

ShoutOutToMyEx · 10/02/2017 23:58

Have thank you for sharing your experiences. I wish you all good things for the future.

SleepingTiger · 10/02/2017 23:58

No I never said that. You are goady Venus on that basis.

venusinscorpio · 10/02/2017 23:58

ODFO.

SleepingTiger · 10/02/2017 23:59

Intelligent. Hmm

venusinscorpio · 11/02/2017 00:00

Any meaningful contribution to make to this thread? No?

Havesomecake · 11/02/2017 00:01

It is awful, there is a thread on there now about a guy asking if anyone thinks he could persuade his Romanian cleaner into an arrangement for cash, where he states that maybe he could take a "surreptitious photo" of her and post it on the website, I thought that would be illegal surely?! And also the "once you go black ..." thread, racism much !!

Yes I think quite a lot of men would be appalled by it, but I can say that about a third of the punters I had were exactly like the men on there in their attitudes towards me, I felt scrutinised and unsafe to be alone with them (the law only criminalises clients seeing trafficked women at strict liability AND SEX WORKERS WHO WORK TOGETHER FOR SAFETY the second part is insane imo) , even if they did not physically force me or harm me I felt on edge the whole time with guys like that, with all of them actually , but with types like that more so. Screening works to an extent and I was strict when I could afford to be, but even when being strict a lot of bad UN's get through the radar

Atenco · 11/02/2017 00:01

Have Flowers and Offred Flowers

Offred · 11/02/2017 00:02

OK sleeping I will bite;

Male entitlement. Men.

They are two separate things. Though often connected in the minds of men, they are in fact separate things.

SleepingTiger · 11/02/2017 00:03

Any meaningful contribution to make to this thread? No?

Whatever you say.

Offred · 11/02/2017 00:06

I mean you understand don't you sleeping that male entitlement is a concept that may or may not be supported by both women and men and that men are just one half of the people that exist.

Offred · 11/02/2017 00:06

Separate things

SleepingTiger · 11/02/2017 00:08

I do not understand your syntax Offred

charlestrenet · 11/02/2017 00:12

Havesome it's terrible that you felt unsafe. I agree with you about the ludicrous criminalisation of sex workers' methods of trying to stay safe. It's wrong to criminalise sex workers at all imo but that one actually prevents them from protecting themselves.

How did you screen clients, if you don't mind me asking.
