What kind of men use prostitutes?

Dh has an outside job which involves spending time on various roads within towns and villages.
A couple of weeks ago he was working on a street in our local town. An everyday street with semi detached homes.
After a day or so Dh and his work colleagues noticed one particular house had a lot of 'visitors'. All the visitors were well dressed men arriving in nice cars. It averaged around 4 men per hour!
At lunchtime a car pulled up (the driver had pizzas) and the door was opened, there was an older woman in the hallway and several younger looking women loitering in the hallway also.

Dh and workmates are convinced it was a brothel. Over the weeks that they were working there they would glare at the men going in and said some of them looked very embarrassed once they realised they had been noticed, one even parked in a nearby supermarket and tried to get in the back way.
I know these things go on but what got me was the thought that surely, several, if not most of these men must have (oblivious?!) partners etc.

If there were no whores every woman would be a madonna.

As for women who sell sex trying to convince themselves, far less others, that they are fantastically desirable and liberated women, that is hilarious! They are objects of pity and derision, in the eyes of society.

HorridHenryrule · 10/02/2017 12:10

I think young men who uses older lady escorts its a fetish that's what I think. I think if my memory serves me well she said she had 14/15 punters visiting her.

charlestrenet · 10/02/2017 12:11

I think the answer "many men" is accurate because many men do feel the sense of entitlement to gratification through women that powers the sex industry.

It exists because we live in a misogynistic world, and the men who cause prostitution to exist by their accessing of it are both signifiers and agents of this misogyny.

HorridHenryrule · 10/02/2017 12:12

That's your opinion don't be the voice for society.

charlestrenet · 10/02/2017 12:13

Where have I "put down" prostitutes, you silly little boy?

HorridHenryrule · 10/02/2017 12:14

Do I sound like a boy you foolish person. Now you're putting me down. I rest my case.

CaraAspen · 10/02/2017 12:16

You are called Henry. Is that not a boy's name? And Horrid suggests you are an annoying little boy, frankly.

HorridHenryrule · 10/02/2017 12:18

My son likes watching Horrid Henry it's a cartoon. Have you not heard of it. I see plenty of male names on here but I don't assume they are men.

charlestrenet · 10/02/2017 12:20

Yes, it's my opinion. But not all opinions are equal. Some opinions are wrong and should be scrutinised and declared wanting. For eg up thread we had a woman who said that the concept of consent was a matter of opinion. No it fucking isn't. A person either consents freely to sexual activity - without financial inducement, coercion whether emotional or physical - or they don't. And failure to accept this basic fundamental premise is not something that should be listened to, head nodding sympathetically, but actively and vociferously challenged for the good and wellbeing of both men and women.

HorridHenryrule · 10/02/2017 12:21

So you are telling these women what to do.

venusinscorpio · 10/02/2017 12:22

We are quite happy for society to tell them they can't sell a kidney, aren't we?

I'm not telling anyone what to do. I'm saying that if consent is paid for, it isn't consent. So when a man has sex with a woman who is only having sex with him because she is paid to, then he is having sex with a woman who has not freely consented to having sex with him. There's a word for men who do that. It isn't a particularly nice word either.

Venus it don't work like that and you know it. Know one has no right to tell another woman what to do with her body. You can be disgusted and say it's wrong but it won't change anything. If it was illegal then it would be driven underground and that's where the dangers are.

Offred · 10/02/2017 12:36

Venus' point is that it should work like that.

If making it illegal (and what is being made illegal?!) makes it more dangerous then how do you explain the numerous failures of every single area in the world that has legalised prostitution to protect women and stop trafficking?

HorridHenryrule · 10/02/2017 12:36

I am not sex mad if that's what you think. I don't judge people for what they do. I would never be a good escort.

Offred · 10/02/2017 12:36

In places it has increased the risks to women and acted as a way of hiding trafficking.

charlestrenet · 10/02/2017 12:37

Know one has the right to tell another woman what to do with her body.

... apart from the guy with a crisp fifty pound note in his hand. Because that's just peachy.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 10/02/2017 12:37

Know one has no right to tell another woman what to do with her body.

But we do tell women what to do with their bodies, for better or worse. We tell all people, to some extent.

The example Venus gave about selling organs is a great comparison IMO.

HorridHenryrule · 10/02/2017 12:38

It's not a perfect system but driving it underground won't help. Isn't it better to know who the arse holes are so they can be weeded out.

Offred · 10/02/2017 12:38

The only thing legalisation seems to have achieved is making the punters feel better about themselves.

Offred · 10/02/2017 12:40

Honestly, what do you think is going on during a punt? The man turns up with the money to use to try and get the woman to do the things he wants her to do with her body....Confused
