I know these threads have come in handy for many dipping their toes for the first time into OLD. So here we are again ... another 1000 posts down:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP

Whats the age gap MrsFluff ? If you don't mind me asking. Or ball park is fine?

I'm seeing the Toyboy tonight ... Smile I am really hoping I start to like him properly soon. Nearly 7 weeks and I still don't know how I feel Confused

Mrsfluff · 06/11/2016 18:21

He was 31 on March and I'm 40 in December. He seems genuinely besotted - we went for coffee earlier and he was hugging and kissing me in the queue and we were holding hands and being soppy at the table Blush

Wingletang1 · 06/11/2016 18:23

Met mr birm for 2nd date, went for a drink as it was raining. Had a lovely time again, funny he so not chatty with texts, yet chatty when we meet. Got a peck on the cheek when I arrived and peck on the lips when we left ... So are progressing but slowly ... Still not sure how much spark there ... Certainly some, and distance is still a worry 50 miles apart. Just had message from him .... Thanks for lovely afternoon, sorry I should have kissed you properly when we said goodbye ..... Blush ... How lovely! Still need to have a date with mr mountain bike to rule him out .... I think! Confused.

Mrsfluff · 06/11/2016 18:23

Bugger hit post to soon! 7 weeks? I worry that'll be me Looby! Why do you think you don't know?

Well I'm off to his for moose burgers Grin

loobyloo1234 · 06/11/2016 18:26

That guy that posted about his older wife and him wanting to leave her because he's an a grade A twat mainly but also moaning about her being older has put the heebie jeebies up me and I'm not even in a relationship with the Toyboy ... Hmm

My age gap is 7 and a half years. Maybe we should just go with it? Only live once I guess Smile

pringlecat so I texted him saying I was a bit put out that he was putting things off and he said no... However today is one year anniversary of his wife's death.

He did say he will found out more on Wednesday about his firm's planned visits to London and said if not he would try to get up to London one evening when his ILs have his DD overnight. I'm going to leave it for now and if it's not happened this or next month then I'll move on!

The person who said after 4 dates now kiss, sorry but they're not interested!

lastnickname Mr Keen sounds nice it's always good to arrange a date ASAP so you know if you click.

pabstblueribbon I think good convo is good, means at least you can talk to each other. I sort of know what you mean though you talk so much you don't know whether you've over talked or it's more getting on via text than in real life.

loobyloo1234 · 06/11/2016 18:28

And I guess age ... is a key factor for me not getting too invested. Plus I'm just really not sure how attracted I am to him physically? I like him. But I don't ever think phwoaarrr. Is that important so early on?

Mrsfluff age gap relationships can work, my mum is with a man 10 years younger and a friend is married with 2 DC with a man 7 years younger.

Looby I suppose the question you should ask is if he wasn't in your life would you miss him? If the answer to that is no then knock it on the head. Does he give you butterflies?

Wingletang Mr Birm sounds nice and you're obviously both making the effort to meet despite distance but yes would give Mr Mountainbike a chance too.

Pisssssedofff · 06/11/2016 18:31

I don't know whether to laugh or cry ... You know the date from last week who the meth addict was chatting up at the bar ? Well she's only his beautiful Mrs this weekend on FB 😂
Never never never again, slightest hint of doubt listen to your instincts. I am genuinely speechless

SuperFlyHigh · 06/11/2016 18:31

looby have you had Mooseburgers?! Do you like kissing him?

SuperFlyHigh · 06/11/2016 18:33

Pissseddofff damn that's a shame, was he really a meth addict or only looked like one? I agree with you re gut instincts though.

loobyloo1234 · 06/11/2016 18:43

Superfly ... no not yet ... we haven't had much of an opportunity but if it's going to happen, it'll be this week. As we have a couple of nights where we're planning a sleepover maybe Blush

And the butterflies? Hmm. I think I would actually miss him if we stopped talking now. But is that just because we talk so often? I guess that's what I need to figure out now Confused

Pisssssedofff · 06/11/2016 18:45

HE wasn't I would never have even stayed a minute if he was, SHE absolutely was, showed me her pinning up marks on her legs. It is a shame, i do feel nothing but sympathy but fuck me, his poor family

Lilacpink40 · 06/11/2016 19:23

Pisss def one to avoid!

Looby I'm in same situation, no straight off, definite attraction but lots of curiosity. I like a lot of Mr professional's messages and he's keen for me to stay over so going in right direction.

pringlecat · 06/11/2016 19:39

Mr Young had to rearrange. I confess, I both saw this coming (I did think he was being ambitious with his travel plans and wouldn't be able to make it in time) and am relieved. I really want to see Mr Wildcard next as he's the iron I'm most interested in before I see someone else. I hate this whole concept of lining up dates before you've given one a proper go.

It's wet and miserable tonight and I just wanted the night in by myself with a takeaway. Result. Smile

SuperFlyHigh · 06/11/2016 20:20

Pissedddoff well sounds like you dodged a bullet there!

looby normally what it is with me we get on really well eg via whatsapp then meet and usually on my side I decide I'm not keen so I stop contact, but if I've got on really well via whatsapp I miss the texts! And that's true, what you need to figure out, would you miss the attention of the texts and meeting him or would you miss him too? I do think sometimes then that's when Mooseburgers comes in, if it's not right on that score after first or second time then I usually call it a day.

pringlecat I haven't even got any dates to line up!

Makes me laugh though, the other week was coming off the train and a man asked me if the pink highlighter on a seat was mine, I said no and laughed but he was obviously friendly, why didn't I follow that up more? Real life stuff is great but obviously I'm usually out with girlfriends so scares them off or its yoga, but I am off to yoga this week and may go for a drink after it, just to see who's about and from the class too (another man goes there).

Pisssssedofff · 06/11/2016 20:21

I'm going to make more effort in real life, I used to get chatted up at the gym, coffee shops etc I need to practice flirting more

Myusernameismyusername · 06/11/2016 20:24

Glad you all ok this weekend
Sorry about my post mooseburger drama!
I don't know if I am still on this thread really I think I am in early days relationship territory now. I do really miss him when I'm not with him and we are already planning next weekend. Is this boyfriend girlfriend? Who knows!

Evilwater · 06/11/2016 21:07

Hello all,
I have to tell someone. I've been crying again, I saw mr.no commitment. It was only for a few seconds, I took my DS to a place filled with kids and I knew he wouldn't be there. It always has loads of families.

But there he was. He just stood there, looking at me. I couldn't see his face as DS was calling to me. When I looked back, he was gone.

I keep trying to put him out of my mind. Everytime I think I'm over him, I catch a glimpse of him. It's like the butterflies have died all over again.

Myusernameismyusername · 06/11/2016 21:17

Why has it made you feel this way? Why was he there?

Evilwater · 06/11/2016 21:24

myuser I don't know. They do have a great selection of cakes, he does love his cake. Apart from that, I have no idea. On the weekend it's always filled with families, and children, dogs.

As for why I feel the way I do?
I guess I still love him. I just can't turn the love off.

Mrsfluff · 06/11/2016 21:38

I'm in from a lovely evening. Omg, the sex is soooo good and he's so lovely. It's interesting what some of you are saying, regarding if there was no contact, would you miss them or the messaging. That's the million dollar question, isn't it. I think I would miss him send I do get excited about seeing him and I definitely feel comfortable around him naked!

Mrsfluff · 06/11/2016 21:40

Evil, can I be blunt? Well I'm going to be, sorry! You say you love him, but what is it you love? To be honest he doesn't sound that great and I don't think he's treated you that we'll and yet you can't let go - why? I think you deserve so much more x

Myusernameismyusername · 06/11/2016 21:45

I agree. I think you feel sad but it's like a grief not a love. I've felt that way about someone who broke my heart and I don't know when it faded but it did. It's worse knowing he could pop up from somewhere

Glad you having good sex, I don't feel I see Mr Shy enough with sex involved to get what I want from him (foreplay!!!) but plan on training him up quite soon.
I think you can tell if you miss the person or the text because when I miss him I wish he was sitting next to me, even when he is texting me

Mrsfluff · 06/11/2016 21:53

Hmm, I think I do miss him then! When I get into bed, I wish he was there to cuddle, even though we'll still be messaging. I sent him a photo of my bed yesterday and told him it felt empty.......he's already talking about his desire of the bed Blush
