Trying to find our soul-mate. It's dating thread 108

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP

That is sooo lame!

He doesn't sound like a goer. At all...

RooDaisy · 23/09/2016 15:45

I know!! I've not replied and I've deleted him.

UpYerGansey · 23/09/2016 16:19

Much to my amazement, (and delight) my Mr Unsuitable messaged me back...
We are meeting tonight.
I have major butterflies...
The object of the game is not to make a pillock of myself, and to not get swoon-y about him.
He may just be meeting me because he is lovely and very polite and I'd gone to the bother of sending him a card. However I'm really hoping that noone is that polite....

loobyloo1234 · 23/09/2016 16:22

Oh Roo that is a no no then... you were right and I was very wrong

Flaky people are the worst. If you plan a date, stick to it, don't backtrack ... why bother sorting one in the first place Hmm

RooDaisy · 23/09/2016 16:29

Exactly looby
If he didn't want to go why rearrange for today? And in what world is it okay to make plans and then just ignore them.

Ah well, I'm talking to another guy. We have spoken before, I think we swapped numbers but didn't arrange a date so hopefully 2nd time lucky

Hotwaterbottle1 · 23/09/2016 16:42

Can I have advice. Separated from H but living in same house, joined a well in honesty hook up site & started chatting to someone, hit it off, met for drink and a cuppa or two and there is a huge spark, both ways. The timing sucks though. He is also separated.

Hueandcry · 23/09/2016 18:14

Roo that sucks, why re-arrange if he knew he had no money & why not have the guts to let you know. I despair! Wondering what you all think is age-appropriate for a 49 year old? I honestly don't feel it & am told I don't look it but all the guys my age just seem so old - the only one I fancy is 43 - too young?

Topknob · 23/09/2016 18:34

I don't think I am going out tonight after all.

I msg asking what time was good for him? Over an hour later still no answer.

Destinysdaughter · 23/09/2016 18:48

Oh God it's all so fraught isn't it? And it's supposed to be fun!

Anyhow I'm meeting up with an ex tonight ( wrote about him on previous thread ). I shouldn't but he's been asking me to give him another chance and eventually I capitulated. He's a lovely guy, handsome, intelligent funny and good fun but has a few issues...

Not sure how I feel about him now but will be interested to find out!

Saw the Bridget Jones film last night. Was funny but sadly real life isn't like that! Bloody rom coms have got a lot to answer for IMO...

LondonPainter · 23/09/2016 18:52

Another jaded dater here! Have met up with several guys from different sites but haven't even had any moose burgers. I've had three dates with a few guys as they seemed nice but never felt any physical attraction.

Having said that, I did fancy one guy but the sleazy messages started after date 1 - at least his true colours came out early.

I'm in my 40s but feeling much older than I did a few months ago when I started this! Am not quite ready to give up though... 💪🏻

PrizeyPrize · 23/09/2016 19:04

Evening all.

Good luck UpYer

Hue half your age and add 7 (if he's fit, there is room for manoeuvre) 6 years is nothing at all.....go for it!

Hot why does the timing suck?
Cock welcome nice to have another male on board, (and its good to get male perspective when the men perplex us)

Roo wants paying for what???
Top and Roo pour yourself a drink and stay in, don't let them get to you.

So I joined POF today, WTAF? its mayhem! Don't know if its because I'm fresh meat or what but its like a cattle market, and the men are so aggressive, if you don't reply within minutes they get agitated. Think I'll come off soon tbh, but its strangely entertaining at the same time.

So in Prizey news. Today I was proposed to by an African prince. The proposal came within 2 messages, it was a rather blunt proposal "I will make you my wife' . He said he'd been waiting all his life for me and he was so happy I was finally here and that I was now his, that he loved me and wanted to make me his queen, that he would obey me, give me hot sex 360 (sic) (I think he meant 27/7) and look after my (sic) 'warfare', until the day he died.

No word of a lie, straight up he said all these things. So (of course) I chatted to him for a while longer before I blocked him, ooops! Grin

Hotwaterbottle1 · 23/09/2016 19:12

Because I'm still living with my ex and he is being really difficult. I can't tell him. He will say I'm having an affair even though we are not together.

Topknob · 23/09/2016 19:19

prizey

I am not upset or anything.

Have Wine
Everything's good !

Just out of interest, what was the Prince's name?
Grin

PrizeyPrize · 23/09/2016 19:24

Top glad to hear you are not upset, its bloody frustrating though!
Oh damn Top I've deleted him now and can't remember his name....did you want to find him and take my place as his queen? Grin
Hot you are a free to go out with whomever you like, he has no right to know, you are not together anymore. But if you feel uncomfortable with it and feel there may be room for reconciliation, then that is different.

Hueandcry · 23/09/2016 19:27

Oh no topknob not on your birthday ffs! Who do these idiots think they are? That article makes very depressing reading Wine everyone have a good night

RooDaisy · 23/09/2016 19:43

prizey I'm guessing he was on about work but who knows. I indulged in wine last night and am gonna have beer tonight.
Screw him. His loss.

I agree with a pp that old has made it too easy and people forget their manners.

PoF is a nightmare, I'm totally off that now. What is the general consensus re replying when you're not interested?

I don't reply and if anyone messages me 3X I block them. The block button is defo a favourite of mine. I'm a bitch Grin

PrizeyPrize · 23/09/2016 19:55

Oh I see Roo oh well he sounds like a rude knob, screw him (so to speak)
Yeah think I'm gonna swerve POF, its like a twilight zone or something. Very strange, I'm not liking it one bit.
Yes OLD has definitely caused an apocalypse in romance, so true. People don't try to woo or impress anymore because they just move on to the next one who doesn't require it, just too much choice. So sad. There has to be a backlash at some point.

I'm going to stop messaging people, I'm being polite atm.....but I'll do a Roo now and stop replying, then block if necessary. High five bitch! Grin

OP posts:
Hotwaterbottle1 · 23/09/2016 20:00

Thank you. No chance of reconciliation in the slightest & I've made that more than clear.

RooDaisy · 23/09/2016 20:02

prizey high five right back at ya.

What other sites have you been on?
I find Okcupid a little better.

PrizeyPrize · 23/09/2016 20:16

Then go hot! Don't tell him yet if it will cause agro, but just go and enjoy yourself.
Roo - well so far, Bumble, Tinder, OK Cupid is my trio of choice, they are all quite good. PoF will be deleted soon, I'm sure of it. Although I'm chatting with someone who has potential at the moment Grin

Texfactor · 23/09/2016 20:23

Hi all
Hey Prizey your African prince proposal made me laugh!
Oh god PLEASE someone slap me around the face with a wet fish. I'm on ok cupid & in 4 weeks no connections apart from Owl-guy & we send funny messages & he has me in stitches. Prob message 5 times a day at least & haven't met up yet-both really busy & have kid each) & I stupidly messaged him a bit flirty yesterday pm & suddenly nothing! And I keep getting these dull messages from others & wishing it was Owl-guy - how pathetic! I miss him and I don't fucking know him! Somebody be brutal with me!!! ?? Confused

PrizeyPrize · 23/09/2016 20:33

Tex its weird when you build up a connection with someone you've never met, but it happens, I know how it feels, but honestly it will pass quickly and there'll be another one before too long and you'll have forgotten about Owl. Wonder why he went quiet? Maybe there's an explanation and he'll come back before too long anyway.

OP posts:
Texfactor · 23/09/2016 20:45

Thanks Prizey
It's annoying that we haven't met up yet. He's so funny & we have a very similar sense of humour & are both brutally honest it seems.... But who knows?
I just got 32 messages in a row from one guy - 32!!!! Then he got arsey & sent a snippy message saying we would never get on ... Only been messaging him since 2pm! Confused

Texfactor · 23/09/2016 20:47

Oh god I miss owl guy !!

RooDaisy · 23/09/2016 21:00

Tex
Block, block, block Smile
