I'm in my mid-40s and get hit on by men 20+ years older than I am often enough. No idea why. There's no way. These men are delusional for the most part, the very rich excepted.

Well it makes sense from a biological sense, as women I their 20's are at their most fertile. But whether a balding fat middle aged man would be able to pull a 20 year old and get her pregnant is another matter entirely.

Becaue they're pretty and do not have enough experience to know when to LTB.

Because it's as young as they can go with it still being socially acceptable.

Older women accept less bullshit and aren't status symbols.

• good bodies to look at, in line with what society says is beautiful (and I include myself in that, which my 41 year old grey hair that looks as warm brown as it did when I was 25 thanks to intervention)

• presumably some biological urge for physically fit reproductive vehicles that are both fertile and have some life down left in which to care for the offspring

• less fundamental and not appealing to all men - but, you get a position of seniority - financial, experience, etc if you are an older man

• society doesn't (mostly) condemn it. You might get a cynical eyebrow or an outright laugh at a 60 year old with a 25 year old - you wouldn't get outright disgust though

• men feeling like they have achieved more than other men, won a competition if they have attracted young attractive partners...

I'm sure you come up with plenty of other reasons.

Expat, I have posted and lurked on forums that are very young male dominated and if I had a nickel for every thread that revolved around how much easier it is to ''pump and dump'' single mothers and middle aged women... I do know many of them being very fond of the saying : ''women are like crap : the older they are, the easier they are to pick up''.

I think that films have a lot to answer for too. They often have a much older hero with a young heroine. Men see this and think it's normal and to be expected the thick twats

Isn't simply because we're creatures and creatures are attracted to those they can procreate with? Simple biological fact is that women in their 20s are more fertile than women in their 30s, 40s or 50s.

I second what expat said. Im 43 I tend to get hit on by men from any age over 25 but a lot of them over the years have been between 60 and 75!!!

lol to the idea of young men thinking they are "pumping and dumping" the older women. maybe they are being used for their younger fitter bodies and stronger erections. the thing is though, I despise men who say they want a substantially younger partner- I agree with all the reasons PP have outlined but I find it hard to understand that the men themselves don't see how delusional they are- I am in my 50s and if a man of my acquaintance and a similar age tried to find a partner in their 20s...well they would not be spending any time round me (or my daughters)

Tough as it is to face, its biology as others have said we are all more pre-programmed than we like to think to procreate healthy offspring and that was the original reason for sex believe it or not!? ( I talk as an older woman but also someone who lives in planet reality).

The positives are that I am more likely to find a partner who I have things in common with rather than just looks. When I was younger I thought lots of men (old and young) actually liked me and fancied me, how silly I was, it was just lust not love!

I doubt this is anything new or having to do with movies, older men with power in all cultures have have always tried to ''hog'' young women (whether they were rulers of enormous empires like Genghis Khan's or tiny villages in the Amazon jungle). Muhammad, for example, had dozens of wives and sex slaves, the youngest one being 9 (Aisha) when he started having sex with her.

No it is not new, but the culture and media of a society will influence men's tastes and beliefs about relationships with women.

There are a lot of people around at the moment with default usernames and it'll make things nicer for everyone.

It is easier for both older men and older women to procreate with younger partners (women not yet through menopause obviously) so perhaps there is some biological reason behind it.
I've noticed since my late 30's not only increased sex drive but also increased reaction to/lusting after (!) younger men.

The other thing is that I find men (not all obviously) more inclined to think in a me, me, me - what do I want way than women hence some of them don't do the "but would a younger person want/be comfortable sexually or in a relationship with me" thinking that a woman would. They seem more inclined to objectify the opposite sex.

Anyway - what they want and what they get are 2 v different things (unless they are wealthy of course).
