  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP

Thanks curly. If he's self employed daytimes will suit him well, although he shouldn't have assumed you were free. Good to go for coffee/light lunch first imo, then you know if an evening date is worth investing in.

prizey Good luck! Look forward to update. Hope it's fun.

curly OLD has made me suspicious too! I think meeting in the day is fine though and I'd prefer it for a first meet as I don't have to pay for a sitter. I'm in London and so many people seem to work flexibly and be around in the day- my mid morning yoga class is full and not just SAHMs but lots of hot 20 something men! I've been on dates with 2 guys who did freelance work and so could meet in the day and another who was very open about taking voluntary redundancy. Have you chatted about his work? I'd say go on the date but keep hold of your suspicions and see what comes up in conversation. If you go for a second date and he blatantly refuses an evening, maybe that would be the time to get concerned

Clawdeen · 12/09/2016 09:47

prizey has beaten me to it!

Destinysdaughter · 12/09/2016 10:54

It's good to keep your wits about you and it could be dodgy but I agree, self employed pp often seem to want to meet during the day. Good luck!

Curlylox · 12/09/2016 13:06

Thanks Prizey Clawdeen and Destinysdaughter. Looking forward to hearing about your lunchdate Prizey.
I don't know your ages, I'm 49 and I get quite a few messages from 20 somethings....flattering and entertaining but that's where it has started and stopped..messages. Erm have any of you indulged and taken it further?

PrizeyPrize · 12/09/2016 14:44

So.....youngchef is an absolute cutie! Lots in common, despite the 14 year age gap, chatted for ages (we work in similar field), very interesting guy, and well mannered, well spoken and mature. He was keen to put another date in the diary and I said I'll have to check as next weekend is busy for me, but I will go on a second date Wink. I said at the end I don't think the age gap has caused any problems and he said 'not at all, and you look absolutely amazing, you don't look your age at all' Bit awkward at goodbye as I think he wanted a snog, but I said I'm not kissing you on our first date and gave him a peck. Big thumbs up for youngchef Grin

My guy made it very clear he wanted to see me again. I am so happy about the no games thing. Not clingy. It's such a breath of fresh air after my terrible dating history. This time I will have to try snog him and see if I like it Grin

Myusernameismyusername · 12/09/2016 19:01

I never post photos of myself undressed and totally avoid leering. I think that's why I now end up with super nice and polite who won't make a move on me haha.
I just don't feel confident with all that anymore.

PrizeyPrize · 12/09/2016 19:13

Fabulous news user! Yay to no game playing and successful dates.

Thanks Curly & waving Grin
Even though I do fancy him I can't quite imagine myself naked with him yet, but I don't get that sexually confident player vibe, or come to bed eyes from him. Yet still some lovely genuine compliments. Which is a good thing isn't it? Or should I be wanting to rip his clothes off Confused

Glad you are feeling better and more upbeat waving, sounds like you are doing great. Glad to see you are watching out for the red flags with Chin. Get out if you feel uncomfortable. Good luck tomorrow.

Ooh lots of positive stories for a change! Younger men can be good fun.

My ex is wanting to come over but also told me it's his birthday next Fri and he is going out for a posh meal near Oxford. And of course didn't invite me! Think all he wants is the odd booty call when he's free...🙁

PrizeyPrize · 12/09/2016 19:16

Oh Destiny that's a bit lame, why is he telling you about the posh meal and not inviting you? How do you feel about that?

OP posts:
Destinysdaughter · 12/09/2016 19:45

Well I suggested we met next Fri and he said it was his bday so was going out for this meal and wasn't free to meet. I haven't seen him for over a year so it wd be a bit weird to go, but this was also what it was like seeing him before as I felt v excluded from his real life. He never introduced me to his friends or his kids. It was just sex really.

PrizeyPrize · 12/09/2016 19:48

So will you have him come over?

OP posts:
Curlylox · 12/09/2016 19:53

It must be the weather ladies, I've had a flurry of interest in the last 24 hours just when I had given up all hope. Spoke to Mr Local-ish, all suspicions have now dissipated ......he seems nice and keen to meet asap as I said I could do Friday.
I have so many questions for you all but won't bombard you, just want to know if it's just me being picky about certain things or should I just go with the flow as life is too short.

Curlylox · 12/09/2016 19:55

As they say the choice is yours destiny......what do you think you'll do???

Destinysdaughter · 12/09/2016 19:55

Oh God really undecided. He is v attractive, intelligent, funny and good fun and we had a good time together but it's not really what I want. Also my new job is making me feel more confident ( especially as it's a feminist organisation ) and less willing to accept crumbs. I haven't replied to his last message yet.

I'm so good at giving out the advice to others but so bad at applying it to myself!

Destinysdaughter · 12/09/2016 19:57

This is why you need 3 men! Each one to fulfill different needs...😀😀😀

destiny go with your gut, do you think you could do it without getting emotionally invested again? And 3 men sounds like a fab idea. Hope you still have 18-years-younger's number Grin
waving go with eyes wide open. He would be unlikely to tell you that he was in it just for sex, even if he was. Remember the rule it's all BS till it happens.

Ahhh please wise masters of the dating thread please help me

Joined pof Thursday, had two coffee pre dates over the weekend. One I didn't like one I did. I really liked him and started imagining a future I'm an idiot I know but he just seemed so perfect and like an idiot I text first in the evening. He responded, asked me more questions ect didn't cut me off I thought everything was fine but when I said night I also said text me tomorrow and he hasn't. He obviously doesn't like me as much as I like him and I'm really sad about it.

He seemed lovely, he added me on fb, rang me before our pre date and chatted for hours, I dropped him home so I know where he lives and he says he doesn't want to multiple date he just wants to get to know one person at a time. However while he was texting me yesterday he was also online on pof.

I have loads of interest, even triple texts from other men before I reply but this one I like. (just going to stamp my feet)

If he liked me he would of text today right?

I know you have your head screwed on waving. I however could kick myself at the amount of times I've believed them, I honestly can't get over how convincing these players can be.

On a side note I matched with this guy yesterday who was 18 km away yet he said it was a location error and he was actually in Iraq (he then slipped up and said Nigeria and then said Iraq again after I reminded him of his original location) anyway Nigeria or Iraq I'm thinking that's a hell of a location error and say as much, he says I know but I think we've been matched for a reason. Hmm He goes on to say that he's US military on an undercover mission and needs to be off the site asap and can we swap to Kik messenger to continue conversation. Erm....delete & block. The length some men will go to to get nudes is shocking. Wits about you!
