  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP

Hi time I haven't worked that out either but think you get very basic access for free.

After meeting Mr Walker and getting on so well I stopped writing to others on POF. Now I keep thinking about another man, who seemed very nice. I don't think I'd be thinking about him if I didn't have a weird date with Mr Walker. Problem is that I've seen snippets of sarcasm in him before but last date he said several things, which were really not funny in any way. (Red flag most about his ex too).

I've also started to think that if I'm single at work there may be options for RL romance (lots of new people to join soon). I'm really getting cold feet now!

waving I wouldn't be put off if someone returned from hols and then picked things back up. Mr holiday may be thinking of you and you won't know until he's back. Absence and the heart...!

Lilacpink40 · 31/08/2016 19:02

Time, I'd go on the date. You may fancy him. It's not always possible to say through photos. I normally fancy men with hair, but with the right face and character I would fancy a bald man.

Gosh so much activity! Unless a guy is really good looking it's not a great way to know if you'll really fancy them in RL I've found. Pp often are much better looking in the flesh especially if they have a nice voice are confident and smiley. And they smell good!

MrPosh just texted me from Italy to say he's been picked up from the airport in a chauffeur driven black Mercedes! He's working as a consultant for a luxury brand out there. I jokingly told him to make sure he got some of their perfume as it's what I wear!

Meanwhile I'm at home alone eating last night's takeaway...😀

bouquetdiva · 31/08/2016 19:38

waving I m on GSM and not having much luck either! I don't see anything wrong in messaging first. Please let us know how you get on

petal68 · 31/08/2016 20:13

Recycled I see what you are saying with the subtle way of going about things - he is unlikely to turn round and agree I need to lose more weight is he lol. I may just mention his facebook and see what he says!

lilac I think you should listen to your gut reaction here - I have a sarcastic sense of humour but wouldnt use it to be nasty to someone so some red flags there I think.

On my own with a glass of wine tonight - nice to chill - feels like I've been going on or thinking about going on dates for ages!

Outnumbrd · 31/08/2016 20:26

Destiny's Mr 3 Orgasms in 90 minutes, sent me the link to his website "just in case" Grin I asked him if he's touting for business or after a relationship! He replied no sex just looking for friendship!! So I said what if I want the orgasms, will I have to pay the 90€!! He replied if I want a massage the introductory rate is €50, I am paying for the massage not the orgasms although that is what it will result in! He said he would like to meet for coffee! Erm so that will be no then as I don't want to be fleeced of 50€ or €90Hmm

Destinysdaughter · 31/08/2016 21:05

Outnumbd noooo, you have to go meet him for the lols just so you can report back to us what he was like!

Pleeeez!!!😀😱😈

Clawdeen · 31/08/2016 21:49

outnumbrd I agree with destiny!! We should have a whip round for you!

Well I met mrkent at lunchtime yesterday. He was running late so I had a drink whilst I was waiting and then another when he arrived. I hadn't eaten so was fairly tipsy which in hindsight wasn't great as I don't know how much was natural attraction and how much was booze induced! He reminded me of Russell Brand in terms of conversation/swearing/accent/chattiness/ confidence. We only had an hour and I didn't really get a word in but it was amusing. Anyway I jumped up to leave ( had to pick up DC) and went to give him a kiss goodbye and he went in for a full on snog with wandering hands! I was quite taken aback and being slightly drunk ( and horny) went a long with it😊😊 felt very embarrassed when I sobered up particularly when he texted me to say the bar man said 'Blimey how long have you known her' to which he replied 'about an hour!'. Oh the shame!! He's been messaging LOADS since- over 40 messages yesterday. It's nice to have the attention and the compliments but it is making me a bit wary. He did say he had struggled with commitment in the past and I get the impression he's been with an awful lot of women. So I have no idea where this is going but I will proceed with caution!

Outnumbrd · 31/08/2016 22:14

Lilac I agree he doesn't sound nice! Alarm bells now, imagine what they will be like in a few years time! If he can make you feel bad or hurt now then when he's more comfortable with you he will be worse!
Claw I am going to try and have the first date with no alcohol from now on as I'm always attracted to them, end up kissing then the next day or the next meet I'm thinking oh it was the alcohol talking :(

Outnumbrd · 31/08/2016 22:16

Oh and haha! I'm not meeting Mr 3 orgasms! Grin

Outnumbrd aw c'mon, take one for the team...😀😀😀!

Clawdeen · 31/08/2016 22:26

waving you're right, it does make it more fun. I was certainly rather flustered when I picked the kids up! However I'm wondering whether I should adopt your approach outnumbrd and just have coffee. I'm a complete lightweight when it comes to alcohol and looking back in general, I do tend to snog randoms after a couple of drinks! It also makes it difficult to know whether there's a real connection.

Clawdeen · 31/08/2016 22:28

Yeah outnumbrd, I'm totally with destiny on this one! 3 orgasms in 90 minutes,; can't think why you're holding back!!

SicknSpan · 01/09/2016 01:45

Just back from my date with mrwoodsman. A drink, dinner then a walk. An actual proper date.

He was lovely. Fun and funny and a great kisser. We've arranged another date for Sunday involving wine and nakedness Grin

Not sure it will result in mooseburgers as although there is definitely a lot of chemistry I've got previous for jumping into bed too soon and regretting it later when my heart gets squished if they go cold straight away. And he's really nice so for the first time in my life I think I might want to take it a bit slower.

Although it depends on which part of my body is making the decisions come Sunday ;)

Destinysdaughter · 01/09/2016 04:42

If you want to avoid temptation why not do something like go see a film, exhibition etc?

although you do need to make sure he doesn't have a micro penis 😀

Clawdeen · 01/09/2016 05:09

sicknspan that sounds a brilliant date! And great to have another one arranged. Wine, nakedness and chemistry- are you really going to be able to take things slower though as you want? ( sorry probably projecting my own lack of control once I've had a couple of drinks!! Wine and nakedness alone would probably progress things for me unless the guy was totally repellant!!). Good sex can definitely make me more into a guy I was previously indifferent about and then, as you say, liable to have my heart squished. However, he does sound lovely!

waving I'm certain you're lovely! I have found GSM a bit slow. V few messages from men around my age. A few weeks back I had a mad moment of liking a whole load ( wasn't brave enough to message). I can see they viewed me and. . Nothing! I'm telling myself it's that they're put off as my kids are here all the time as clearly I'm fabulous! However, it did knock my self esteem to think I'm only attractive to pensioners!

minop · 01/09/2016 08:21

Sick just go with it and do what feels right at the time. If he's a dick he'll show himself soon wether you have the burgers or not and I'm of the camp I'd rather know on a full stomach Wink

Well shouting next worked. I had a date last night with a guy I'm calling The Hunk. He is that hot I thought I was been catfished but he really is a 6"2 wall of muscle. To my shock he is a very nice man too. I thought he was going to cocky and a bit arrogant just braised on how he looks but he was a gent and sweet and caring. He doesn't kiss like a gent though, wow. My stomach flips just remembering! We have a date booked in for Friday and I'm going to be eating burgers. If it all goes tits up so be it, life goes on! Xx

NoBloodyMore · 01/09/2016 09:03

Can I join you ladies to try and help me decipher the world of OLD?

I split with exh in Feb, immediately got into a relationship with MrRaf who pissed me about for 5 months before I finally ended things a few weeks ago. I'm feeling quite confident at the minute and like I know what I want out of a relationship.

I've joined POF and tinder, had lots of interest/messages/matches and had my first 2 phone conversations last night, both seem OK and both have whatsapped already today.

Mrlocal is ok, a bit older than me but I'm just not sure if I fancy him, I suppose it's too early to tell, I'm meeting him Sunday.

mrfarmer was fab on the phone, spoke for nearly 2 hours and was lovely only downside is he's quite overweight which you couldn't tell from his tinder, thoughts?

I've been reading through all your replies and figure it will be easier to keep up with you all going forward than trying to remember historical stuff!

Hi everyone,
Lilac- I wouldn't bank on Mr sarcadtic, message more irons instead.

Nobloodymore- I wouldn't find your iron attractive I'm afraid. You could message more men and prioritise them over this one.

It is difficult to tell from a profile it you will get on.
I think date them and see how you feel. If it goes well arrange another date.
I do agree about the no alcohol being a better tester.
I got drunk with Mr straight laced on Sunday and he remembered everything I'd said, a lot of which was highly sexual!!!!

We went for dinner yesterday, without alcohol and I still fancy him.
He's got tickets for a concert in a couple of weeks and asked me to go with him.

We are staying in a hotel on Friday!!

I can't wait.
I'm out with friends tonight, feel like I'm falling fast for Mr straight laced and I'm still on the look out for red flags but I'm really not seeing any.

He is a gentleman in public, didn't try anything on at all for the first 2 or 3 dates. Last night he told me what he wanted to do both to me and with me. He's asked what I like to do ( moose burger wise).
So excited.
