We're Stayin' Alive, it's DATING THREAD 105

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP

A bit, but it really does seem like he's been a bit cooler with me since Monday, and I'm a bit nervous as to why.

Hmmm, I hate it when they do that. You tell yourself that you are being paranoid but there's like this 6th sense that something is up. Go along and try and be nonchalant and gorgeous!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 09/06/2016 12:03

Why sick tanya? Cos you think he's losing interest?

Carrots Hi! And listen to your sensible girl...she's right! But I would be exactly the same. When's he due back?

Prizey good luck with your date with your younger guy, you cougar you! Grin

ash I think you are right, you did need to send that message, or you'd constantly be thinking "what if..." Presume you haven't had a response?

outnumbrd Would you see army guy again? That thing of being very controlled would bother me too, I prefer someone a bit more open and honest.

Not much to report from here. No response from MrE, though I do kind of think he might at some point. He's not blocked me on WhatsApp.

And I'm still a week away from a Doofus date! Argh! I was gettting a little miffed with his messaging style yesterday as he seems to do this thing where he "checks in" and it kind of felt like he was messaging because he felt he should rather than he actually wanted to talk to me, if that makes sense? But then we ended up having a nice little chat yesterday evening, lots of banter and I'm all happy again. And even if he does "check in", it's kind of nice that he's bothered enough to do that and shows he's thinking of me.

PrizeyPrize · 09/06/2016 12:14

ha ha.. thanks Freaky! Grrrr!

At least he checks in freaky, thats nice....and you did have chat yesterday. I think sometimes its difficult to find what to say when you have long chats everyday....don't worry!

tanyadm · 09/06/2016 12:27

Aye, the last few days he's just not been as open or chatty, but was keen to meet tonight, so no idea what's going on.

OP posts:
tanyadm · 09/06/2016 12:46

I can't quite even put my finger on it because he hasn't backed off entirely. We're both very verbally affectionate as well as physically, and he has just toned the messaging down completely since Monday, both in volume and lovey dovey-ness. Ah well, either I'll be proven to be paranoid or otherwise tonight!

OP posts:
PrizeyPrize · 09/06/2016 12:59

Keep us updated! Good luck Tanya

tanyadm · 09/06/2016 13:33

Thanks Prizey, hopefully it's nothing. It's just annoying that he's spent weeks being really full on and at the point I get my head around the reality that I want a relationship with this person, he backs off! Can't even put it down to premature moose-burger delivery.

Always the way tanya.....they are so predictable it's crazy. Let's hope he's just taken his foot off the pedal because he's just feeling comfortable with you and thinks he doesn't need to try as hard now.....Oh how wrong they can be Grin

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 09/06/2016 14:04

I think he's done exactly as prizey suggests...got a bit comfortable (cos he clearly adores you) and feels like he doesn't have to try anymore.

See what happens tonight but try not to fret...

SlowComfortableShrew · 09/06/2016 15:03

Well my travelling guy has sent me a postcard from the far flung place he is, and it says that he knows it's a cliche, but he wishes I was there so I could share it with him...and signs it lots of love...bit of a change from the IDWAR when I asked him if he was seeing other people. So he's come off all dating sites and this- guess this might be a go-er. He's back Sunday. Finding whatsapp very frustrating though, he blue ticks my messages then sometimes doesn't reply for 24 hours- I know whatsapp is flaky, especially in crap internet coverage but it's really tough....

ohchristnotagain · 09/06/2016 15:12

Hiya reading everyone's stories with interest. It really is a minefield isn't it.

Well second date guy blanked my message I sent him yesterday afternoon. So that's that then.

I joined tinder!! And enjoying it so far. Chatting to someone already, he's very cute.

Also chatting to someone off pof he's really keen to met but we just discovered he lives far away. I thought they went by distance?? Anyway it's nice to have the distraction. He's easy to talk to.

whatam1doing · 09/06/2016 19:22

Well planeman has really upped his game text wise, had a couple of chatty texts during the day and a few this evening before I headed out which he's never done before. Tinder guy chatted for ages last night so 1 irons in the go. Think I prefer tinder guy but maybe that's because of the conversations we've had plane man might be ok ! Made the mistake of logging on to match before and car man's pic was still on my winks page ...argh

TrafficJunkie · 09/06/2016 19:23

What's a moose burger?

I hate when men are flaky and they change. KATY PERRY didn't sing about it for no reason!!

Any updates?

tanyadm · 09/06/2016 20:17

Ahahah, sorry TJ, moose burgers are a euphemism for sex, the rough explanation of which is why would men go hunting if you are providing home delivery mooseburgers...

Things are good, we've had a massive proper talk. I am mildly tipsy and super happy. Smile

ashmts · 09/06/2016 22:00

tanya So happy to hear that! Exciting times ahead then.

Nah still no response. I feel like a bit of an idiot obviously but it's not like it was just me hitting on him, there was something mutual there at some point. It's not unexpected so I'm not upset or anything. The first time I see him round work will no doubt be supremely uncomfortable but I'm just going to style it out and act confident and professional. If he's not mature or courteous enough to reply then that is not my problem and I'm not interested any more. I've been watching a lot of Amy Young videos so...

Also I kissed someone at the weekend. First guy since my ex so that was probably good for my confidence. Although the feminist in me is annoyed by that. Think I need to work on my Amazing Life minus men. Advice?

whatam1doing · 09/06/2016 22:06

Don't know what's going on there two posts the same hours apart. Sorry

Outnumbrd · 09/06/2016 22:19

Great Tanya enjoy your night!!
I'm getting an early night, called off a second date with Mr 10 years younger tonight. Got a dinner invitation on sat with Mr Smiley, a new Tinder, he seems nice but you never know til you set eyes on them.

I'm finding it hard to let the ones from this week know I'm not feeling it. I hate to let people down and part of me thinks I should try harder to get to know them, one in particular is lovely but just didn't fancy him.
Why do I only fancy the bad boys!!!!

tanyadm · 09/06/2016 22:31

Errrr, ladies, the L word has been exchanged, and we've planned a trip to a gig in November in Manchester....
