would you date a shorter man?

Sorry if been done before. Had a date last night with a guy I met on-line and when I got there he was a good few inches shorter than me. I had wedges on, though not huge ones and am 5'5''. It did put me off to be honest, and I feel awful for being so shallow as he was really nice, and good looking. I suspect he would still be shorter than me if I was wearing flats, help! Should I meet him again? Would you date a guy that's shorter than you?

No

donajimena · 05/02/2016 17:00

At 5ft 10 I don't have much choice. There aren't many six footers out there!

AlwaysHopeful1 · 05/02/2016 17:02

I have to say honestly no.

ThornyBird · 05/02/2016 17:03

Also 5ft10 and married to a 5ft9 man. I love wearing heels even if it looks us look a bit 'Bernie Ecclestone'.

ThornyBird · 05/02/2016 17:03

*makes us look Blush

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/02/2016 17:04

Yes, I would, one of my exes is 5"2 which is the same height as me and obvs short, and I wore heels all the time.
Don't if it's off putting to you though, you don't have to date anyone for any reason you wish, I don't think it makes you shallow.

VeryFoolishFay · 05/02/2016 17:05

Afraid I'm shallow too. I'm not that tall, 5'6", but quite sturdy and feel like an amazonian in comparison. I think it's just a personal prejudice and I try so hard not to have them!

Snoopadoop · 05/02/2016 17:05

I'm 5'2" and there probably aren't many men shorter than me, but no I don't think I would.

ThisIsStillFolkGirl · 05/02/2016 17:05

I'm 5'3".

I want a man between about 5'6 and 5'8.

I probably wouldn't seek out a man shorter than me, but then there aren't many! I wouldn't say "no" based on that.

I'd rather date someone of 5'5 than 6'+ tbh.

Thethingswedoforlove · 05/02/2016 17:06

Yes. Absolutely.

MoreGilmoreGirls · 05/02/2016 17:06

I wouldn't but I'm 5 ft 1 so there's not many blokes shorter than me. Depends if you still fancy him.

Shirkingfromhome · 05/02/2016 17:07

I wouldn't, I'm 5 10" too and thankfully dh is still taller than me when I wear heels. Did you like him OP? Is it something you could get used to?

Muskateersmummy · 05/02/2016 17:08

In honesty, no. You have to be attracted to a person you date and I find men taller than me more attractive. As a 5'10 woman I have been out with a shorter man once, it didn't go well (more because he was a manipulative idiot than because he was short!) but generally speaking I didn't find shorter men attractive

RingUpRingRingDown · 05/02/2016 17:09

No, but I'm very short.

MrsEricBana · 05/02/2016 17:10

Yes definitely if they were all the other things I was hoping for in a relationship.

TrionicLettuce · 05/02/2016 17:12

I married one. DH is a good 3-4" shorter than me (even when I'm not in heels) and it's not something that has ever bothered either of us.

AmserGwin · 05/02/2016 17:15

Thanks for replies, I'm thinking I should maybe go for a date in flats and take it from there. I do like him, but have always gone for taller men

someone once told me we are all the same size lay down... fuckin' liars. the other halfs feet dangle out the bottom of the bed 😬

WowOoo · 05/02/2016 17:17

Yes. No problem!

TwistInMySobriety · 05/02/2016 17:51

Yes, absolutely. dH is my height, five four, and he's an absolute gem. More fool the women who overlooked him because of his height. Give him a chance.

cosytoaster · 05/02/2016 17:56

There's a real shortage of really nice and good looking on OLD, so yes!

Cel982 · 05/02/2016 17:58

Yes, of course. I'm surprised how many people wouldn't, to be honest Confused

Olddear · 05/02/2016 18:02

No.

WaitingForMe · 05/02/2016 18:02

Maybe. My mum and dad were the same height but she never really wore heels, he had a bit of a chip on his shoulder about it. SIL is only a tiny bit shorter than DB but he insists she periodically wears her high heels (that she loves, I hasten to add) as he is not the kind of guy to get insecure about having a hot wife.

I wouldn't date a shorter guy like my dad but think my brother has the right attitude. I'm a fraction taller than my DH in my highest heels and he's proud to be the guy on my arm.

SirChenjin · 05/02/2016 18:05

No I wouldn't. I'm five foot one and a bit so it would feel v strange to be taller than someone.
