born and tanya the nerve of me, I'm only 5'2" but I think 5'8" is about my minimum too. NOT that I couldn't fall for somebody shorter in a real life situation but realistically, you turn up, you want to feel it. All of my previous irons were about 6' although that wasn't deliberate. They messaged me. Nobody I messaged ever got as far as a rl date! It only got to a date if they messaged me. If I were deciding whether to go out tonight with two men, say 5'10 and 6' I'd look at the other factors much more.

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 13:24

Prizey! oh good, it's still on but at an equally convenient location. Good. Brew

tanyadm · 03/02/2016 13:25

Well exactly, there's short, and there is disportionately short! Bee was only 2" taller than me, but made up for it in intelligence and charisma, unfortunately!

tanyadm · 03/02/2016 13:26

Disproportionately, even.

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 13:27

born lol, yeh, i've seen messages like that "6.4" and no more effort to sell themselves at all!

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 13:32

So, now a bit of time has passed tanya any theories on what went wrong there? did you reveal too much too soon? or maybe he's only looking for sex and is canny enough to know that that doesn't work when there's a connection. Who can guess? the man who contacted me out of the blue yesterday, I will call him MrCanceller, I thought we had hit it off back in August. We swapped life stories pretty much. It was two-sided. He told me why his marriage ended, and it was a story that put him in psychotherapy so we discussed that a bit! Which was nice........ but then I wondered if we'd over shared. It was a first date! BUT we'd had a good laugh too you know Confused I wonder if he will reply to my reply.

tanyadm · 03/02/2016 13:35

To be honest, I think his recent relationships have been too complicated, and I would put money on him being one of these men looking for a "manic pixie dream girl". I think he just needs to grow up a lot, not claim there are reciprocal feelings where there are none, not kiss women for the sake of it, and be honest.

JollyXmasJumper · 03/02/2016 13:37

Haha 314 we are the same height and I draw the line at more or less 5.8'. In reality I am a lot more attracted to very tall guys. I put it down to Darwinism - a good match should compensate my shortcomings for offsprings to survive haha Grin

tanyadm · 03/02/2016 13:37

Aye, Bee was the same as your MrCanceller, it was a two way life story sharing, very similar experiences. I am obviously just not his type. I have deleted his number/blocked profile etc. Shame, as we would have been fab friends.

tanyadm · 03/02/2016 13:41

Pm-d you, pie.

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 13:41

Absolutely, Darwinism indeed. I've a friend with a big nose and she always went for these guys with cute little button noses. She was obsessed with noses. Her husband has a girl's nose imo. Her children have much smaller noses than she does! She drools over photos of her children's noses! I hope I don't sound too crazy here.

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 13:46

Ah right. I get it. Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Who's she? Like the make you feel good fairy. She's no needs of her own? but she meets all of his? and she's a good bit younger? and beautiful? and "cool'' ie very suggestible.

BornToFolk · 03/02/2016 13:49

That's quite a nerve 314 You should be dating the short arses...leave the lanky ones for us tall birds...Grin

JollyXmasJumper · 03/02/2016 14:33

One thing trumps height for me though : shoulder-width.. Apparently it is another biological thing and the first thing a woman notices.. Discuss Grin

I like V-shaped, rugby-style guys much more than a tall, lanky basketball guy. Though Popcorn was the latter

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 14:33

Born I know it might seem like that (a nerve!) but I was replying to whoever messaged me and taking it from there. I think it's darwinism for the men too. The shorter ones like women almost their own height ime
I think a man of 5'8'' with a 5'6" gf feels more like part of a power couple :-p ;-)

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 14:34

oh yes! that's true, Jolly. Very true. Broad shoulders!

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 14:36

waving not shallow. You have to want to sleep with them, or what's it all about. Another friend?? To be honest, I think that if you meet them through a dating site, already, the boundaries are a tiny bit blurry for platonic friendship. There'd always be that dashed hope in the air. I think I would like that with B anyway. For me.

ALaughAMinute · 03/02/2016 14:37

I'm 5'6" and have set my criteria to 5'10" or over with a degree. No wonder then that there are only 3 men within a 50 mile radius that I could potentially be interested in.

I'll keep looking. Hmm

JollyXmasJumper · 03/02/2016 14:39

Haha 314 I thing it has to do with "feeling protected". Even though for me it is more a case of not feeling too bulky (former varsity swimmer here)

I need the universe to send me an artsy, tattooed, bearded, intelligent, tall, rugby player who can play the guitar.

ALaughAMinute · 03/02/2016 14:42

Another vote for broad shoulders here. I like the big, strong, manly types. Nice! Smile

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 14:43

I have had messages from men so short I wondered if they'd entered their details wrong. Like 5'3". So men who probably message every woman on the site who's shorter. And may the good lord forgive me, but no, just no. There is NO point. I wouldn't be attracted to them.

Shorter men who are a more normal category of ''short'' 5'8" ish, they don't message me, they message women almost their height. Honestly!! So don't give out to me!! I have had more messages from taller men than from men 5'8" ish. Not sure I understand it.

WhoWants314 · 03/02/2016 14:44

lol Jolly, I was messaging a man who said he played the guitar and I thought, oh dear..... stay away from me with that. He was 6' though! We never did meet up.

JollyXmasJumper · 03/02/2016 14:47

Yep, 314 I noticed that too!!! Most men who message me are over 6' and lanky. I am 5.2 and curvy. That is definitely Darwinism.
