I suspect he thinks it is the wife of another band member who told me(just a guess) and he doesn't know who, and therefore who may disapprove.
The business is niche and any scandal would easily be gossiped about within the small industry . He likes to put on the 'gentleman' act . So any scandal would horrify him, work wise iyswim.
