HOBBIT’S BAR – still finding it hard to move on…part 9

Welcome to Hobbit’s Bar, owned by Hobbit, open to all and run by anyone who wants the job!

This is the place to come if your marriage/relationship has come to an end and you are struggling to come to terms with this. It is a place to vent, ask for advice, relate to others in the same situation, take a break and have a laugh, whatever.

There are people in this bar at all stages of separation – just separated, negotiating, mediation, court, divorced - and all reasons for this, whether it is abuse, general breakdown, financial worries, OW/OM involved, or coming to terms with a new life.

It is a place to come to for support. You are never obliged to give support to others or reply to any posts. It is ALWAYS okay to say SHIT THIS IS HARD and interrupt the giggles if you are having a tough time. No apology necessary. No one will have a go at you for what you are feeling and share on here. Divorce is a rollercoaster, we are all at different stages, so feel free to jump right in.

Some glossary terms:

  1. Jess is our mascot. Owned by Hobbit, she might do requests if there are enough sausages in it for her.
  2. Izzitinis are a revolting cocktail created by Izzie that only she drinks!
  3. No 6’s are what we are/were married to, after Hobbit’s Twunts list. Some of us also have “pet” nicknames for our exes
  4. KOKO – keep on keeping on (used a lot on here along with SHIT THIS IS HARD)
  5. Ignore any exclamation marks posted by Izzie or Roz that might make their comments sounds a bit…dodgy. Something to do with their iPads having a mind of their own!
  6. We all listen to WWK aka WellWhoKnew aka Mother who keeps us under control.

Our theme tune is

My name is bobs, 55, married 22 years, 2 DDs 21 & 18 who have NC with their Dad. Nisi granted last April on the basis of 2 year separation while living in the same house. Tried solicitors for over a year to sort out the financials, then mediation for 5 months which didn’t work as due to his PA nature he is all but supine and unable to contribute. Sold our family home over a year ago and have been living in rental as he had the house proceeds frozen. He has now been given a choice of accepting my proposal or going to arbitration or court.

Hobbitwife001 · 31/05/2015 10:39

Ooh, bacon .....
Ooh Sweeney....

Ooh, bacon and Sweeney, and bed, equals match made in heaven Grin
[bush bush] ha ha like basil brush, bush! Bush! Not boom! Boom!

Ya know, I am kinda bonkers...... In a good way.....

Hobbitwife001 · 31/05/2015 10:44

Would it be terribly wrong of me to get Jess to say
[bush bush] ?
Is that classed as cruelty to terriers?
Just taking a straw poll here....

Notlivingwithsemtexhoorah · 31/05/2015 10:45

Sorry Hobbit Uzi's out of stock I accidentally bought the last 199,000 of them just in case a few were faulty

TheOldWiseOne · 31/05/2015 10:48

iwas I have a counter top halogen oven - it is perfect for grilling especially if you just ignore it ...Wink - actually have just noticed on e bay a rack where you can put eggs in in their shell in and your toast....I was too lazy to cook an egg but it would have been nice to dip in - was going to go and get groceries this morning but weather just too bad! Am going to a cinema Meet Up later so will stop by the M and S food outlet at the services and pick up a few bits to tide me over...

TheOldWiseOne · 31/05/2015 10:49

what is [bush bush] ....? Confused

Bambino1234 · 31/05/2015 10:49

Thank you for all the ladies who commented yesterday.
I feel slightly more chipper this morning... I guess like everything it just takes time to move on !

iwashappy · 31/05/2015 10:51

WhyMe the weasel really is a sadistic bastard isn't he. Throwing away your DD's dried flower, what right did he have to do that. Could you get someone else to do the handovers for you if he's going to behave like this. Hope you're okay Flowers

Hobbit I'm not surprised you're still hurt about pamphletgate. Utterly insensitive and unnecessary from the lot of them. It was bad enough you having the pamphlets but knowing they're going to be available around the village for a bit and therefore on display is going to be hard for you.

Could you get one of those stamp things that say things like "paid", "urgent", "confidential" etc but get one made saying "bastard", "lycra twunt", "adulterer" and "FF and BF" and keep it in your handbag and when you see one stamp it.

Hobbitwife001 · 31/05/2015 10:53

Wearing a wig? < goes completely over the top>

Hobbitwife001 · 31/05/2015 10:54

RSPCA knocking the door down as we speak!
Free the arse end of nowhere one!

Hobbitwife001 · 31/05/2015 10:58

Ha ha Iwas lovely suggestion, but as you have to buy the " pamphlet" I don't think people would be too impressed with my "alteration"

Have already done it to my own copy of course.....

iwashappy · 31/05/2015 11:03

Didn't the theme tune for Only Fools and Horses mention Shepherds Bush, bush, bush, bush, bush...

1 every time you mention your H mowing I automatically get "One Man Went To Mow" in my head now thanks Izzie

Wise if you grill bacon in this oven of yours does it involve having to wash up anything like a grill pan? I do bacon in the oven sometimes as I hate washing the grill pan but it's never as nice probably because I forget about it and end up with black bacon [bush]

iwashappy · 31/05/2015 11:10

Hobbit You have to pay money to get the pamphlet with those two twunts on it!! I think sales might be down this month then. I can't recall who said it but whoever posted that you should think of the pamphlets thrown out with the rubbish all over their faces was very true. Totally apt it will end up with the rubbish. x

1nogoingback3 · 31/05/2015 11:13

Morning all. Weather miserable here too but just as well for me as really must do some work today. Why oh why do I wait so I have to work under pressure. Used to be the same with exams. Need the fear to get going.

I remember seeing the pineapples when I first started googling 'help my husband wants to leave' I remember they made me laugh. Never for a moment did I think they could end up in court . Gin Is it me or has the world gone mad??

Well Mr HRT is en route home. Car obviously not destroyed during the night. Well at least he's coming home via supermarket and so it will save me a job. [ink]

roz you sound like an inspirational lady. I think it's really important to differentiate between the sadness experienced by the end of a marriage in which we invested so much time, effort and love and the men (lady) who caused us all such grief. I don't want him back because of what he has become (and perhaps always was) BUT I've accepted that it's not a contradiction to, at the same time, be devastated by the loss of my marriage. Does that make sense? Anyway KOKO xx

TheOldWiseOne · 31/05/2015 11:14

iwas it has a self clean thing in it - you put a bit of water and Fairy in and then switch it on then you just need to pout out and wipe with kitchen roll.. you do need to hand wash the grill rack though or put in dishwasher..

I've just looked at the Telegraph dating site, I think it just confirms that I want to stay single. One had in his profile "Man with time on his hands seeks compatible playmate!!!" He's 59!!, who does he think he is Hugh Heffner! Another had "if your cup is half empty, can I buy you the other half" Jesus, that's the best chat up they can come up with!!

Izzie595 · 31/05/2015 11:21

I want a bacon roll. Have the bacon but not the roll, well no crusty ones. Oh, you've persuaded me, I'm going to have a bacon roll

Iwas every time I hear the OFAH theme toon I shall think of bush I'm going to look a right loony just laughing at the theme toon

As for pineapples.......Grin

TheOldWiseOne · 31/05/2015 11:23

Right that's it I am going to look at the Telegraph Wink

1nogoingback3 · 31/05/2015 11:23

Oh ladies, I'm laughing out loud. Bless you all xx Gin

Izzie595 · 31/05/2015 11:23

Pamphlet gate

Remember that line from Newport?

Newport

iwashappy · 31/05/2015 11:28

Wise thank you that. I like the self clean idea. I don't mind washing the wire rack it's the actual pan I hate. I might get one at some point, it will be handy if DD is out or when she goes to University and it's just me to cook for.

1 I totally understand what you mean and have said the same. I don't mourn not being married to Sid anymore but I am still upset about the end and loss of my marriage.

iwashappy · 31/05/2015 11:36

Stop talking about bacon!!! I have some of that bacon with maple syrup on it in the fridge, it's lovely. But I forgot bread yesterday and I'm not going to the shop. I have got some of those rolls that are half cooked and you finish them off in the oven but I've just looked and they were best by the 14th April, they look alright. Do you think they will be okay?

Notlivingwithsemtexhoorah · 31/05/2015 11:40

iwas they should be ok unless you're allergic to penicillin

iwashappy · 31/05/2015 11:47

That Newport song was rather good Izzie to my surprise I've been on a train through Newport but I don't know if that counts as going there!
