Mouseface · 01/04/2015 14:49

Hello, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. It's a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, occasional slurpers, sneaky sippers, we're all a very different bunch but we ALL have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

We all have a story or two to tell, we have all been through some terrible times, some more than others and we all have our reasons for drinking or even not. Smile

The one true wonderful thing about this Bus is that we don't do judging!! We're all on a even playing field, no matter what has brought us to this thread.

So, if you'd like to talk, then talk. If you want to lurk and see how we work for a while, that's cool too :)

The Bus is never full, there's always is room for YOU.

And, if you'd like to see what started this off, amost good 5 years ago now, have a look at A TRULY AWESOME HEARTFELT THEAD HERE

And our last thread is just here too for those who would like some more history THIS IS WHERE WE'VE JUST BEEN

Hope to see you soon :) xxx

Oh noooooo!hope.
If she just got mine its manageable with an apology, but I'm worried it shows the whole thread which contains email from boss to me about some stuff that will cause us big problems.
Why am I so fucking stupid????????

aliasjoey · 01/05/2015 21:10

You are not stupid ma you just have so much on your plate, or you're juggling plates or something

guggenheim · 01/05/2015 21:11

ma is there a helpdesk you can call to see if you can recall it? Otherwise an apology and brief explanation? Also- stop working,it's friday night and you're ill!!!! STEP away from the office mail.

looking You have my sympathy,it sounds awful. There is a vile, bullying culture in some public sector places and it sounds like bastard boss is one of those. So sorry lovely,I hope the unions help, they can be brilliant.
It's very hard to stay off the booze when life gone tits up- sympathy.

And for what it's worth,I look exactly like Mrs Doyle rather than Sissy & Ada,but I do have a big heavy handbag and will cheerfully swing it at bastard manager's nuts,if that would help?

Hello there lovely mouse and isinde and venus hope that all is well with you.

guggenheim · 01/05/2015 21:12

And hi to lovely joey

My ability to nc has not improved. sigh.

HandsThatDoDishes · 01/05/2015 22:01

ma and hope you are not stupid or pathetic. You are putting up with a shit load of crap and whether you're doing that with or without alcohol I think you're both amazing!

I don't know about Sissy and Ada (haven't got the matronly bosoms) but I've certainly got the singing voice of Hilda Ogden!

Love to all the babes! Night night xx

lookingforhope · 02/05/2015 09:47

Morning. Got a day alone with the kids today. Want to not drink tonight but the reality of what our union are calling 'the most abominable treatment of staff we have witnessed in 17 years in the job' and my impending unemployment is hitting home. What to do with myself? Feeling bleak and can't see when this problem is likely to go away ..... So angry and powerless. What are the non alcoholic coping techniques? Help!

lookingforhope · 02/05/2015 10:02

Ma how are you? Did you check your sent items to see what email you actually forwarded? Hope it wasn't as bad as you feared. Ds just woke up with pulled muscle day before his party and less than a week to first important event of race season which he's been training for since February. So guess my problems can take a back seat while I sort this out ! Confused. So not totally useless and not needed in the world after all Hmm

dementedma · 02/05/2015 12:28

Hi hope haven't slept for worrying. The email app on my tablet shows the whole thread but it does that all the time and doesnt mean the whole thread has been forwarded on. I need to get on the PC and log in remotely to check properly and wb I on it watching footie! I feel sick.
However, nothing compared to your worries. When I your last day at work. Can you say what you do without outing yourself and maybe some of the babes can help?
I have a massage with Auntie Derek this afternoon and boy do I need it it!
On the good news side, my best friend Annie became a granny last night as baby Lauren Belle beat the royal baby by a few hours. I'm happy for her - she has had a shit time and nice to see her smiling again.
And hope you are not useless and very much needed on this bus and in the world of the babes. Remember, you can check out but you can never leave.

lookingforhope · 02/05/2015 14:22

We don't know our last day at work. I am spending today crafting our group grievance (so that's cheery Hmm ) - one of the mainstays of which is that we have been lied to and misinformed for 6 months. If my leaving date was Wednesday they would mention it as an aside on Tuesday when they repossessed the computer. They are utter bastards. Not likely to be before July though, but who knows? Wish I could go public on it cos would love to out the bastard whose fault this is, but would compromise any future legal case, so ..... D'aaargh Angry

Perhaps you and I need to set up a business together! Coloured hair mandatory (mine is blonde and scarlet) and we can install an email programme with a long delay function. We could declare it a wankbadger free zone and you could ask Midget Obama if he has a friend for me to ogle.

Not sure how to spend my days from now on in ....

Drinking myself into a stupor is appealing but know that's not the answer

Ds is off his sick bed now and fretting about missing training Sad

Dd is trying to persuade me to stop work and crochet her a headband so might do that while watching repeats of Big Bang Theory.

Have you had any luck yet with the email thing? Have you managed to log on to your work account? Hope it works out. Can you warn lovely boss? Might help to talk to him?

lookingforhope · 02/05/2015 14:24

Pressed post too soon then! Also meant to say congratulations to your friend on her granddaughter, and enjoy your massage!

dementedma · 02/05/2015 17:39

Love the business idea hope sounds like a plan.
Lovely boss has emailed asking if I have managed to recall it. I'm scared to check. He says he will enjoy listening to the grovelly phone call I'm going to have to make.
Can you spend some time on updating your CV, contacting recruitment agencies? Where are you in the uk?
Massage was fab, but painful as I'm pretty tense. I know!!!
He does make me laugh though....

Fairenuff · 02/05/2015 18:47

Lovely name your friend chose for her dd ma.

This email debacle reminds me of the last one where you sent one all about your norks to lovely boss by mistake Grin

Love the fact that this bus has been going so long we can actually reminisce.

dementedma · 02/05/2015 19:46

Oh god yes, the norks one! That was off the scale embarrassment wise but this one is unprofessional. Not that the first one wasnt iyswim but lovely boss never mentioned it again. He's probably saved it and re-reads it for a laugh every so often....That was about 3 years ago by the way....

SweetLathyrus · 02/05/2015 20:00

Evening Babes.

Ma I have the same worry about email threads because they look different on Mac and PC, but if you started a new email, ie to a new address, it should be ok, but may be showing as 'nested' because the subject line is the same. I get this because students seem incapable of putting a subject line, so everything appears together as 'no subject'.

Hope having lead and complied a group grievance, I don't envy you, but dies this mean you are effectively on gardening leave until next month?

I'm struggling because I'm drinking , and the ADs seem to have stopped working (actually before I started drinking, which is I think what started me on the slippery slope). I have lovely chinks of light when I walk Pup, who has been off the lead for the first time this week, I wish tennis balls and cheese could make me THAT happy! And watching Puss in the garden, but not when she bought in a live starling yesterday. But I can't seem to haul myself back out of it. I need a serious slap around the chops with Barry.

SweetLathyrus · 02/05/2015 20:30

I have just had to dunk the cat in the sink. She came in stinking of fox shit. Honestly, I expect that sort of behaviour from the dog, but really, Puss. Shock

dementedma · 02/05/2015 21:03

Lol sweet. Bet she enjoyed that!

SweetLathyrus · 02/05/2015 21:30

Sponge bath didn't get it all, Ma, she has just had to have a shower. DH is sitting on the stairs with a bag of Dreamies, trying to persuade her we're not totally evil!

HandsThatDoDishes · 02/05/2015 22:28

sweet what ADs are you taking? I was prescribed sertraline a few weeks ago but then read they make you feel worse before you start feeling better and I really can't face feeling any worse so they're still in my bedside drawer, unopened. I thought maybe just stopping drinking would make me feel better but I haven't been able to stop drinking either Sad x

SweetLathyrus · 03/05/2015 07:43

morning.

Hands, I'm taking fluoxetine. I started in Feb, and for the first week I felt like I was tripping, but I knew to expect that. It takes a month to six weeks to have any effect on mood, but I've just found the last week or so I've felt low and pathetic although there's nothing that would objectively make me feel that way.

What is everyone doing with this rainy Sunday?

Rubyredlips · 03/05/2015 09:28

Morning all. Not been on for a while and so have spent ages catching up. Can't nc everyone but I am up to date.

Sweet you should go back to doctor if ADs not working.

I'm trying to lose weight but have put on nearly 3lb this week Shock

dementedma · 03/05/2015 09:36

I have found Citalopram to be useful in the past.
I am in bed MNing and listening to the rain battering the windows. I think thats pretty much the plan for the day.

HandsThatDoDishes · 03/05/2015 09:42

Morning ladies hope you're all ok Smile

We're off to see DS again today. Isn't this weather depressing, it's so cold as well. Sweet do you think you may need to increase the dosage? Have you had any side effects such as weight gain? I need to lose weight not put it on!

Have a lovely day babes xx

SweetLathyrus · 03/05/2015 10:13

Morning, Ruby, Ma, Hands. I plan to go back to the Drs next week. But I found fluoxetine depressed my appetite quite a lot to begin with; I've not weighed myself in a month or so, but I began the year at 10 stones, and last weighed 9st 2, and just bought my first pair of size 10 skinny jeans in twenty odd years not very stealth boast I should be happy shouldn't I?

Just got back from a very wet walk, Pup spent the whole time off the lead for the first time, so he's good for a couple of hours sleep while I go shopping.

Ma it's grim out there, stay where you are as long as you can!

aliasjoey · 03/05/2015 13:31

Morning babes I'm buzzing this morning - I think the HRT is working, and I'm sleeping so well! The first patch gave me a rash, the second has been okay and I just feel so much better! I just need to try and control my drinking now...

Re. ADs I've been on seroxat for years (for anxiety rather than depression) and really notice the difference if I miss a few days.

How are you doing ma is your dad still in hospital?

dementedma · 03/05/2015 14:17

Hey joey good to hear you upbeat.
Yes, he's still in and is supposedly being assessed for a move to an interim home and then a permananet one. He won't be coming home again. My sis is trying to sort out all the paperwork and legals. I wish he would just die - stop him lingering in this half world of confusion and incontinence.
Other than that, and worrying about the work email scenario, I'm having a lazy day. Still I'm my PJs, beef casserole in the slow cooker and have attempted a batch of scones in the forlorn hope that they might actually rise for once....
