Hello, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. It's a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, occasional slurpers, sneaky sippers, we're all a very different bunch but we ALL have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

We all have a story or two to tell, we have all been through some terrible times, some more than others and we all have our reasons for drinking or even not. Smile

The one true wonderful thing about this Bus is that we don't do judging!! We're all on a even playing field, no matter what has brought us to this thread.

So, if you'd like to talk, then talk. If you want to lurk and see how we work for a while, that's cool too :)

The Bus is never full, there's always is room for YOU.

And, if you'd like to see what started this off, amost good 5 years ago now, have a look at A TRULY AWESOME HEARTFELT THEAD HERE

And our last thread is just here too for those who would like some more history THIS IS WHERE WE'VE JUST BEEN

Hope to see you soon :) xxx

I remember MIFLAW too used to scare me Easter Wink

aliasjoey · 01/04/2015 21:57

Hello isinde you old long-time Easter Wink

I just feel knackered and run-down all the time. No energy. Am guzzling iron tonic and trying to stay AF. Bit worried because when this happened 3 years ago, it took three doctors, half a dozen appointments and trying out 4 different drugs over the course of a year to feel better.

But we never really pinpointed the cause (one GP thought it was depression, another suggested vitamin D deficiency, and the third said it was maybe chronic fatigue... I wondered if it wasn't menopausal...)

aliasjoey · 01/04/2015 22:00

That should say 'long-timer'

ma I was beaten by isinde asking about your 'military chaps' do tell us!

Stellar67 · 01/04/2015 22:17

AngryAngryI just wrote a huge script there only to delete it. Anyway....Confused
Alias Go back to Dr and ask for full blood tests. I was back and forth to Dr for a year and a half and finally got full blood tests and got diagnosed with thyroid issues. Not saying that's what you have, but better to check all of you.
Toenails and hands done do bed for me. NN bus babes.

Stellar67 · 01/04/2015 22:20

Ma, Scottish Parliament? I'm intrigued. I'm also scottish Grin

SoberSocFish · 01/04/2015 23:29

Hello!!

A shiny new thread. Thought I should just mark my place. Like a dog pissing on it's territory.

I'm sorry I'm so absent. It's kind of half intentional but also just that alcohol is not taking up much head space any more. I am trying to stay away from mumsnet in general as it's a big dark space of time wasting. I'm also just trying to live without alcohol and to not spend so much energy on 'not drinking'. And I'm not Smile

I am now almost 11 months sober. Best thing ever. I'm so grateful and delighted to be sober. It's hard to express it properly. Life is still dull and shit and hard, but sobriety is an absolute blessing.

These days I have twinges (not very often), but they pass so quickly and when I reflect back on my life of hiding bottles and secret drinking I shudder. I cannot go back to that. I sometimes toy with 'controlled' drinking but I know very, very well that there is no such thing as controlled drinking in my persona. I have never drunk sensibly. And I never will. So I won't drink at all.

I'm still so fond of this bus and so grateful for the babes that helped me get through those god awful early days and weeks.

I can't recommend sobriety enough. It's really much, much better. Wine is just stupid. And not necessary.

xxxx

dementedma · 02/04/2015 08:05

spanna41 · 02/04/2015 08:13

venusandmars · 02/04/2015 08:17

ma that might mean two of you in the room who are imagining people naked...... Wink

For anyone who has been around on the bus for a long time....... do you remember a young woman called strawberry ? She was in a difficult place with her drinking with issues about her dc, including a young baby.... Well I came across her on another (unrelated thread) and the lovely news is that she is currently 3 years and 7 months sober and still a strong AA member. So good to hear of people who have travelled with us for a little of their journey.

Rubyredlips · 02/04/2015 08:27

Morning all.

Just off to work....

Venus I don't remember Strawberry but fab news for her.

Soc well done and ditto the inspirational comments

Got a bad headache but it's not alcohol related think it's my sinuses so it's a Easter Smile Easter Sad

SweetLathyrus · 02/04/2015 08:48

Morning all. A busy bus at the moment.

I can't name check because I'm busy with animals, and it takes so long on my tablet, but I love you all. I'll be Easter egg buying later, and if I could get one for each and every one of you, I would.

SmallFox · 02/04/2015 09:43

Wow - lovely shiny bouncy bus this morning! Soc you have set the tone for us - am so happy for you, hugely well done and an inspiration for us all.

Stellar good luck with your talk.

Unexpected day at home for me for various reasons - am working but also doing a bit of pottering around, nice. Happy gentle night out with DP, gave up on trying to find fun AF things to drink and just stuck to water which was great (except for getting up numerous times in the night - am getting seriously elderly). Done my morning outdoor swim - freezy cold today, and a bit irked that the sun is coming out now I am home. But the daffodils are waving and my head is clear and all in all, its gonna be a happy day. Enjoy, y'all.

NoAprilFool · 02/04/2015 10:00

Morning all.

What an inspirational post soc. Well done.

So, today is Day 2 for me. I didn't get the good nights sleep I needed. 17 month old DD woke up vomiting at 10pm so very little sleep and a lot of cuddles and disinfectant.....

I was so, so grateful that I hadn't had a drink though. I definitely benefitted from being clear headed and calm.

SweetLathyrus · 02/04/2015 11:50

April, you will find after a week or so that being AF means you can get back to sleep and sleep more deeply if you're woken up.

Soc, you're a LEGEND.

Small, out door swimming is SO brave. Have a good day.

Isn't it rather nice to know that you're actually feeling bad, not just hungover Ruby Easter Grin !

dementedma · 02/04/2015 12:33

no spanna but I might be drooling.....

I remember strawberry. That is wonderful news.

Fairenuff · 02/04/2015 12:36

Wine is just stupid. And not necessary.

Grin Love that Soc. I might get it made into a banner to put on the back of the bus.

Also, I have installed a mud bath for anyone who wants to wallow in self pity. There are bowls of strawberries and fizzy fever tree tonic water (nowt but the best for us) nestling amongst the scented candles.

Warm showers to slough off the old you once you feel 'cleansed' and fluffy white bathrobes to snuggle into. Joey can be in charge of the meditation music and we just need ma to smuggle the magic fingered Derek onboard (when she's finished with military chaps).

Aaaah

(PS no farting in the mud bath)

Joey It might help to keep quite a detailed diary of what you've been doing and how you feel. Might show up a pattern eventually?

Sweet glad I'm not alone in leaving easter egg buying til now. Normally I'm all stocked up and ready for the annual hunt but this year I'm wondering if there will be anything left.

Tesco delivered my shopping yesterday and the driver told me that on another delivery they didn't have the eggs that the lady has requested and didn't substitute anything but she was upset because she couldn't get out to buy something else for her nephew, so the lovely driver popped into Sainsbury's and bought the eggs for her. Isn't that kind. He said he was worried he would be in trouble for parking his Tesco van in Sainsbury's car park. But he was willing to risk that to help the old lady. What a fab guy Easter Smile

Fairenuff · 02/04/2015 12:37

Ma no drooling in the mud bath either!

Rubyredlips · 02/04/2015 12:44

I love the Tesco man Faire

Sweet a buttons egg will do for me Easter Wink and yes glad not a hangover

SweetLathyrus · 02/04/2015 14:11

Faire you are spoiling us Easter Smile. Sainsbury's was a bit thin on Easter eggs (apart from their rubbish cheap own-brand ones); but M &as had lots, I got DH a rather lovely coco bean shaped one. Ds will get his Chocolat de Paque en France.

What a lovely Tesco man.
Ma, how was it? Or have you signed the official secrets act? Easter Grin

dementedma · 02/04/2015 16:08

official secrets act. I can tell you but then I would have to kill you...
mud bath sounds fab - Derek would be the perfect addition

eeek, Easter eggs! Better get some bought I suppose...

SweetLathyrus · 02/04/2015 16:28

Ma Easter Grin Easter Wink

SweetLathyrus · 02/04/2015 17:33

Spent the afternoon clearing and levelling a patch of ground ready to sow some grass at the weekend. DS had a half day off school and dug a fire pit Easter Hmm. All of that has worn out Pup, who is fast asleep, and farting without embarrassment Easter Blush.
