Hello, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. It's a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, occasional slurpers, sneaky sippers, we're all a very different bunch but we ALL have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

We all have a story or two to tell, we have all been through some terrible times, some more than others and we all have our reasons for drinking or even not. Smile

The one true wonderful thing about this Bus is that we don't do judging!! We're all on a even playing field, no matter what has brought us to this thread.

So, if you'd like to talk, then talk. If you want to lurk and see how we work for a while, that's cool too :)

The Bus is never full, there's always is room for YOU.

And, if you'd like to see what started this off, amost good 5 years ago now, have a look at A TRULY AWESOME HEARTFELT THEAD HERE

And our last thread is just here too for those who would like some more history THIS IS WHERE WE'VE JUST BEEN

Hope to see you soon :) xxx

I'd better stay up on the roof rack tonight - haven't had a shower for 3 days (we're having work done in the bathroom) and there's only so much baby wipes and perfume can do... Grin

dementedma · 15/04/2015 21:10

Yeah. Work continues to lurch towards bankruptcy, dad still in hospital, dh still a WB and have fallen out with Distracted Chap....and have a smear test tomorrow. Great!

aliasjoey · 15/04/2015 22:39

Christ ma it's a sad day when a smear test is the highlight...

alongcamespiders · 16/04/2015 03:41

Hi I wanted to join the bus due to a history of hazardous drinking. This has been seriously curbed for years since before I had kids but there's been a couple of times lately where I've fallen off the bus. The most recent was shameful and I guess I'm just joining for the solidarity.
I do have a seriousl alcoholic father and my relationship with alcohol has been very hit and miss, I have been in some seriously dangerous situations and have alienated friends in the past due to disinhibition and various other things. I think my recent fall has really shocked me and I sho have a handle on things but maybe I can't do it alone...hello!

spanna41 · 16/04/2015 07:48

Morning.

Welcome to the bus, Spiders. You'll get all the support and understanding you want and need here.

Spanna, yup, DS is back this weekend. Much to his disgust, the French air traffic controllers have called off their three day strike Grin. You're sounding boingy this morning. Long may it last.

Ma, what happened with distracted chap? Last smear I went for I think the nurse was a stand up comedian on the side. First she told me she was waiting for her "favourite speculum to finish sterilising" (I kid you not, she had a favourite speculum Shock ). Then she had to wave it around outside to cool it down, all while I'm lay there with my knickers round my ankles). Then she made some quips about her view of the world, and finished by telling me what a neat one I had Blush.

Joey, are you going for that adolescent 'Impulse/Lynx-will cover anything' odour Grin, even on the hottest days of spring!

I was talking to DH last night about what I was planning to do about going back to work, which is a tricky one. I'm ok as long as I'm not thinking about it. Which makes me think im better. But, actually, I am better than I was, but just contemplating it yesterday put me into a panic. I need to pull my head out of the sand and start doing some serious work on myself, rather than just distracting myself.

Anyway, I won't think about that now Hmm its a glorious day, I'm going to get outside and do something with it.

dementedma · 16/04/2015 08:32

Hey all.
Welcome spiders. There are good people on here.

Khalisi · 16/04/2015 08:32

alias get a bucket and wash, 1900 style! Grin
You might have to disinfect the cloth at this stage, though!

Hope did you run yesterday? Thinking of doing a 10k local competition run on Saturday. I know I'm fit enough to do it because it is one of my routes but on the other side....

babyjane1 · 16/04/2015 08:37

Morning babes,

I'm still here, still sober, god these holidays have been long!!!

Step and pump this morning and glorious sunshine so it's x good day.

I just wanted to say hi and give hugs to all, especially spider. Well done on having the courage to post, your so very welcome here and you will meet the loveliest people and get lots of support. It's been life changing if not life saving for me, that's the truth !!! Big hugs lovely xxx

needsomewillpower · 16/04/2015 11:03

hopping back on. longtime lurker, briefly hopped on a year or so back under a different name but fell back to lurking as I am a quiet member. Desperately want to change my horrible drinking habits. Once I start I can't stop and I find wine is my "reward" starting at tea time. Pretty much every day. 5 or 6 days a week on a good week. Day 1. Again. After a bottle last night. :-(

SweetLathyrus · 16/04/2015 11:35

Khalisi, you have to do that run! We'll all be waving pom poms at the finish line for you, for a PB time.

Baby, step and pump in one day, you must be looking well fit girl Grin

Welcome back, Needs, do you have some plans to help make day one easier?

I'm back from a walk, took, Pup to the park rather than our local fields so he could meet more dogs, and had a lovely time. Although I am told I come across as outgoing and confident, I am actually rather shy in RL, so having something to talk to people about (Pup), and having a reason to move on in the opposite direction if I need to, is really good for me.

needsomewillpower · 16/04/2015 11:49

My only plan is to enjoy my children and not drink. Have open bottle in fridge am trying to summon up courage to pour it away. But the ww is telling me it is a waste ...and what if I "need" it later.

SweetLathyrus · 16/04/2015 12:09

Needs, I've done that with the open bottle. I've drunk it and vowed to start the next day, except, it hasn't been enough, so I've opened another, and the cycle begins all over again. Enjoy your DC, they don't need wine to relax and have fun, so stick with them! But do get yourself something nice as a replacement for the wine, and DO pour it away or put it out of sight.

SweetLathyrus · 16/04/2015 12:22

I meant to say, Khalisi, I actually broke into a bit of a run on my walk; it wasn't pretty, but it was fun. I'm going to get my sports bra out and have another go tomorrow, I might even make it a whole 500m!

aliasjoey · 16/04/2015 12:29

Welcome needs and well done for being brave and posting!

Hopefully our bathroom should be finished today - can't wait for a shower!

GP has signed me off work for the rest of the week. He didn't think it was perimenopause, so he wanted more blood tests (I'm sure they already checked thyroid etc last year) he also was really negative about the risks of HRT.

The night sweats combined with the lack of bathing mean I must honk!

aliasjoey · 16/04/2015 15:01

Boss texts me asking for details of sickness; I replied - GP disagreed with previous doctor, asked for more tests. He's written 'Under investigation' on the note.

Boss just replied, "I need the reason for sickness!" Confused Hmm

AIBU to just reply 'They don't know, it's UNDER INVESTIGATION ffs'

fevversbetterout · 16/04/2015 16:20

Hello needs. It really won't be wasted if you pour it down the sink. You've described a similar pattern to my own. I'm on a very tenuous third consecutive day AF, and mostly I've got past pouring the first drink by telling myself its only a couple of hours that I have to distract myself. Fortunately, I still have to cook, feed the dogs etc, so by the time I've got that done, I'm past the "witching hours". Don't know if that helps. Good luck.
joey, aren't you obliged to invent a ludicrous reason for your dopey boss?Given your username, you could indicate that your gp suspects you may be a marsupial? Surely worth further investigation.Smile

SweetLathyrus · 16/04/2015 16:22

Joey, hope you're ok, just enjoy the extra time if you can. And no, YANBU, but should probably give the caps lock a miss (however tempting)

SweetLathyrus · 16/04/2015 16:23

Fevvers, you can always be relied upon for an imaginative bonkers response Grin

fevversbetterout · 16/04/2015 16:26

Sober or steaming Sweet, I try my best. Wink

SweetLathyrus · 16/04/2015 16:43

Just blame the tropical heat!

aliasjoey · 16/04/2015 16:59

Thanks fevvers that's certainly an option... I'm just annoyed that the GP kindly wrote the sicknote in vague terms to keep it confidential but boss wants details

I may say its urogenital, they already know I'm seeing a consultant (my worry is if it turns out to be completely different they'll say I misled them..?) DH has just said to tell the boss to piss off.

Are you in the garden sweets ?

fevversbetterout · 16/04/2015 17:13

Seriously, Joey, your boss must be pretty insensitive to continue to pry. The reason for the illness is uncertain, hence the further investigation. You're quite right to leave it at that.

SweetLathyrus · 16/04/2015 17:18

I was, Joey, I've planted Rosemary (B&Q had really nice cheap plants) either side of some steps I made so that I'll have a fragrant mini hedge every time I use them.

My GP has always asked what I would like on sick notes when it is sensitive for some reason, but if you don't know, you can't tell. Offer to write them a long, detailed, gratuitous list of symptoms, and ask if they would like to help with diagnosis Grin

dementedma · 16/04/2015 20:01

Hey all.distracted chap seems to have gone non contact. We had a stupid argument over his birthday of all things. All done via email which probably didn't help things.
I had my smear today. All is not well. Mega antibiotics for 10 days which means 10 days AF or I will puke my guts up. That won't do me any harm. I have to go back after that for a cervix biopsy...am a tad worried.
