Hello, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. It's a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, occasional slurpers, sneaky sippers, we're all a very different bunch but we ALL have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

We all have a story or two to tell, we have all been through some terrible times, some more than others and we all have our reasons for drinking or even not. Smile

The one true wonderful thing about this Bus is that we don't do judging!! We're all on a even playing field, no matter what has brought us to this thread.

So, if you'd like to talk, then talk. If you want to lurk and see how we work for a while, that's cool too :)

The Bus is never full, there's always is room for YOU.

And, if you'd like to see what started this off, amost good 5 years ago now, have a look at A TRULY AWESOME HEARTFELT THEAD HERE

And our last thread is just here too for those who would like some more history THIS IS WHERE WE'VE JUST BEEN

Hope to see you soon :) xxx

Hello is anyone around tonight...

This insomnia is doing my noodle. It's worse if I haven't been drinking, which is unfortunate.

Got an appointment to see GP, but like ma have to play 'patient roulette'. Such fun!

SmallFox · 13/04/2015 22:11

Hey all, quick check in from holiday. Sweet - we went to the Lost Gardens of Heligan today and I thought of you with all the amazing plants - you would have known all the names, whilst I was struggling after 'daisy'. But it was amazing - have been going off and on for years and it is wonderful to see the place (literally) grow and flower over time. And lovely to take the DC to a place I used to go with my own parents. This whole trip is a bit of a nostalgia fest for me, and a very lovely one too.

Joey, sorry about your sleeping, Khalisi I am so angry with Builder 1, that is utterly unacceptable and particularly awful given what you've been through before. Hooray for Builder 2 but more especially for your own strength and clarity of thought in seeing him for what he is. Spanna you're sounding wise and chilled! Mouse am delighted it was you who won vouchers - spend (nearly all of) them on yourself, that's an order! Looking, hope you are distracting yourself from the horrible job stuff. Sorry for those I have failed to NC, haven't been able to read back fully.

Holiday is fab but a real eye opener on the wine front. It is like a mini perfect storm - I think I took my eye off the ball having made it to day 100 last week, and ever since then there has been a constant insidious, barraging desire to drink. I am hoping this is simply environmental and that the fact of being away, seeing people sipping cocktails on the lawn looking out to sea is what is tantalising me, not anything more deep seated. But it is disappointing as I hoped this temptation would have passed. I really nearly snuck out to the bar and downed a quick Pinot Grigio mid afternoon, thought it all out, the escape route out if I heard anyone approaching....and then I caught myself going through the same old mental gymnastics and self-justifications and evasions and thought stop, you just can't do it. So I haven't, and I have got through the witching hour today. I am ok with it, just a bit sad that things seem to have got harder again, rather than easier.

But we are having a lovely time and it is a joy and a privilege to have so much time with the DC who are - amazingly - getting on with one another in a spookily delightful way (famous last words). And I am so very much more present and calm and invested with and in them this trip than on any holiday in recent years, and that is purely down to the absence of lakes and lakes of wine. So I feel good about that.

Sorry to ramble, just popped in to say hi and to cajole Joey off to sleep with a tuneful (in my head, anyway) lullaby.

dementedma · 13/04/2015 22:14

small that sounds fabulous. Well done you for beating off the we
joey are you ok? I've been watching Master chef and now off to lovely empty bed with wb on night shift.

SmallFox · 13/04/2015 22:17

Ma - I hope you sleep well tonight and don't have bad dreams of Masterchef quails/partridges! That dish looked seriously unpleasant. How nice to have your bed to yourself - enjoy Smile

dementedma · 13/04/2015 22:22

Yeah but how hot were those RAF guys? I will have sweet dreams...Grin
Did I tell you all that next week I am going to the gun salute at the castle by the way?????

aliasjoey · 13/04/2015 23:06

ma so you're telling everyone that DH is "away on night shift" and in reality he's buried under the patio? While you are off enjoying a 'gun salute' (which I take it is a euphemism...Grin)

foxy sounds like you're having a relaxing break - and great weather too!

I'm still in the sidecar...

Mouseface · 14/04/2015 00:17

Evening, tis me, Mouse

Joey - nope, the insomnia is pissing me off.... I've just made a Ovaltine with full fat milk. And taken all of my meds too...

Small - why thank you sweetie re the vouchers, I bloody well plan to spend the lot on MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Grin

How are you doing? How's life in your part of the world? :)

Ma - have you done it yet? Ordered a new patio? I know an excellent firm, not questions asked and they get the thing so level, you'd never know what was beneath it. Seriously!! Grin

On a more realistic note, I hope you're getting to see Derek for your down time. I honestly think that it's the only thing keeping you going just now. How's 'Old Boss'?

venus - I may need your help in some form of words/verse soon for me..... for DH and I. It's a special year for us, I'll pm you as not tp clog up this beautiful Bus.

Now where is that bloody IsinDe bird and others who have been in hiding?

I have to say that my Ovaltine and two digestive biscuits were the perfect end to my very upsetting Monday, when I spent an hour telling Nemo that he was going to be fine, safe, okay and happy at school, for him to finally, eventually come out and say that he doesn't like the part of the school day where everyone gathers around him in his wheelchair!

THANK THE SWEET LORD!! HE'S FINALLY SAID WHY HE GETS UPSET ABOUT SCHOOL MORNINGS.

Now we can act. Now he can feel safe. I love him so much for being so super brave for saying it out loud.

What a Dude.

Right, sorry to ignore everyone else. Much love to you all...... I shall report in again with cast news once I'm ack from Hell!!!

Love you all. Stay strong, stay you, stay true to your goals, dreams and wishes.

Night xx xx xx

PS - sorry for waffling on. Blush

Morning All Smile
Day 15 Grin the sun is shining and I have to go to work Angry and Envy for those of you who don't!
Feeling anxious this morning, not sure why, so I'll just dive into work and get on with it. WW is quite quiet at the moment (hopefully not tempting fate)

Fox your holiday sounds lush, I love Heligan Gardens (stayed in their campsite a couple of years ago) such a magical place Smile I think that whole 'alcohol temptation' is a 'reward' thing to remind yourself how well you've done being AF etc etc. Can you find yourself a 'reward' that's just for you and your achievement?

Sweet hope you're ok honey. How's puss?

Majestical Ma Battlements? RAF Men? Uniforms? I'm getting quite hot under the collar Grin Have a good day Babes?

Beaches little squeeze Babe x

Wry I hope you're ok darling? x

Have a lovely day Babes x

SoberMummy · 14/04/2015 08:20

Morning everyone! Well done smallfox on day 100 - that's amazing! I love Cornwall and Heligan. Magical place. I'm on day 44 woo hoo! Have been reading about visualisation as way of beating wine witch. I imagine I am Khaleesi (inspired by Khaleesi on this bus!) with 3 angry dragons. Works for me. It's on my blog www.mummywasasecretdrinker.blogspot.com if you're interested. Love to you all! SM

Khalisi · 14/04/2015 10:34

Good morning, my darling Babes!

alias I remember the insomnia! It took a long, long time to link that to booze. Literally, for years I would sleep 2-4 hours (and used to be proud of this, as I was functioning! Blush)
I still notice the influence of more than one glass. Out for a couple of hours and then wide awake.

Foxy-babe Your holiday sound fun-bloody-tastic! Grin
And Flowers for beating that witch back in the closet! So proud of you!
It makes a huge difference to be sober.
I've only told one friend about B2 and of course my neighbourhood friend (who introduced us). I
I'm cautiously optimistic. I think he is a good man. A normal man.
I realised yesterday that I was sort of waiting for a fall out about B1 (which would definitely have happened with ex-WB). Blush
That made me so sad, that I can't just relax and enjoy because my antenna's up all the time now.

Yes, ma, I'm so very happy that I didn't get involved with him!

Mouse So happy that DS finally told you! It is easier (even when hard, still) to help when you know what the problem is.
How is your cheesy arm?

spanna Day 15!Grin

Sweet What's up, babes? Puss ok? Pup ok? You ok?

Hope What are you up to today, my lovel?

xxx

SweetLathyrus · 14/04/2015 10:39

Morning.

Small I love Heligan almost as much as RHS Wisley, but my absolute favourite is the rose garden at Mottisfont near Romsey. I have a birthday at what happens to be the peak of the rose season (although there's not a single rose in my garden), and the scent is amazing.

I'm afraid I am having internet trouble at the moment, which is why I'm not posting too much, but Puss is doing really well, and Pup is sleeping off his first ever walk, he got a bit over excited and tore around the house panting and trying to hump DH's leg when we got home.

I'm going to hit my lap top with a big hammer now until it recognises the wifi, and will be back later.

venusandmars · 14/04/2015 15:12

ma a gun salute? hope there are no big cannons Grin arff arff Grin

Actually - these words from cannonball seems poignant....

"Still a bit of your taste in my mouth
Still a bit of your face I haven't kissed
Step a little closer each day
Still a little bit of your song in my ear
Still a little bit of your words I long to hear
So close that I can't see what's going on."

Khalisi · 15/04/2015 07:46

Good morning, Babes!

How is everyone doing?

A bit tired but hanging on.

Have a good one!

xxx

SweetLathyrus · 15/04/2015 07:47

Morning again.

Where was everyone last night? Enjoying the sunny evening I hope. I'm still having laptop/Internet trouble, and posting from my tablet is slow.

Enjoy the weather if you can.

SweetLathyrus · 15/04/2015 07:59

Morning Khalisi, tired here too, and achey like I've been exercising - but haven't!

SweetLathyrus · 15/04/2015 08:12

Over the last two days, spring has really got going here, the trees between our garden and the field are putting on leaves, which means another week and the dog walkers won't be able to see into our living room!

I actually got DH out for a walk yesterday. At his diabetes check up, the nurse was rather stern about his lack of exercise, and he is refusing to tell me his weight (like I can't see it Confused, and knowing the number would change me loving him. Doofus!).

Ma, all those fit men standing at attention for you, too many double entendres to choose from!

Baby how are you doing? How's the gym? And Ruby is everyone healthy now?

Khalisi, Spanna, Mouse, Faire, Guggs, Hope, Small, Fevvers and new and old babes I've missed, love you all, be strong.

Khalisi · 15/04/2015 09:46

Sweet Grin Grin Grin at DH's refusal to tell you his weight!
I got on the scale at new fella's house and he wanted to look and I pushed him away! He got the giggles and said 'just so you know, I actually see you! Wink
Another thing which has happened and I think this bus has a lot to do with it. I really love my body right now. Even the soft, wobbly tummy just feels good!
Sorry you're achey. If you're in the garden a lot, that too is exercise, you know!
We have a glorious day here and I'm really looking forward to my run tonight.
(even shaved the legs to wear summer pants! Shock)

NoAprilFool · 15/04/2015 13:00

Waving a quick hello.
Day 15.
Love and hugs to all.

Fairenuff · 15/04/2015 16:40

Summer pants? Something got lost in translation there Grin

I've been out every evening for the last two weeks helping dd practice her driving. She has her first test in 6 days and I will be amazed if she passes.

Tonight we are going to practice parallel parking (not sure how as she has trouble driving straight into a space right in front of her Grin) but I will exude confidence and remain calm.

She is so chilled, taking it all in her stride and currently laughing at the re-runs of 'Allo 'Allo which are on BBC2 every day at this time.

The sun is shining here too and, in this very moment, all is well. If anyone is wobbling/struggling try to just take it one moment at a time x

venusandmars · 15/04/2015 17:58

Summer pants might be caylin as in haylin) lily and isla LIKE THIS - not too hot, plenty of ventilation?

venusandmars · 15/04/2015 18:00

OK - that didn't work Blush
