Our middle son dated a single mum and they got married in July after being together for two years and presenting us with our beautiful new grandson; GC number nine. As our three sons are alll adults their relationships are their business. My wife and I just want them to be happy.

In short, No I wouldn't.

But if they were in their 30's and dating, I think it would be just expected given the age.

I would like my child to fall in love, get married, buy a house and then have children. If it doesn't work out that way and they are happy I don't care about their significant others personal circumstances. I was a single mother when I met my fiancé and soon found out his mother was a single teenaged parent when she met her husband and then went on to have my fiancé and his sister. It's ok to be a pot noodle family. As long as your children are happy Smile

it would depend on the individual. my dh was 21 when we met, and I was 26 with a 3 year old son. if the partner was supportive and lovely, then it would be ok

Considering the number of grown women I've seen on here and elsewhere, who feel hugely resentful of their stepchild, I think it's the lp who has the most to worry about.

Were my child to date an lp and then start resenting the dsc, or worse giving their bio children vastly preferential treatment, I would come down on them hard.
