You have come so far!! Renting your house out to cover the mortgage & renting something more modest for yourself sounds a brilliant plan! Where is the job?

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 24/08/2013 19:09

wow waves, you have moved on mentally/emotionally and for that you can thank yourself!

Brilliant news all round.Flowers

Crap crap start to a Sunday. Off up to hospital with my wriggly Caspian Acrobat. Spinning too many plates and dropped one, only I literally dropped the baby, who is the most precious of them all. He just wouldn't sleep yesterday/last night. Was wide awake from about 3pm and then got so overtired. I ended up just sitting with him over my shoulder only I must have nodded off. Was only for a moment but that was enough as suddenly he wasn't on my shoulder and there was a bump and a piercing wail. He has grazed his head on the stool that was next to me, right over the top.

Just finishing feeding him then off to a and e as it is right next to the soft spot. He seems just fine, but it looks awful.

I can't believe this. The one job that I should be best at and most focused on and I have totally stuffed up. It's just so hard, I have been awake apart from that moment or so, and I am so tired.

themidwife · 25/08/2013 09:06

Oh waves don't worry! Babies are very bouncy & he'll be fine. We've all done it! Xxx

Thumbwitch · 25/08/2013 09:09

OH sweety, I'm sure he'll be fine - it's so awful the first time they fall and bump themselves.
You need to forgive yourself immediately for this - it was an ACCIDENT. They happen to all of us at some point.
(((hugs))) because I remember how awful and guilt-inducing it is. I hope you get some sleep very soon. xx

Damnautocorrect · 25/08/2013 09:14

Oh lovely I'm sure he's fine xx but always best to get it checked if your worried.
I think we can all recall moments where weve had accidents like that.
Xxx

WingDefence · 25/08/2013 09:48

You haven't stuffed up, you are just tired and accidents happen. Make sure you make time to just do nothing while you're away in between the visiting and sightseeing.

Do let us know how the little one is x

MissStrawberry · 25/08/2013 09:51

I am sure you will come back to many posts about how we have all done a similar thing.

When DD was a few weeks old DS1 was rushed to hospital with a suspected fractured skull having fallen off the kitchen counter, aged 2.

When DD was 9 months old she felt off the changing table. Both these accidents were when I turned away to sneeze.

When DS2 was 3 weeks old, 22 month old DD had to be blue lighted to hospital when she fell on to the buggy and had a serious injury.

We are not having any more babies.

It happens to most of us.

He will be fine. You will be fine when you have got him checked out and have got over the shock. Don't feel the need to tell T. He will only use it against you.

C will be okay. Don't worry.

springytoffy · 25/08/2013 11:43

And there was the time I let go of the buggy for a nanosecond on a very steep hill... and the buggy careered off down the hill and hit a parked (thank. you. God) car, dd's face all bashed up.

I felt so shit but it was AN ACCIDENT. Accidents happen my lovely xxx

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 25/08/2013 12:09

What did the hospital say? I hope he's ok.
I think most parents have had accidents with their babies and most are fine. But it is hard not to feel guilty, even though you shouldn't at all. The sleep deprivation is so hard...

captainmummy · 25/08/2013 12:34

Oh waves, i hope he's fine. My ds crawled right off the bed when dh took his eye off him..aged about 9 months.
Ds2 rolled right down the stairs and smacked into the (closed) stairgate at the bottom (If it had been open he would probably have just rolled into the hall ). He also broke his leg a year or so ago jumping off a swing aged 15.

Ds3 fainted in the shower and broke his jaw....

It happens.

wavesandsmiles · 25/08/2013 15:53

I forgot just how terrifying it is when your tiny baby has an accident. Caspian is abs

OP posts:
wavesandsmiles · 25/08/2013 15:56

Absolutely fine, I was ordered to drink some strong tea to calm down!!!

The graze is very mild and he has no other damage at all. Doctor was so lovely and told me about when he dropped his baby. I have been warned that active babies will have more accidents so I just need to be a bit more vigilant and learn to deal with the shock/guilt etc.

Now trying to pack for our trip.... Just so relieved that he is ok

Hurray for lovely reassuring Doctor.

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 25/08/2013 18:06

Phew!

BerylStreep · 25/08/2013 18:13

Midwife when you say we have all done it, I hope you mean in your personal life, rather than in a professional capacity! Grin

WingDefence · 25/08/2013 20:35

Brilliant - so glad he is okay :)

wavesandsmiles · 25/08/2013 21:29

And the packing is nearly done. Just got dishes to do then may risk a shower. It's quite a task, especially given that Caspian has evening cluster feeding sessions.

I told T about the bump and popped to his place for the first time ever after hospital and he was glad to see him looking so well. Decided it would be far worse to not tell him potentially. He is so lucky to have a 3 bed place to himself with no lodgers. Ah well.

springytoffy · 25/08/2013 21:33

so glad to hear Caspian ok and well - phew!

themidwife · 26/08/2013 06:45

Oh yes Beryl talking personally! Just think of the forms to fill in if I went round fumbling babies at work! ShockGrinShock

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 27/08/2013 15:46

I nearly typed about my puppy! Good job I read pp first.

Hope you are all enjoying last couple of weeks of school hols. My weeks are getting busier. BrewBrewBrewWineWineWineThanksThanksThanksThanks

Thumbwitch · 27/08/2013 16:08

For a bit of mutual self-flagellation, I just wanted to tell you that I let my baby bash his head today - well, not let exactly, but I couldn't stop him. He was on the bed, he'd hauled himself to sitting but was cross and so threw himself backwards, as he does - and whacked the back of his head on the footboard. I caught his arm to stop him but not in time, might have reduced the impact but not by much - he was ROARING. Poor baby. He has a bump now, but seems none the worse for it - he is 10mo but still, it was a big bump.

I hope your holiday is fabulous and you meet up with some lovely MNers. When are you off?

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 28/08/2013 07:53

Morning everyone. Hope you had a good night waves with c.

Have a lovely holiday, I'm sorry but doubt I will make it to meet you all. As the holidays near the end I seem to be getting busier. If you need help with directions or anything whilst London way do pm me and I will help. ThanksBrewThanksWineWineWineWineWine

wavesandsmiles · 28/08/2013 15:59

Hi all quick check in whilst I have wifi for a few minutes. We are having a lovely holiday although the train travelling has been a nightmare as the public doesn't seem to be naturally inclined to help. I've met a couple of MNtters who are really lovely in RL as well as here. We have been pretty full on in terms of packing in visits and activities so planning a quiet day in Brighton tomorrow, just pottering about.

The weather is amazing so that has made everything more fun. And my sister has been overjoyed to meet caspian Grin

Another couple of interviews lined up for next week and a second interview so feeling more positive on the unemployment side of things.

We get home Sunday morning. Then it will be a case of getting set for the return to school on Tuesday. Hope all of you are really well

OP posts:
Thumbwitch · 28/08/2013 16:06

Brilliant to hear that you're having a good time there Waves! And glad that you're having good weather.

Woohoo! for the interviews - things are looking really hopeful there, your life is going to change so much for the better!

Have a lovely rest of the week.
